What I am saying is the arc tube is "longer" in the straight bulbs...

I know that the amount of light is the same... let me do another drawing lol

Ok 2nd drawing, if this still doesn't make sense then I will stop...

Orange lines equal "direct" intense light...

Yellow equals "inderect" light...

Green triangles equal plants...

straight bulb plant can be taller with more equal light distribution up and down the plant...

i don't ever recall seeing and arc tube for an HPS that looked like a MH arc tube. one is elongated and the other is short from what i have seen.

i think you might be trying to compare oranges to tangerines on this one sour .........

they are not really the same animal, but really really close.

I don't think mulling over every detail really matters. A watt is a watt and will perform the same in such a small space. You're just growing some weed, not building a rocket ship lol.

only arguement is watts don't matter as much as Lumens or REALLY PAR... but forget about it.. lol I know what you meant.

Chemmy Jones at 51 days and then at week 1...

You are comparing a 150 watt bulb to another 150 watt bulb, therefore it is a comparison of watts, if all other details are asumed the same.

I've never seen anyone over complicate a small grow to such a degree lol.

Lol yeah sometimes I tend to overthink little things... I guess that's OCD of some sort... well anyway... was reading Marlo's WoW thread and was inspired...did some much needed work on the cab...

needed a way to train the plants... had some trellis netting but was having a hard time putting it up, until it clicked... Do one wall at a time.. I was trying to wrap one net around the whole room... was not working for me... lol

so I got some trellis up... not really needed at the moment but good to have just in case...
there are still some empty spots in the cab that I am dying to fill but I am realizing that the plants already in there aren't taking full advantage of the Vert setup because they were not vegged enough/don't stretch enough... so right now I am in a lose/lose by not having plants in there and not putting them in there... lord knows I have plenty of clones...

Also finally sealed the light leaks around the door by making a "2nd" door kind of.. I will try to get pics to demonstrate that... wrapped the whole thing in pond liner for the most part..

need to put an intake filter on the passive intake to stop hair/dust from getting in there, reflectix the shit out of everything that is not green (Love you DHF) LOL and I think we will be good, then we need some properly vegged plants!

right on, I'll try to snap a few pics in the morning for you guys!

Alright this a little update for myself so I can remember my plants ages easier and don't have to write it down on paper... and get myself on schedule a little better...

Ok we just put a ECSD x SSSDH pheno 2 clone into flower last night on 8/6

Next youngest is chemmy jones (lost track, somewhere week 1 in flower)

then mystery pheno at 15 days in...

Then we have BKGK Bx1 at 24 days in...

OGxCD (Bagseed) at 39 days in...

two CBxDB Bx1 clones, one at 39 and one at 46 days...

Then the most mature plant, Chemmy Jones at 54 days...

We have room for Probably 3 more plants in there right now... and then in 2-3 more weeks we will have even more room, so i need to start making more slections from veg and get them into their bigger pots to start stretching out...

We have to save room for 1 ECSD x SSSDH pheno 1 clone, but they prob won't be ready to get flipped until the extra room opens... time to go check out the veg room...

Hello everyone, back with more pics for anyone who is watching...

Also looking for some suggestions if anyone is reading...

First are some pics of how I hung my light. My question is I have it pulled all the way up... It can not be raised any higher but you can see the bulb is at about the halfway height of my cab...

check it out...




that mess at the top is to just keep the loose rope from dangling all over...

So will it be a problem if I try to grow plants taller than what I have now?

Here are some overview pics of the room... This is what it looked like before...


I re arranged it this morning and made some more room... now I just need some plants to throw in there...


Need to redo the trellis netting because it was not tight enough... and wasn't really doing what it was supposed to be...

I finally did wrap the cab in pond liner and made a "2nd" door so no light leaks out.. pics of that can be taken if wanted...

Still need to put a air filter on the intake and finish putting reflectix in the corners and ceiling...

looks like you could get the bulb about four or five inches higher if you just took a little hook with screw threads and screwed it into the top of your cab then just hang the light hook directly on that without the extra clips and rope? don't know how much extra light cord you have but you could just guide it over to a corner or something and secure it to the box with zip ties or hooks so it wouldn't move and your light would hold steady.

It looks like you have the room to grow taller plants, so I would say go for it if you can. I've never done a true vert setup before, like, bare-bulb style like that, so I can't give you any suggestions based on experience. But I'm watching your grow, and taking notes, dude. As far as the position of the bulb, it looks fine to my inexperienced eyes. I would say only adjust things if you discover a need to. I'm a huge fan of the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" method. :tiphat:
