Reputation - greyish vs green, and 50+ posts

I know the little blocks under your username are for the reputation system or whatever... when I go view my reputation comments, I notice some have a green block, and others have a greyish block. What is the difference between the two?

Also, will I be able to see who I got the comments from at some point? I have more than 50 posts (I think I am above 60 now?) and have been on for five days. I swear I am a real person, and not a spammer :D Trying to be patient, but I reached the 50+ mark yesterday, and I'd love to be able to PM folks.

Thanks in advance!

A grey block is rep from a new member. Their comment will be shown but no rep (or very little) is given. In order to leave a comment you gotta hit the scale icon. A green block is rep from a member with more than 50 posts. Rep is given, depending on the givers mojo, rep, whatever you call it.

After 50 posts you should be able to PM. Give it a shot. There is a thread out there that explains it far better than I can.

Thanks for the info about the rep. Much appreciated. :) I've had over 50 posts since yesterday (I think this one may be 68), but no go. I'll wait...

There is a time limit also... I believe it is a week.

Hang in there! And welcome to the grow!

in my opinion this reputation thing is a joke, a school girl thing to judge others, i will be happy to enable it when i will have 50 posts.
i see some icmag sunbscriber, donnor, ect the ones who paid to be on the forum neg rep me for nothing, some are jealous or are too coward to speak in private, even behind a computer screen so imagine the courage they could have in real life, its a bit scaring i think. anyway, im here to help learn and share.

Smurfette is wondering why her reps show up purple on my IC. I thought it was cuz she was under 100 posts but it still shows up purple. No biggie, just trying to figure out the system.

Does she have to be a member for a certain amount of time to make her reps count?

:yeahthats
dunno... about that
sorry u feel that way :huggg:
but i like the rep thing... not to get more rep or anything but just to show respect to users, link with ppeople, and I love to leave lil (or big) messages in the rep.... it's a fun way to communicate with users without PMing.
I very very rarely down-rep anything
and
the "no" to helpful answer rating is kinda funny anonymity... i don't use it either, but sometime it's funny how that thing works... i love finding the most downvoted comments they are usually funny....

it would be awesome if somehow sitemods could post the 100 most downvoted comments of all time on the forums... or like 50 most downvoted comments of the year... i think it would be a hilarious list!!!!

:ying:

Hilarity aside, I would not want to promote something so negative in nature... I prefer to point out the positive aspects and happenings of our times. :)... Like how peaceful and quiet this place has been lately. Must be that new troll repellent I am using.
