Thanks for your support D-RingBinder :) I'm still learning and I hope these plants do come out ok in the end.

It's very tempting to pluck the smaller bottom buds but I think a little patience will go a very long way haha

I try to keep the daily updates happening but I've got a new job to start soon so I'm not sure how it's going to effect everything... it may force me to do less updates but we'll see how it all goes.
Doing these regular updates are fun because I can come back to the diary and check out what I experimented with and what changes it caused.

Day 77 (Day 39 Flower)

Here they are this morning:

It's such a joy waking up to these girls every day and seeing them get a little bit bigger. I'd imagine this is what it feels like to be a father LOL

The doc and the white widow - flexing:

Still on 1550 PPM.

Tent: 58% relative humidity / 22 degrees celsius (colder today but will warm up later)

I wish i had your dedication for daily updates but it takes me like 20 minutes a post so allow that

still reading this every time i come on here though keep it up bud

There is a pheno of GHS the Doctor that was pretty big around here a few years ago it basically stank/smelt like roast chicken crisps or chicken stock cubes predictably it was called "roast chicken" any sign of you having that one?

Hi bluemountains :) that sounds like an interesting pheno. I can't say that this particular pheno smells like roast chicken crisps but it sure does sound tastey! haha
This one smells more skunky / fruity (sweet) with more faint musky tones underlying. It really does stay true to it's great white shark heritage!

Started my new job today and still found some time to update for you guys [/FONT]

Thanks for popping in TheBatCave and hope you enjoy the show :)

Work. Tiring. Daily update time... :bump:

Day 79 (Day 41 Flower)

I managed to get home just in time (5 minutes before lights out) and got in 1 happy snap for you guys.

picture.php

Morning feed: 1580 PPM / PH 5.8
Tent: 48% relative humidity / 30 degrees celsius

I think I might have a leak somewhere in my ducting but can't figure out exactly where it is lol

The taller white widow has clearly outpaced the doctor - which I find pretty cool. She's super chunky and is packing some extreme looking buds. I love the smell of the widow.
Skunky and earthy notes pamper the senses.

The doctor looks like she's stalled a bit and is probably after some more nute love.

Tomorrow they will be on 1600 PPM to get them ready for week 6 of their budding cycle.

A few weeks to go... this job is really keeping me busy until harvest day.

Gotta make that money man - this growing hobby is fast sending me broke hahaha

Day 80 (Day 42 Flower)

Today I got home early from work. Grabbed a seat - sat down in front of the tent and just stared at the ladies for a while.

Just casually zoning out....

picture.php

Before work this morning I fed them .. but got a bit overzealous with the nutes and hit em with 1650 PPM.
They didn't seem to mind it too much I don't think :smoke:

Tent: 48% relative humidity / 29 degrees celsius

rock on ladies. rock on!

Day 83 (Day 45 flower)

Day 45 flower will be devoted to the widows.

I have reduced the HPS power output to 300 watts today.

Trying to reduce the temperatures, it will also allow me to drop the lights a bit closer to the plants and in that way intensity/penetration is not sacrificed... :dance013:

Here is the midget widow today... she is frostier than the pictures will allow me to capture. I had to strap her up with zip ties today due to her branches showing flex as she's starting to pack on some good weight.

picture.php

Macro shot of one of her buds..
picture.php

This is her larger sister and my favourite of the tent. Fat and chubby in ways.

picture.php

another angle of her dangle... I had to tighten her zip tie straps as she was sagging from her weight.

I have reduced the phosphorus ratio whilst keeping the PPM @ 1600 for now. Also increased the carbohydrate source starting from today.

Day 84 (Day 46 flower)

Ambient temps today were quite hot so the room also became quite hot.

I moved the midget widow and now she's placed towards the back (where the doctor used to be) and the doctor stole her place in the tent.

picture.php

Tent environment: 37% relative humidity / 30 degrees celsius

Fed with 1650 PPM.

Thanks tokeinafort. I'm not 100% sure how long they will run for - just going to let the trichomes tell me whenever they're ready :)

I might start my flushing regime around day 52 ish

Day 85 (Day 47 Flower)

Forgive the crappy picture. This one is just to show you where the midget widow is. I've also rotated the taller widow so I can develop and fatten one of her main colas.

Fed with 1650 PPM in the morning.
Giving extra calmag/mag
Reducing phosphorus
Increased water soluble carbohydrates

Day 86 (Day 48 Flower)

I wanted to share with you my stem strengthening technique.
I was stoned and thinking about this the other day and tried it and it works well I think :)

After you have used my handy zip tie technique to brace branches off each other (as seen earlier in the thread). When you have done that, you can mix up the method to also allow you to exercise the main stem and in turn, it will get stronger.

The benefits of a stronger stem include better nutrient uptake and delivery and the ability to 'hold' the fruit better. Supporting itself under load from the weight of their own buds.

What you do is grab an older petiole or stem (one down low) and gently pull on it, releasing pressure and almost get it to a rocking rhythm (pull, release, pull, release etc.) this is done is a
rhythmic fashion in an almost tugging like motion.

This will start rocking your plant literally and this gentle swaying motion that it performs will strengthen your main stems and branches (imagine the gentle swaying from true wind and breeze -
this is similar to that in effect for the plant) in a natural environment this happens automatically. In a static environment like a small tent - we need to provide this natural form of stress and this can work wonders for stem strength development. Just perform it like an excercise for a few minutes every now and then on the plant.

The plant will adapt to the stress by hardening the main stem and strengthening itself up.

Ok here they are today. Fed with PPM 1550 this morning.

Right on guys :)

standsideways thanks mate - your grow is looking pretty rockin also!

I'm really resisting the urge to chop these plants down but we're not looking at much longer here. After they begin the flushing program - these girls should be ready next week at some stage.

The midget widow will probably get chopped first since she seems a bit more mature than the taller girls but we'll see.

Here they are on

Day 87 (Day 49 Flower)

picture.php

Fed with 1450 PPM. 2 more days of nutes... the buds are making lots of good smells.

Skunky / fruity / coffee / spicey / earthy / piney .... lots of interesting smells all combined into such a small area. The carbon filter is having trouble keeping up because I can smell the buds outside of the tent and that's not a good thing lol.

After they have 2 more days of nutes they will be transitioned into the flushing program where they can feed off their stored energy. Too much nitrogen during the ripening phase is going to delay the process so I'd rather starve them near the end.

Let them sort themselves out. I have fed them with enough carbs and nutes for them to be ok during the process.
