NorthEast. Are your OD plants in transition yet?

My 2 Critical+'s in New England are in their transitional stretch now.
Has anybodys outdoor plants in New England begun their stretch yet as well?

My Mandala 1 are starting to stretch. They are already rather tall, and I'm a bit concerned.

My 2 C+'s are about 4' 6" tall and stretching pretty good now.

Yeah, concerned they could be spotted. Just out measuring them, 5' and sky's seemingly the limit.

If the top of the plant is obvious and it makes you nervous, I would listen to your gut feeling and try and bend the top over slightly/carefully with a rope or string or something. If its in a bucket, you can even lean the bucket on an angle and use garden stakes to hold up the ladies branches, as they too, try and become tops. This can even increase your yield alot.
This may help conceal her abit till you can harvest her?

Yeah Im not into stretch yet on any plants. For me its not until mid August that 12/12 starts. That being said Ive seen that some strains start to preflower weeks before that. This year the only plant that is transitioning right now is the Super Haze I have. It is starting to get bunchy tips showing some flowering as of this week. I think this strain will flower longer then my other plants, which I know will finish up in 7-8 weeks- WWxBB, AK, my own TW and Skywalker cuts.

The question mark for me this year will be Barneys Vanilla Kush, a freebie Skunk #11.

Are you in New England area? Or atleast around the same latitude?
Usually hazes are the plants that will start to flower last.
Did you do light depravation or is it flowering on its own?
Were Im at, all plants need to be harvested by Oct 7th at the latest.
So I cant use sativa dom plants. They have to be flowering for 8-9 weeks by Oct 7th or frost and super cold nights can hurt them. Ive covered the girls with clear 55gln trashbag liners for 2 weeks for some late flowering blueberry plants. Had to go to the spot 2x a day so they didnt get damaged. That sucked and could've got be caught.
Still wasnt done by Oct 15th so I had to bring them inside to finish the last 2 weeks.
Those were 12 week strains too.
So Ive learned to only use 8-9 week strains outdoors.....the hard way.

Yes to all that. Yeah thats my climate as well.

The Super Haze is just an experiment. I will have to take some stuff right at the beginning of October historically due mostly to wet weather and colder temps. My plants are not close to me, so I never have the luxury of covering them night/morning.

This is CH9 Super Haze and according to them it has phenos that finish in 8 weeks... its not pure haze, and its not the famous Super Haze that one the 1992 Cannabis Cup. Im not one to believe all the crap you read on breeders web pages... as you can see Ive been on ICmag a lot... I know whats up with seeds. But you pay your money and you takes your chances. I'll be psyched if I get anything halfway decent! Id love some sativa like smoke for the winter.

The plant is not flowering, but like a purple haze I saw at another members house a few years ago it is starting to "bush out" especially at the terminal cola much sooner then other plants at the same time near the same latitude.

But yeah over the years I only keep plants that finish up in 8 weeks outdoors, this is New England. I tried Mekong last year and it never finished and molded really badly. So Im just looking for something that works up here.

Right on. Mold is a huge issue for OD here in NE. Ive seen budrot on a bagseed Purple Mango plant that my boy grew as an experiment. Why waste good genetics on a spot thats not even tried or proven yet right? So I gave him some bagseed, that I got from an old friend, that gave them to me, to try outdoors. Just to test the spot out you know?

I just had stupid rabbits chew through all 12 of my Autos that I had OD right at the base of the cola that was flowering for 2 weeks. They even chewed thru half of my big C+ out there. It was a pretty thick stem. It was hanging down on the pot but still attached somewhat to the main stalk. I prob could have taped it up and ya, it would have been stunted and yield decreased, but I figured the rest of the plant will benefit, so whatever. Rabbits happen.

I know my C+'s are only in 5gln paint buckets and need to go in the 30 gln camo bags, but Ive been super broke and unable to get 6 bags of FFOF soil to do it. They are def rootbound in those 5's, but whatever.
Haveing them in the 5gln pots make them easier to move incase of emergencies, so I may leave them rootbound till harvest.. Ill still get a decent yield, just not a monster yield.

