Petition to Downgrade Cannabis

Hey guys, let's try to get this guy's petition off the ground, saw the link on a Cannabis Blog, looks like it's not got many signitures yet... But it's not registered mine yet either so maybe it'll update soon? :)

It seems like moving it down a class is a good way of getting closer to legalisation, I know that right now Cannabis is penalised the same way most class "C" drugs are but the "B" Classification still makes legalisation less likely to happen, can we get it downgraded?

Nice idea, DP and thanks for tuning us in to this. However, I try to keep my head down and do my thing under the states radar so I won't be signing it myself.

Whats the point forget about legalisation its never going to happen and signing a petition ain't going to make a blind bit of difference ,a million people marched against going to war with Iraq and that never worked so do you honestly think this petition will ? :whistling:

I know it's not likely to go totally legal any time soon, but what I liked about this proposal was that it's not asking for anything that radical so it might get discussed at least lol
which the other weed petitions never do. :-(

Cannabis only moved up to B a few years ago in the Nutt Report controversy, given the shitstorm that founded maybe someone will take the vote winning initiative of condemning that terrible decision by the (labour) government, I don't like the tories either but I imagine they'd love the chance to attack labour over their past fuck ups...

even if their recent Khat thing was basically "Firing David Nutt, the sequel" :-(

I'm happy to sign it because signitures and names aren't made public... except for the name of the guy who starts it lol!
So if they're willing to have their name made public I'm happy to back them...

Especially when I don't have to make my own name publicly visible just put it on the private list :p

We tried this last year, (or the year before, time flies), and came no where near the minimum sig count to get it discussed. It was only a class C briefly but its always been class B other than that short time. Then the cops realised it meant they couldn't bust people in their own homes for class C and T. Bliar had it made Class B again. Now we have right wing fascists in power who keep going back to europe to try to get an exemption to the human rights act for our nation. Treating people like human beings is something that Dave resents. So I doubt, whatever people tell him they want him to do, he will give a shit about it.

It has already been made class c once. That was a scam. Before reclassification from class b to class c, possession of class c was not an arrestable offence, the downgrade made it one. Also, they made all the class c penalties for possession and production exactly what the class b penalties had been, with a corresponding increase in the penalties for classes a and b ((so when it went back to class b, the penalties were even worse than they had been before)). the only difference class c made, was that if you got caught with a spliff or a couple of grams, you might not get nicked. Even this wasn't for your benefit, it was so precious little Tarquin or Cressida don't have their promising futures as part of the ruling class ruined by some teenage herbage.
