a word about aquarium water & yellow leaves

so i used to think plants love aquarium water. well there is good aquarium water and then there is my aquarium water.

lots of people talk it up...i used to. but then i used to have Discus, a fish that requires bi weekly water changes. now i have fish i could care less about, never change the water except to make up for evaporation and plant watering.

my grow shop said test the water so i did. in the low fives. so when i add the ferts, no doubt i was dropping it into the 4's or worse! all year long my plants have had yellowing of all sizes and ages of leaves, narcosis, not growing well, suffering. just the way i like it.

every time i would give away a plant to somebody else they immediately got better, greener. if you want your plants to suffer, like i do, feed them lots and lots of fish pee/ammonia, as it does not break down into nitrogen as fast as you might think it does. if you change your fishes water frequently however, it won't be bad, but there is certainly better things to give them imho.

Haha, That is a funny one.
Seriously, due to horrendous water quality I was using aquarium water treatment solution to remove chlorine and I was wondering if it chelated all the minerals out of the feeding water. Now I use hydrogen peroxide instead.
