El Bandito Rides Again

S

Smoke Buddy

Hey Bandito,
Your plants are lookin killa! You got some phenomenal growth bro! June is awesome! Hows the heat in there? This heatwave is gonna be brutal... correction, IS brutal.. I was thinking I would consider opening the whole thing up by pulling the sides out and up like a canopy... would give the girls some elbow room and let air move thru but still provide overhead stealth. just a thought... peace :rasta:

That's a really creative solution, Smoke Buddy! Might just have to try that. I solved a bit of the overcrowding problem already- pulled 5 of the SSK plants out of the greenhouse. 3 went to a friend to flower indoor, and another 2 are just outside the greenhouse.

The goal is to flower six plants total and I think I have my final assortment in the greenhouse now. Still waiting for one of the Sour Strawberry Kush to show its sex. Here's the current load out: (4x Sour Bubble are the 3 on the left, as well as the back right)

It will be 110 here today, 120 in the greenhouse. Plants are holding up but I think it slows down growth. Not a big problem for me obvs. I am loving my monster SSK Brienne. Look at how thick her stem already is:

id move it to a spot where you got shade around 530 pm, then cover then , uncover around 10 at night, 30 days of pull, rest of the time no need to pull it.

about this post, I'd be worried that the changing sunrise times might mess things up. I think the sun is starting to rise later in the year now, but if you were considering doing this at a different time of the year it could cause problems methinks.

I do like the idea of pulling tarp to get a head start on flowering though, makes me want to try some long flowering hazes next year.

yeah i wouldnt do the 30 days only of pull with anything but broad leaf dominant genetics. But doing the 530 on 1030 off sched works very well. If the spot gets a lot of sun in the pm and you dont have breathable tarps, then id go with a 330am on 915 am off sched to keep the heat down and the bud density up, stretch down.

It's the end of a wonderful four day weekend spent camping up by Georgetown. The heat wave lost some steam (hehe) and we are back down in the 90's again. It was nice to be in the cooler forest and the dogs lived it up:

Lots of chores to do at home today, though: lawn mowing, plant feeding, etc. Moved around some plants today to do some inspection and pruning. Things are looking really great, although the plants are pretty hungry. I have scaled back the feeding quite a bit this year, relying on a richer soil mix to help out, but I should probably be feeding once per week from here on out.

Here is my biggest Sour Strawberry Kush, which now towers over my head. Awesome structure and is going to yield big:

My most prized Sour Bubble clone is almost as big, despite the slower growth tendencies of the strain. This plant has been veg'ing for almost five months now! The monster cropping resulted in a super bushy structure that has taken a good deal of pruning in order to keep it under control. Excited to see what happens here:

Here are the other three Sour Bubble clones, all looking healthy:

Thanks everyone for the kind comments and suggestions. I love having a place to share my excitement.

Happy Tuesday everyone! I have finally reduced what started as a couple dozen plants all the way down to the final six I will be flowering out. I gave some away and tossed these two males:

ImageUploadedByTapatalk 21374077610.069851.jpg

That leaves me with 4 Sour Bubbles and 2 Sour Strawberry Kush, and the greenhouse is still pretty crowded. I just bought a long 4" x 4" board so I can bolt stilts onto the greenhouse frame supports and jack it up a couple of feet. This will also give me some better airflow. It's really only one plant that's scraping the roof now:

Here's something cool: I dug up a pic of my greenhouse last year, dated July 24th, so about a week from now. I had six plants and it was my first grow. It's fun to compare that pic to the pic of what my six plants look like THIS year at the same time.

Last July:

So thankful for ICMag!

Just be careful with better growing skills come new more challenging problems. I have grown myself into problems when my plants were way bigger then I was expecting. Reduced airflow can cause significant disease and losses if not managed well.

Not trying to get you down, just trying to keep you working/thinking about the next phase. You're doing great!

Flowers flowers everywhere! I am going to need to wear coveralls to wade into this greenhouse pretty soon. Pretty early flowering this year and these two strains are supposed to finish fast.

Here's a shot of the entrance:

I have two Sour Strawberry Kush girls that are polar opposites in terms of phenotypes. Granted, one is in a ten gallon pot and the other in a 20, but the small one has a super tight compact structure and is indica leaning:

The other SSK is my monster- she is super branchy and has long internodal spacing. A bit more light green and sativa-looking. She might just be super hungry here too. The second shot is of her lower trunk to show the structure better:

ImageUploadedByTapatalk 21374951893.712049.jpg

The 4 Sour Bubbles are clones from the same plant, and are all pretty identical in vigor and such:
ImageUploadedByTapatalk 21374951952.523509.jpg

They aren't giving off much smell yet but it's coming soon. I'm considering yanking the big girl and another plant out and relocating them in order to make the greenhouse slightly more navigable. It's gonna be a sticky mess in there!

Just cut down my biggest plant. She was rootbound and I had no place to put her. None of my friends wanted an 8 foot tall plant. I've only been growing a year and it hurt my brain to even consider getting rid of her, but she was so much taller than the other plants in the greenhouse that she shaded the others out. It was way too overgrown in there anyway.

I feel like I am maturing as a gardener, though, having made the right decision for the health of the rest of my plants. No need to be greedy- this is just head stash and I have 4 Pure Knowledge style Sour Bubble monsters as well as a stocky little Sour Strawberry Kush that is going to be stacked with buds from head to toe. I can now squeeze into the greenhouse for proper inspection and maintenance. It was the right thing to do.

All that being said, CHRIST ALMIGHTY WHAT A WASTE! I would have loved to see this big SSK flowered out. Cest la vie.
