I've never tried anything from GHS and I don't know them well enough to speak bad about them. But the best Colombians are available now from Charlie, I plan on growing some of their gear here in Colombia this year. I feel very good about this.

hate all you want but arjan is the example of how you should get genetics.
idk about bodhi but honestly i don't know many others are doing anything close to what they are doing.
i don't know about you but a guy traveling to columbia to go into the backwoods for old genetics

arjan if one of the only people ive seen who can call his strains amazing in the face of some of the strongest most resinous herb on the planet. he is a charlatan and clearly living in denial with his little gimp franco.

not denying he's clearly a pretty nutty guy, and of course franco's a ass kisser, he knows where his bread gets buttered.
still going into one of the most dangerous in the world and paying his way in to see these fields and get genetics.

the part where he does a photo op in that columbian grow for nutrients was clear evidence he's a charleton and marketer just trying to be the worlds first cannabis billionaire through legal or at least decriminalized means

do you know how crazy things are there? columbias basically been in a civil war for as long as it's been a country
it's one thing to go to india or morrocco where for the most part, it's quite safe and the locals are extremely friendly open people.

he was definetely visiting big columbian cartel grows, i don't know if it was all the same cartel and he was protected but he was definitely in some of the most dangerous places on earth for a rich guy who can be ransomed to go

GHS are clearly business minded, which is not a bad thing in itself, it is a problem however when money is the primary motivation, and the plant becomes simply a means to an end.

I commend them for the HD shots of the feilds, security or none, in fact I would've thought they could make quite a bit off the video footage alone seeing how rare that quality of recording is of traditional plantations.

However the seed importing is unethical and irresponsible.
I know in many places the indiginous crop will genetically "consume" the import, but why risk altering the very landraces you are going out of your way to get pure in the first place? (Especially when modern hybrids are quite notacably different in growth characteristics and effects.)

They seem to think they have an authority on cannabis that exceeds that of the 3rd world farmer, which is poppycock, any smoker who favours authentic herb would pay more for the traditional plantation over ghs weed.

They encourage sensimilla at every opportunity... "Of course we dont want seeds in our smoke, nobody does" etc. They dont want anyone making their own seeds basically, the seedbank will provide!

The first cannabis billionare lol, what a joke.

ramdom words, deep feelings and opinion

notice in part 3 how they need to talk again of shantibaba, what they imply and how they justify they are good despite the bad opinion we see in forums while i remember arjan nasty post full of hate and lies he wrote about shantibaba and mr nice seeds, his first and only post on the internet by the way and no other post since nor his crew seems to care about customers service they never answer nor come in any forum anymore except to promote new strains or products.

see donnie brasko mafia holiday style in a big boat in colombia with girls in bikini, all the stereotype, close up of ass girl, like we have all we want, and the comment "we can't talk bad about the poor because we come from there and we cant talk bad about the rich because we are going there" thats so classy !

who are they ? do they even maintain lines in seeds form with regular seeds to preserve what it has be done by real breeders like nevil schoenmaker since the eighties ? do they improve seedlots ? no, they stopped selling regular seeds to make growers come back buying their femenized seeds each grow. this kind of mentality we see in our modern world make the people dependent and never encouarge to make your own.

the real green revolution is and will be when each passionate grower will make his seeds, the best came from passionate people even with small grow or recource, you can find an holy grail plant in a dozen of seeds and if you find it you can slowly step by step creating something of your own, grow after grow, with a good eye and a minimum of knowledge, making your circle and even more happy. that is the revolution and evolution, not making big money with femenized seeds where no real breeding has been done, only using genetics the pionneers have already bred and claiming its your work.

it should be wondered with the supposed past of arjan heroin dealer and the connection of hard drug in Amsterdam, how they have been in contact with a big colombian grow operation like that, the link between colombian cannabis op and cocaine trafickers in amsterdam hard drug market is very likely... every hard drug dealer know greenhouse coffeeshops in amsterdam. cannabis and hard drugs are sell in different place in amsterdam, canna in coffeeshops and hard drugs in the street but in the end amsterdam is a small town and all these people are neighbours, they know each others, it shoud be remembered that hundreds of kilos of cannabis are sold outside the coffeeshop in the black market along with coke , heroin and MDMA and no doubt some of these people are mutual clients. if you have ever make parties in amsterdam you know what i mean and what we see in coffeeshops and clubs at night

That was not a cartel grow, it was a grow in an area controlled by one of the 2 terrorist groups, or one of the paramilitary groups that have sprung up to protect areas from FARC. Some but not all are there to protect Coke crops, the situation is very dangerous and no amount of armed bodyguards can really protect you there on the ground.

At the moment, it is getting harder to find "real" Colombian weeds as more and more of the market is being taken by "Cripi" hybrids of Dutch/American strains and the larger growers in many parts run this as it is worth a lot more money. The last figures I heard were $40/KG for Punto Rojo [brickweed] and around $400 for Cripi. Obviously this has sod all to do with the GHS visit, or the utterly bizarre reasons people dredge up for hating on them.

If you want some old Landrace there are a couple on this site that provide those old genetics. I am growing the Colombian x Jamaican Lamsbread from USC. Hard and time consuming gourmet smoke. You cannot buy this kind of smoke anywhere. I flower 4 of my hybrids in the time of one Col x Jam

I've watched every Strain Hunters video and I really like them for the most part, which is surprising because I don't particularly care for GHS. Not to the point of slamming them, but I won't buy seeds from them; there are better places imho.

I actually really liked how Vice brought up the other side of it and showed how people spoke of Arjan and GHS. At least they were fair in that aspect. I really wish that GHS would actually work with these varieties and release something. If they did that, I might feel a little different about it.

And maybe its just me, but what about the pollen donors for these plants? Do we just assume that the males are of the same quality and genetic background as the females? I just don't understand how a seed from a girl can be looked at as being so precious, but the father isn't an issue at all.

Overall, I enjoyed the video. I might should try to see if I saw the full version. One I watched was only 25 minutes long.

people should know that landrace genetics in these places where they are at home are very resilient, the pollen is every where, no matter what you cross into them they will change back to the original in only a few generations. those farmers are happy to get some fresh blood into their genetics, it will give them an advantage the next few seasons as their crops will be unique for a while, but sooner or later you will no longer see any traces of the church or what ever they give them.

anyway i look forward to watching them tour some fields and show us some of the people and culture. would any one say no at the chance to go with them? i don't think so some how, bet they have an awesome time on these video making expeditions. you have to give it to the GH, they are great at selling their image and getting their name out there.

Yah,but marketing is for the greedy......

and that bobble head doll,oh no please???
but the KING thing is the worst of all marketing???
Traveling an collecting must be nice,we all wish that,
but actually working those as a professional breeder is another.......
As i said though, i strongly feel any crosses to landrace genes will burry
great cannabinoids that are what is lacking these days in our hybrids.........
touchy?
