i've been seeing these are all over the net. restaurants and homeless shelters are feeding people with these things!

imagine what we could do indoors with 3 of these and 2k of HPS. the dark side plant sites could still be used with a little training.

if you're not familiar, it's a 5 ft tall, 20 plant site(extension kit gives 6ft and 28) vertical areoponic system. they sell a custom tomato cage for it too. they even taking monthly payments, not trying to sell it to you but i'm excited and want to know if it's a piece of shit before i drop 600 on something i won't use.

i think hova2.0 is planning to build something similar.... looks like gmaxs system also a lil....
premade vs diy... i guess is what it comes down to, my vote goes diy, even if i usually do it ghetto as hell.
check the cup colosseum link in my sig for my ghetto ass version of sum like this.
ha
love vert

edit::
damn 600 asking price? diy it urself for waaaaaay less,
hova was saying a dwc bin at the base w a column of pvc filled w hydroton w pump pulling nutrient solution from dwc to top of tower, drippn solution all down over roots of plants, making a vert NFT system kinda..... multi plant tower, 5 or 8 towers around a single vert bulb.... build-a-tree vert

I've wondered about these as well for growing herb. I wanted to get one as well but was seriously turned off by the price tag as well. I have family member that has some and they absolutely love it. I just know I could make something for cheaper.

That's a sick idea there avinash! (or wherever you got it from) I knew there had to be an easy way to do that but filling up the whole thing with hydroton is badass!

***As far as worrying about the dark side of the tower goes I wanted to get an automated lazy susan thingy so you could have all the plants getting light. You could probably get one where you could adjust the speed too. Like a lazy susan for displays and whatnot.

600 is so much for plastic and a pump. got to love that they take monthly payments without interest! i don't know.

6 towers and 3k HID. 3 and 2k. 4 and 5k. what configuration would work best?

The drawback I see with these pre fab units is there`s plant holes all the way round the column where plants on the back side of bare bulbs will suffer.....especially if having to go around a column of plastic before lumens can penetrate/be absorbed.......that said.....

Gmax`s setup is a far easier design for DIY`ers in that it`s just pvc fittings , a lil pipe to connect with , and a good feed and drain system....and.....

All the plantsites are pointed dead at the bare bulbs....but.....He runs lp aero , so as said above , feed and drain will haveta be figured out or just done like this tower thingy that costs out the ass for no apparent reason.....anyways....many ways ta skin a mule.....and...

I could fill the room up with stacked "wye" fittings on top of rez container units all the way round some stacked bulbs for $600 and that includes the pump/pumps depending on setup , but......

I`ve got a low opinion of hydro whore manufactured grow systems that can be DIY`ed for cents on the dollar with a lil common sense , but I digress.....

I`m sure if folks weren`t buyin em they wouldn`t be makin em huh ?.....or.....Is that why they`re offerin free financing to try and unload them bitches....food for thought.....regardless...there are....

No new mousetraps.....but....that thingy might do good on the back deck/patio for an herb garden or maybe butter lettuce/spinach type run where shit don`t grow into each other.....or.....

Outside budsicles come to mind as well if yas got $600 to blow up a hog`s ass for a hobby experiment.....aight.......I`m biased or can yas tell.......

The main reason this setup`s counterproductive to a vertical grow is cuz as a rule yas want plants surrounding the bare bulbs instead of having to hang lights to surround an apparatus with plants stickin out of it 360 degrees.....IOW....Plants around the bulbs......Not bulbs around the plants.......

Peace....DHF.....

good info fred! i don't think everybody has the time and patience let alone the skill to DIY one of these.

here's a different called the Phytopod™-3 for 180.00 and much more custom for your planting options. uses coco and runs a pump. pretty sweet. backside would be more for root mass. basically just wire, burlap, couple buckets, pump, hose and coco.

I'm curious if anyone has tried too. I have a Tower Garden for my regular garden and would want to know if anyone with an outside garden has used one of these. I think it would work great. Lights and a tent would be needed indoors, but so complicated. An outdoor option, seems really great.

You can include more holes, but it is pricey. I'm not very handy so it's kind of good for my vegetable garden.

wow never seen this one !! I am glad you bumped it bbpku

thank for the kind words everyone, and I am alright tino :thank you:

that would be pretty cool to have outside, I m curious how well my Wonderwall would work if I put it outside under the sun or in a greenhouse... it wouldn't have to be round anymore, it could just be a straight row which would make it easier..

that tower garden looks like it can be built pretty easily yourself... a large rez with a sturdy cover and then the largest PVC width you can find, or something similar, drilled into the lid... with holes drilled in the sides for plant sites and then take a short length of 2-3'' PVC inserted into the holes at an angle and sealed up to keep from leaking... then you can put 2-3'' netcups into them for the plants....

then you can have a decent powered submersible pump with a single length of PVC coming vertically out the pump and to the top of the system on the inside... then have a bunch of holes drilled all the way around the pipe so you can get 360 degrees of spray and then put misters in them for a nice aero system... I am a obvious fan of aero, but you can do spaghetti tubing or whatever form of hydro you can make work... aero just seems to be the easiest...

maybe you can use soil and tinker with it and make it a sort of multi plant PPK if possible

it may work well indoors if you surrounded it with light from the side like this: o=light x=system _=empty space(might as well be a plant)

just some thoughts :)
