Sorry about your girlfriend, this sucks, many friends & relatives and my doggies have had it.

It is unusual to see nerve symptoms come on in a just a few days - I would be thinking that her illness is actually from a prior bite sometime in the past. Definitely Doxycycline makes you feel like absolute shit while you're on it, hard to eat, lethargic, etc, cannabis will help mitigate the side effects. They're not going to test for THC, it's expensive, they won't do that unless they have a reason like DUI crash, child abuse, etc.

Don't forget daily yogurt while on the Doxy also - will help to restore damage to the gut bacteria.

Also, make sure they are aware of the other tick-borne illnesses - I'm going to brutalize the spelling here, but the big ones are anaplasmosis, erlichia, and babioesis. She should get tested for all of them along with Lyme, different antibiotic treatments are needed for some of them. A friend of mine got erlichia from a tick bite while mountain biking, he needed a catheter line installed into his heart for 1 month of antibiotic treatment, 30-year old guy, scary stuff.

If she doesn't get better fast I'd be looking for a Lyme specialist in the area, regular docs won't know as much about these issues.

only thing i know about is when you catch the tick within 24 hours and get the antibiotic right away it wont hurt you

if it stays in there for longer you have a problem

a friend of mine got very sick of it

i hate those ticks

all the best to your girlfriend

well I had it at least a day or 2 or 3 after noticing a rash. I have been having flu-like symptoms or cold-like symptoms, what is the difference now? I had Lyme, had a blood test today out of fear I still do (sore neck and jaw and cold/flu like symtoms) and they were surprisingly hospitable but they begged for good ratings. Anyway, do not mess with lyme. I may have waited too long or maybe not, but either way take action as soon as you think you have been bitten by a tick!

This tick shit is starting to scare me more and more. I have to remove ticks from my skin almost every time I go out to check on my plants. Can't go see the doctor every time I've been bitten:) I've made a habit out of taking a shower and changing all of my clothes after I've been outside but even then I sometimes find ticks on me a couple of days after I've been in the forest. I know we got Lyme disease in the country and there are also some ticks with other scary stuff like TBE although they're not found in this part of the country so far...

Just saw this Lyme disease sucks it hard. I have multiple strains of Lyme in me cause the medical community funked me up with the wrong antibiotics never touched the Lyme until it went to my brain, then I was in the emergency room getting IV's screaming at everyone loosing my mind. Doxycycline is the nuclear bomb for lyme's the bad part is it kills everything so you feel like shit for months until your body can get the good bugs replenish. I'm getting better and better but it takes a lot of work and a shit ton of changes to life style. Gluten free/Anti inflammatory diet helps a lot along with other botanicals. My relationships and life style have suffered greatly from this utter fucking bullshit and anything I can do help others I will try. Pharmaceutical companies haven't found the best way to make money off it so doctors go by federal laws set by big Pharm it is a joke, little known fact they made a Lyme vaccine years ago mid 80's my Dr told me and it works! Oh yeah Doxyocycline went from a dollar a pill to 6 bucks a pill this June because of a specalted shortage just in time for tick season. Anyone have any questions shoot me a e mail I will try to help. Lyme disease is not a death sentence but it takes work to drive those muthafuckers back into the cells and keep them dominant!!
