Flushing: Clearex or Water

I would like to see more information on this as well. So I am wondering how you came up with your information on secondary metabolic pathways for plant species??

Have found Clearex to be a VERY useful tool in deep water hydroponics. The science behind how and why it works is VERY solid for any interested the information is out there for sure.

It is NOT a snake oil by any means.

What it will not do is fix issues that are caused by over feeding the plants with to strong of a EC/PPM levels. Nothing will fix this except prevention!! Meaning running correct lower EC levels in the first place.

And FYI- You do not test this product by seeing how much lower the EC/PPM level is after a flush using the product. It does NOT work that way, or I guess you should say that is not a way to gauge or measure how well the product is working!! LOL!!

I get a kick out of seeing "test" threads or comments about testing a product when the person performing the test does not even understand how to set up a proper test with a "control" in the first place. Makes for VERY entertaining reading but that is about all.

Clearex per Botanicare's site is a leaching agent. It doesn't 'leach' salts any more effectively than plain tap water. At $36/gallon for sugar and water, what exactly would you consider snake oil?

Another solid thing is the company Botanicare itself that has been around for MANY years and they make great products, none of which are even close to being called "Snake Oil". Clearx has been on the market for MANY years and used by growers WORLDWIDE for MANY years now. It is even used in agriculture environments as well. The product as mentioned is backed by SOLID science.

If you do not like the product or wish to use plain water that is cool also and plain water can of course always be used, but to spread MYTH about the product is just not needed.

Reckon a test between clearex and quarter strength flower nutes would produce similar results , definately better than pure water.

Regardless of its efficacy , thirty dollars a gallon for a pinch of sugars is a bit rich , if the 95.5% inert is water.

The only reason flushing agents came about is to keep plants from going hypotonic. This only happens when u lower the osmotic pressure of the feed water, compared to the normal osmotic pressure of the water u have been feeding.

This only happens to some plants and cannabis isn't one of them. Fruit producing plants for example, if u water with a very low osmotic pressure, it can make them absorb larger amounts of water. This can cause the skin to crack or break, due to the higher rate of water absorption. Most clearing solutions are made to have a similar osmotic pressure as ur normal feed water, preventing hypotonic conditions.

I admit I have no clue whatsoever how Clearex works. If it dissolves salts then does that not mean it breaks salts into their ionic pieces...and does that not make them available to plants?

I am missing something for sure.

I could see if you had a big chelate molecule tying up ions and making them too big for the plant to absorb...does Clearex include some kind of synthetic chelate?

We all know that Water is a Solvent. But besides that why do people on this message board who claim to be intelligent continue to say that Clearex is a "chemical" is not organic or is otherwise somehow not acceptable to use in horticulture (particularly organic growing)? Botanicare makes the stuff. I don't use stuff in bottles, I make my own organic mixes, so I can't comment on the quality of their products and I really don't care. I just need them for this stuff. I have Fulvic and Humic acids and all the other microscopic organisms that will aid in the uptake of the food already in my buckets. I'm not worried about there being any build up either. I water often. 2/3 of the way through the photoperiod, I use Hi Brix. Then a tea full of beneficials and acids. Then the ClearEx. Finally, I water them with plain pH'd to 6.5 (at the most) water until the plant finishes its life cycle. I know each strain I grow like they are my children. They all like different things but one thing they all agree on: let the pots go really light right before you start doing what I said above from 2/3rds of the way through till the end. They all love this. I dry in a curing box for 7 to ten days then in the jars they go. When I crack open one of those babies, you can smell it down the block. I spit on dispensary "weed." That stuff that growers don't even bother trimming properly? How do you think they grew it?

So if someone has some legitimate reason not to include ClearEx in their process, explain it.

I think a low PPM/EC nutrient solution is a great flushing solution. Something below 300 PPM.
