Mini0n's First PC Grow

I like that idea, but wouldn't the plexiglass cut down on how much light that is being received?

It would probably get rid of most of your UVA and UVB but that's about it. Any light you lose anyway would be more than made up by helping control this beast you put in to small a cage haha.

Looking at your picture, IMO you can bring the entire main stem down a half inch or more. Bring it right down to the edge of the pot. The plant can take being bent like that, its hardy as all get out. Plus its been in the position it is now for weeks, so its only a small adjustment for the plant.

Going to post pics anytime soon? :)

See, the main stem MIGHT have some more room to move down, but I've had that baby at 90 degrees for maybe a month now. Yea I'm starting to get pretty tired of tying down every branch every other day. Is it going to keep growing all the way until harvest or stop growing and start focusing more on bud production?

If it helps at all Mini0n, I use plexi and I doubt there would be any other way to run 140w in my cab. If memory serves me correctly you can lose up to 10% of the light by using it, but I would take 10% less light over a heat stressed plant any day. Besides, if you can fit another 10w lamp in there you will have lost nothing but heat.

Also I have found that if I remove all the lower growth on the plant that hasn't made it to within about 1-2 inches of the canopy, I seem to have a lot more room for bending and tying down. The branches I take off would never amount to anything worthwhile, so again I find that the gains outweigh the losses.

Do you have a pic of your setup with the plexi? They way I'm visualizing it is a sheet of plexi that would keep the canopy from touching the light, but would also separate the intake fan from the exhaust. Now although this separation would not be air tight, I'm curious how this would effect temps.

Or a smaller sheet of plexi could be fitted somehow that would only cover the lights and let the plan still grow around it.

See, this is my first grow and I'm not sure which branches are not going to produce much. I know that the branches closer to stem are not going to produce as much as the top obviously, but since this plant is heavily LST'd with the main branch on its side, I've read that the lower branches are sort of tricked into thinking they are the apical branches as well. So I dunno...

Plexiglass/acrylic is a thermoform plastic, so if you have a heat gun and something a bit bigger than your light (rolling pin, PVC pipe or whatever) you can heat the plastic and shape it to your mold.

But it would be a lot easier to take a hole saw or dremel and just cut a hole in flat plexi for air to flow through. You could even just drill a grid of holes with a drill bit if that's all you have.

~UPDATE~ Day 22F

Switched to carbon filtered water because I got tired of going to the store and buying gallon jugs. Hopefully she likes it. Also removed a lot dead leaves from the bottom that weren't getting any light. It's pretty interesting how the dying leaves just pluck right off.

Fed today with straight carbon filtered water + 1/2 tsp pH up

Next feeding will be 1/2 tsp FFTB, 1/2 tsp Earth Juice Catalyst, 1/2 tsp pH up.

The yellowish parts is where it was too close to the light. I wonder what will become of these buds? They're pistil looked kind of shriveled up compared to the rest.

Some guy on reddit thought that because of the browning pistils early that it was herming and producing seeds judging by the first pic. Felt the bud and there were no seeds just softness. I think theyre browned early because alot of the buds are really close to the light and on the last cycle i waited a little too long to water and some of the leaves died but it recovered in very quickly. I had to remove alot of leaves that were dead or dying.

Never forget on Reddit it's not against the rules to troll people. And on the subreddits that it is against the rules, the mods probably won't catch it.
Be careful with their advice .

Looks like there's some sativa in her so a few more weeks might be in order.

Remember to check trichomes on the pistils, not the leaves.

Nice grow for your first time!
