Yea I seen the pic, sometimes the bottoms of stems ive seen look like that, And ive never seen it go higher up. Just seems to happen to the 1" above the soil.

Id look at the preflowers, leaf backs, leaf tops, new growth. If all those are good I dont see anything wrong.

Only insects I get is the occasional gnat, Which dont survive long. They are easy to kill.

And I never seen them near that part of the plant. Just land on a leaf, fly around, land the wall, fly around.

I think its just natural for plants to look a bit rough near the dirt.

I thought I saw slime in your first pic which could be a snail or slug put a few slug pellets around the plant they love them and kill instantly

You have a rabbit stripping the bark off the stem. They do this to different plants. If they chew it all around in one area it will kill the plant. You need to wrap the stem with tree wrap or put up a chicken wire fence.

if it was pesky wabbits shoot them or put up a wire fence yes of course you can take cutting from this plant, the Fan leaf still looks infalted to is still alive, chop it up and clone clone clone
