where do you want to use the light/lights?
i think that depense a little on what you need....sometimes its better to use 2 lights with less watts but you got more space to grow...

and if you only got a little space i would take a little higher watts.....

i dont think that the 900watts are very much better on the same surface....

i would take 2x300

its even better when you "later maybe" got some more space

Yes, I bought the 300w version (actual watt usage is 196W). Its on par with my 400 watt HPS easily but the heat output is so much less. I can touch the led anywhere with out getting burned. I bought one because of all the good feedback but wasnt expecting much due to the price, but Im very surprised with the quality. For the price I assumed it would be trash. But the light is very well manufactured. 3 watt leds, are very bright. My eyes have that same blinding effect of a HPS when I leave the grow closet. I will be kinda of blind for a few seconds (cfls dont do that to me). I will take a few pictures of it and post them later tonight. I have to wait because my plant is currently in the night cycle.

I also bought the 300 watt version, my plants would not grow under the light. After 5 weeks I removed it and used a couple CFL's while I ordered and received a 600 watt HPS. Once my plants were receiving light from the CFL's they grew like greased lightening. It would be interesting to know why you had good luck, I did not.

Ive always been an LED hater (search my post on this forum). I heard the tech has changed for the better over the last 4 years. So I thought I would run a test for myself.

This grow is a lone sensi star female freebie. It has grown amazingly well in veg. First week seedling as in soil, then switched to a hydro setup and vegged for 3 weeks. Then I switched it over to 12/12 cycle four days ago. We will have to wait and see how it preforms in the flowering cycle.

Drain to waste.
Pea gravel medium.
1/2 teaspoon maxigro per gallon during veg
1/2 teaspoon maxibloom during transition to flower.
Feed twice per day, and third watering is a no nutrient r/o flush. (same with commercial drain to waste fertigation)

These are pictures I took last night with my phone (crap quality). I take some more this evening.

Looking at your pic's I can see the LED reflection, I notice that you have some visible blue led's. My light shows no blue color at all. That may be the reason you can grow with yours, and I can't. Pink and red is all that is noticeable with mine.

OK thanks. Maybe they were out of the blue leds the week they made mine, who knows. Chinese are not known for quality control. But I think you have shown me why mine will not grow. I'm no expert by any means, but research has shown the the blue is needed for growth.

Trewalker, Im no expert in LEDS either my friend, but you're probably right, because I read the same thing in commercial farming journals.

I never intended to do a grow log, but since someone asked about the same light I purchased for a test grow, I thought I would post for the IC community.

I will keep everyone updated weekly during the flowering process. Its doing fantastic in veg, but flowering is the true test. Due to my lack of faith in LEDS.... if it fails to preform I will gladly trash this light on the forums. If it produces a respectable GPW, I will praise it for changing my mind. Especially considering its less than $200.

Light's made last year to 2 years ago didn't quite have the same band's as they do now. The 1st generation's of these unit's had some 50/50, some all blue (Veg...), and all red (Flower...lol). I reality nobody should pay more than $250 for that panel, since EVERYBODY is ordering from the chinese, and most are drop-shipping. Go to Aliexpress if your still in the air 1toke, they offer an escrow service at no charge, so you can be assured you will get your stuff in less than 30 days (That's their policy... And if it's not to your liking, ie they funked your spectrum etc, you can dispute it, and get to keep the product AND a 50% refund... Nothing to lose IMO...). Look for good feedback and you can't go wrong. I opted for a similar 100 diode panel WITH lens's for a few dollars more. You really need a well balanced spectrum as well to see the most gain's with L.E.D., and ordering from the factory, they let you custom tailor the band's and layout. Good growin' y'al!

Correction, same panel's only $180 shipped a piece from china, $349 for 2 and I can guarantee from that e-Bay seller's grammar that their being drop shipped. Good look Relief too BTW bro! Panels doin ya good! These sucker's look like they belong by the hundred's in an abandoned warehouse/jungle growing ton's ;P !

What distance do you have the light from the top of your plants ? And thanks for taking the time to take and post pics, and answer my questions Relief.

No problem Trewalker. When I switched to 12/12 cycle 5 days ago the light was 12 inches above the sensi star. It was 6 inches away and needed to be moved up again when i took these pictures.

Ok, this plant has been in flower for two weeks and is showing absolutely no signs of flowering. Im going to shorten the light cycle to 10 hours on, 14 off and give it one more week. If it doesnt flower then, then this light is worthless for flowering.

Maybe you should try at least a couple of cuts of something else before "trashing" the light. Claiming the light won't be good for flowering after 2 weeks [] for 1 plant, isn't exactly empirical evidence, ya know?

Seems like you have a good spectrum going on. The 730nm is a little weird being on all the time, but the blue's dont seem overwhelming, however they could be having an effect. The red's seem good too and I like the 650-660nm range.

Have you re-visited over every grow detail again? Maybe its some crazy sativa that won't show for 6 weeks, lol, possible.

Like the light too! hopefully it starts working out...

I tried to vegi for 5 weeks and got about 1 inch growth, so I WILL trash the light myself, though I hope Relief has better luck with the light than I.

Before you start to give advice, maybe you should look at my grow albums. Ive grown 14 foot sativa monsters that took 16 weeks to complete. If this was a sativa I would agree with you, because I have extensive experience with them.... but this is an indica I've grown many times over the years. This strain has always shown strong signs of sex after a week of 12/12. Flowering for this strain is 8 to 9 weeks, theres NO WAY this thing will be done in 6 weeks. Maybe two or three female flowers on the entire plant!

Never in the 9 years of growing Sensi star has this ever happened. Like I said, I will give it one more week at 10/14, and if I dont see a change in flowering... Im going to "trash the light" and throw in some CFLs until the heat dies down.

*EDIT*

This is what sensi star should look like at 2 weeks of 12/12. Notice the tops starting to "crown"?

Now look at my plant... no flowers... none.

My first post, not even going to do an intro first, some of you might know me from across the street at Skunk forum.

I have been doing a ton of research on these very same lights (300w) from the very same manufacturer, I even proxy bought a pair for a friend. Here's what I have so far in condensed version. The lights are not whole power 300 watts as someone mentioned earlier in this thread, they run at about 2/3 on the supplied driver, figure they put out about 180-220 watts each- this extends the life of the lamps. The lights are well built, good components. At issue is the total strength, at 200 watts they each will cover about one or two plants that are a 1-2 feet tall and at that they worked well in veg cycle. As for flowering under these lights there will be much left to desire, they seem to be short on what it takes to produce big flowers, also noticed is that due to the low watts light feeding is required so as not to burn the stock. If those photos posted earlier are examined closely it can be seen that the flowers are small and there is already some nute burn evident. The solution for flowering is to use the LED lights along side an HID of the same or larger power.

The bottom line, the LED's are good to very good for veg, but lack for flower power. The upside is the cost, at 150-200$ each for a pair it really isn't a bad way to get your foot in the door and do a little bit of experimentation.

Here are a few photos of the LED's in action with shots of damage from burn.
