24/7 on the drip rings... One thing you might try, especially if you are growing large plants, is to ditch the outer bucket of the waterfarm, and pick up one of those 18 gal totes, with a sturdy lid.
I would highly advise drilling about 50 1/4" holes in the bottom of the inner bucket. The stock holes are too small, and you will get unbelievable roots with the larger holes.
Carefully cut hole for inner bucket to fit in the lid of the larger tote, without dropping through. Add level tube if you want, fill to 2" below the growing bucket, and mark the tube. Cut a smaller hole in the tote lid to access the solution for testing.
I have used a system like this for years, and it really makes life a lot easier. 2 gallons of solution in the stock waterfarm bucket drove me nuts. So did lifting the plant out to change the res!
I also gave up on airstones completely, and use 1/4" soaker hose ($6 for a 100 foot role at Blowes)
Weight it down with a couple stainless steel bolts, and use some barb fittings to connect as you need. Makes a nice curtain of bubbles, and NEVER clogs!
Happy growing. I love waterfarms!