I was thinking about taking clones this weekend, rooting them in my EZ-Cloner which only takes 7-10 days to have giant root systems, and putting 50 of them OD to flower as a quick SOG. Around august 1st they would be put out. They are 9-10 week strains though and this worries me. But they should go into transition as soon as I put them out huh?
Thinkin they could be done no later than Oct 14th. Maybe a risk of frost, but the way summer seemed to come late this year, I just may be able to do a quick SOG from clone OD's. I could easily put out 50 in 2 gln smart pots.

I don't usually see preflowers or any sex indicators until about mid Aug maybe a little earlier. Usually don't like the stress of having buds out after the first week of Oct, weather is too unpredictable. (42N)
I remember a year or two that I could go out and harvest in a t-shirt, one year I had to harvest during a torrential downpour after days of rain, definitely remember at least one cold year, everything turned purple at end of Sept.

Alone - funny I've gone over the option/strategy of growing some 10+ week sativas, doing essentially what you said you did, covering them. But for the exact reasons you listed, have never committed to it. Don't know/think I could ever guarantee I could get out there enough to cover/uncover them daily etc to keep them from getting fucked. Sucks about the rabbits, haven't had the easiest year myself, tons of rain early this season.

Rained it did! Way to much, for like the first 2 months of the season. My 12 autos stretched bigtime. They didnt do to well in spot #1. In spot #2 however, Ill be able to get alittle Purple Kush in my jars. They are flowering right now. Tiny plants but they got 60 more days to flower.

I'm at 40n in the "Highlands " region. No rain in eight days, which is good. We had too much rain in late spring and early summer. And the last week of very warm weather. Plants seem to love the heat.........usually able to determine sex by last week of July here......

I have many strains that are in transition from pre-flower to full flower this week.
They were vegged inside under HPS/MH for months before going outside and the light cycle was tapered down to coincide with the natural light period. Also, they're in considerably large coco pots.

I also have many strains that are no where near their stretch/pre-flower/transition phase.

She usually gets a hair in the crotch aug 1-5th, indica creeper. Haven't checked the gals, but I love them all in by sep 20, oct 5th at latest! Very peace homies

Hey Alone-

I took clones from my OD plants last year. Due to some personal shit I had to get rid of everything for a while early summer last year. Went out and took cuts from the lower branches of the OD plants. Just the same as in your closet set up but outdoors. Took them and put them in a disguised cab for the rest of the winter. Long story short had plenty of clones of whatever performed best to try this spring.

The wet weather up here really killed me. Wiped out a bunch of nice plants in a lil stream side spot Ive been trying to use... but it is a bug swamp and shit just dies. lol

Culled a few males in July that broke my heart but am left with 8 beautiful 6' bushes in the rev's soil mix in 15 gallon smarties that started to grew pubes last week. Two indica dominant strains , alien grenades and so cal master kush. I've been feeding them sea green, rootamentary and neptunes harvest fish and seaweed fertilizer twice a week. So we got to make it another 10 or 11 weeks from today. Last year I got a little tea happy at the end and felt my plants finished with too green. This year I'm looking for a nice fade. So water only from the first week in September on.

I use FFOF soil and believe it or not I usually dont have to feed my plants anything but Cal-Mag+ every other watering.
This is because I start in solo beer cups. T/P into 1gln pots. Then into 3gln or 5gln pots.
Then I flip them to 12/12. So the soil is refreshed with new nutrients every time I T/P them into a bigger pot. They are still perfectly healthy and green at week 7 of flower and thats when I start the flush for 2 weeks of just water. Even then they still arent totally flushed where the leaves are depleted of nutrients and bright yellow. They would need a 3 week flush to deplete all leaves of their color. Its strong soil.
Saves alot of money on nutrients Ill tell ya.
These 2 C+'s I put OD's were my 2 mother plants that had been indoors all winter under a 4 bulb T5.

I put mine out mid july so I don't need to worry about stretch. Plants that are too big are easily found by the helicopters. I learned that lessen 10 years ago.
