Well I rearranged things today, with the goal of getting my temps under control again. I have been dealing with creeping temperatures over the past few months, and it was time to put an end to that. I ended up having to reseal the air cooled hood with foil tape. Then I brought the inline fan inside the tent, and shortened the duct length. Then, I re-angled the hood so that it goes diagonally now. This seems to help out drastically.

So now here is what it looks like in there:

The plants were all on a table this whole time, raising them up off the floor... I removed the table, when I brought the exhaust fan inside the tent. Now, they are down lower in the tent, where the fresh air is coolest. Of course, now that they are closer to the intake, there is room for one less plant... the intake duct takes up space of its own, and I can't route it outside of the tent because of space issues. Oh well.

At least it's a lot cooler in there now. 82 degrees. It'll have to do. The sadhu are doing well, and were never phased by the heat. I love the bud structure of this clone:

Oh yeah, and here's the harvest from the PNR:

Everything’s looking great, Hush. Love lemon skunk for daytime, need to function but wanna be mellow smoke. And PNR sounds like an excellent strain for b4 bed time, time to chill and be one with the sofa smoke.
Glad you made it to the bathroom b4 you passed out, that could have been much more unpleasant and embarrassing. Hope you don't have any more episodes like that, if you do you should get a check up just to be safe.

Well, I just harvested the Lemon Skunk. It's already gone over 10 weeks, and I needed space. This sativa pheno is much fluffier than the indica phenos I pulled out of the CFL cab. It's not much of a yielder, and there is no discernable aroma. I'm not sure if I'll keep this one around. Depends on how the smoke is. Here are the pre-harvest pics:

I defoliated one of the sadhus:

You're right, I haven't given her any face time. Strange. I'll take pics tomorrow. She is very bushy. The only one I've been able to take cuttings of, from this recent batch of seeds. I fim'd her on the day I put her into 12/12 and she now has 6 tops. Plus a bunch of side branches.

Also, the other seed plants, the Silver LA and the Stacked Kush, are starting to fill out and pack on some flowers. Once they are done I will reveg them.

She's just finishing her 5th week of flowering today. Tomorrow starts week 6.

Hey there:wave:

They're looking real nice man! Especially those Indy Girls. I have noticed something though, the sativa girls are getting burnt as! The nutes might be too strong for the sat girls. They generally don't need as much as the Indica girls. I am suprised you haven't noticed how bad the clawing is on them. So i suggest you lower the nutrients on the Sativa girls, they'll thank you for it:) Check out the 1st pic of post #42(tall girl on the right)...Also the 1st pic in post number #18 (2 tall girls on the far left.)

Other than that, your grow is looking awesome dude, and i appreciate all the pics and the nice layout of your thread.

No, you are correct, and I appreciate observations like that! I've known about the issue for a while now, and the truth is, as ashamed as I am to admit it, I just can't seem to stay on track of having multiple concentrations of pre mixed nutes around. I really have too much going on in my life right now and I have taken the lazy way out here, and decided to just feed all the plants the same. I try to feed the sativa ones less at a time, and I alternate feedings with just water, which helps some, but not entirely, as you have seen.

Good call pointing that out. I figured someone would sooner or later, lol. But the thing is I've grown like this before, cutting corners and stuff, and as long as I don't go too crazy the end result is still representative of what it will be like when grown perfectly. I just wanted to test out the high from these to see if they are worth keeping around in my limited mother quarters.

Those ones in the post you mentioned were really finicky sativa phenos of lemon skunk, and I knew right away they weren't the phenos I was looking for. Those went into the compost heap a long time ago. They were doing the claw thing right from the very beginning, in happy frog soil, and they just didn't like nutes at all.

Right now I'm still somewhat in a strain selection mode, but once I've tried out all the ones that are currently in here, then I will finally start just monocropping and growing my keepers out properly. I now know that in addition to the sadhu and pnr that I already had, I will be keeping 2 different phenos of lemon skunk, and probably the silver la which grows fat compact buds. But I'm still not sure about stacked kush, or the super silver. After they finish flowering I'll know what to expect in terms of flowering time and high. Each one will get their proper conditions in due time. Now that I have the 1000w grow, I'll be able to do 2 strains at once.

Now that summer is in full swing, I am officially having heat troubles in here. For the past couple of months I've been trying new things, experimenting in certain ways, but I can't keep the temps consistently low.

I really can't figure it out, other than to say that the radiant heat from 400 watts of HPS light requires more airflow than can be provided in a 2x2 tent. Unless I did a 2 stage ventilation setup, but in order to do that I would have to cut a hole in my DR60, which I don't want to do.

Interestingly enough one thing I have determined in my experimenting around is that HPS bulbs throw off more heat than MH bulbs of equivalent wattage. Who would have guessed that, right? There's all this talk about how HPS is more efficient than MH, and MH releases more heat than light, so I figured that MH would be the warmest. But nope. When I swap out the bulbs, the tent will ALWAYS measure about 3 degrees warmer with the HPS than it does with the MH. This is with everything else, all other variables, remaining exactly the same.

So, my options are to either run MH only in this tent, or to run the ballast at 50%. I have some thinking to do. One thing I am trying now which I haven't tried before is I'm flipping the night and day cycles, so the lights will be on at night time. This sucks because there are plants in various phases of flowering, but I had no other choice. I extended the dark period rather than the light period, in order to make this change... I hope it doesn't stress them out.

I all ways run the lights at night, Summer to keep it cooler and Winter to heat the house as I sleep...

I'm having great results running the 6400K (T5) in Bloom over the 3000k I normally use in Bloom so I think you might be happily surprised if you go that way...

Okay, so in addition to running the lights at night time, I decided to move the entire tent into the air conditioned room where my other tent is. I was surprised they both fit in there. So I'm going to let most of these plants finish, and then I'm starting over again.

This tent hasn't been optimal since winter time, so I look forward to making it work again.

Well I just put it all back to the way it was, with the HPS, while I let the sadhus, the silver LA, and the stacked kush finish. But after that, I will be putting the MH back in. It's funny you linked that thread, because it's one of the ones I'm subscribed to. I'm pretty sure I've posted in there before too. I love MH light. I like the fact that it's just white, and I can see the plants better, lol.

I haven't decided what I'll be growing in the tent next. Now that it's in the air conditioned room, the sky's the limit and I can grow however or whatever I want. I could pop some Far Out seeds. Or, I could wait til I have some clones of one of the lemon skunks... I guess I have some thinking to do.

The poor plants in this tent have really been suffering. I mean, if Mandala plants are suffering from heat, you know it's hot in there. Surprisingly, though, the Stacked Kush and the Silver LA don't look too bad. I think they are a bit airy, and stretchy, but they have actually fared very well.

By the way, it turns out the heat problem had to do with dust collecting on the exhaust fan's blades. It was actually slowing the fan down, making it unable to exhaust the heat properly. Live and learn, right? I obviously need to dust my house more! I cleaned the fan, and I'm pretty sure it's way less dusty in the room it is in now. I now plan on putting dust filters on all my intakes in the future.

Okay I thought about it over lunch and decided that I would really like to give Far Out a try again, now that I have the perfect environment. So, I have begun germinating 3 seeds. I will more than likely grow them in a hempy tub, and LST them.

I will start up a new thread when that happens.
