Spider mites AKA The Borg

ivermectin works a charm..
My experiment with Ivermectin (cattle/swine injectable liquid formula) was a failure (no effect on mites) probably because it is non-soluble in water. What formulation are you using that "works a charm"?
From what I've read Avid (abamectin) is nearly chemically identical but formulated for spraying plants. Haven't tried it though.

2 suggestions,no pest strips and organocide,or if you can afford it liquid ladybug. The organocide does have a low residual order that does dissipate after several days,it hasnt affected the flavor that I have noticed.

I fought the Borg and I won, this time................

I grow in small cabinets 2x4 by 3 ft tall.

So, I hit the little bastards with a whole bottle of Mightie wash. Cleaned the entire space like an OCD freak. Guess what, yeah you guessed it..they are back.
Having a mini heat wave in the uk, hit 28.c today! which is not helping.
Next on the list...Pv+ has worked for me me before ? or ?
might also get some actual ladybugs if I can get them quick enough.

They love the heat and will reproduce even quicker

Did you keep up with the mighty wash applications Mack?

I sprayed the stuff like every couple days when I had em

I also rotated in SNS209 or whichever # their mite spray is

Gotta stay religious with the sprays, even after you think their gone

Apologies for repeating "the obvious" ... but, if whatever mix you are spraying is not mixed with some soap, IT WILL NOT WORK.

Soap can work in 2 ways, on drying it dessicates soft bodied insects, killing most or all, but probably not all the eggs...

However, if you do not use soap with any spray mix, the resulting spray will blast the plant with water droplets that will run about and drip off the leaves, killing some, but not all the mites. When you mix in Soap correctly, it causes the sprayed water to loose all surface tension http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Surface_tension

This means, in effect, that once soap is added, the water just wets all the leaf surface, totally, affecting everything, it does not form into droplets that roll about and off, killing some, but not all the bugs.

Sure most of you know this, but someone somewhere will have forgotten...

Good Luck.

Mighty wash best shit ever .. Electro charged water you can spray at any stage!!!

I do a floramite dip on babies, then use neem all the way untill 12/12 .right before I kick over I hit em with floramite again . And from there on mightywash once a week untill harvest..if you are worried about Any residual from floramite it only lasts 30 days and the same people that make mighty wash make a residual wash called power wash.. Mighty wash is electric water that has a neem like effect on leaves and its not a oil so it has no smell meaning you can spray it directly on buds...
I also dr doom.in between runs

And im from northern ca were we have super mites. with my bug combat techniques I whoop their ass everytime

Good luck

^^just tried that, obviously I missed a couple, cause they are back. and at 200 eggs a day these fuckers really do go for it. Also its still real hot in the UK.

The mighty wash or the floramite? If your using mighty wash soak the WHOLE plant at least once .. And if your in veg soak em with floramite or forbid

The trick is to break the breeding cycle they hatch eggs Every three days this is why I mighty wash once a week. A gallon Gets me through flower

well you are right there,it seems adjusting the surface tension works on many things doing this, from the soil on up.
I actually hadnt used it often because I keep forgetting about the surface tension and how soap will break that.

@ cookie monster, the mightie wash. I did spray, cause it would cost me a fortune to buy enough to dunk my plants. I would also need a giant bin to be able to dunk them.

You don't have to dunk them you have to spray Every part of your plant.. any place they might be .. I do floramite dunks only on tiny clones not large plants..if you're in flower just drench your plant in mighty wash..make sure to shake the bottle to charge the frequency ..and follow every 3-5 days until mites start diminishing then you can spray once a week until harvest that will keep you mite free

war seems over.

war seems over.

Floramite, avid, and then forbid. The forbid was the knock out punch. One month later, no further treatments, not a single fucking mite. Yay! I'm finally mite free! I beat the borg!

My acacia trees{2 of them 8 years old} i take inside in the winter and out side in the summer. Most years when i put them outside, i notice spider mites. So i just take the garden hose and spray the tree down every 2 or 3 days for a couple weeks. No more mites till next season.
makes me wonder if our grow rooms where set up so we could use a garden hose or sprayer with = force/spread. Drains, and GFI receptacles etc etc. Or another option is to have plants on roller bed roll the plant outside and spray down.... i would like to try on plants next time i have mites. But i rarely have them maybe cause i spray semi regularly with foliar. Anyone just use water spray for mites and cannabis? peace

Water spray outside, sure it will help a bit. Indoors, no chance.

WaterDude,
My experience with orange oil on foliage hasn't been good. Another user posted recently that it burned his plants. It's organic, kills bugs, incl Fire Ants and Termites, but causes too much phytotoxicity. I was drawn to it probably for the same reasons as you, but... Good luck. -granger
