Germinating seeds in vermiculite?

So i've noticed at my local garden shop they are selling seedlings that look like they been germinated in vermiculite.

Is this a good method to germinate cannabis seeds? If so, do I still need to soak the seeds in water for 2 or 3 days before putting them into the vermiculite?

Any tips would help?
