San Diego Finest Cuts #3

Dang Humble that looks and sounds like one helluva creation! Kudos . The calyx to leaf ratio and general structure reminds me of J1.

hey maybe i can get your guys opinion .... i look for the burnt tips you see in the second pic.. i equate that to pushing the plant in a healthy-ish way....

is that right? i dont know much about it but i know that when i push plants and they put out they do that...

should i be trying to get the burn to minimal ... like dial back?
or should i go for more tip burn.. ?

does any of this make sense?... never really looked into it tbh....

i'm loving the bud structure, good looking gear man

Another project complete, I'd say it was a success. I know with a larger population something better could be found but I'm happy with what I got. I'd say the stability, based on traits passed from each parent, is excellent. There is 50% representation of both parents present in almost every characteristic. One thing stands out though, yield. Huge yields with this girl, atleast 50% larger yields than either parent's potential.

I actually have been seeing the same leaf shape / tips with my ish as well. I wouldn't say its temps though - my LEDs sometimes get all the way up to 76 degrees on hot days..

It might not be from nutrient burn. I run straight soil without feeding (just water) so I think its a lack of something.

Based on pics from around the web, I think its primarily a magnesium deficiency and minimally a calcium deficiency. I started to add a small amount of cal-mag to my water which so far seems to have solved the problem. Won't know for sure until I've run a couple more plants to prove the theory. Anyone else got ideas?

ive often considered it could have something to do with how fast she is metabolizing or related to photosynthesis... I know a couple incredible growers that say the furthur the burn the better... but no explaination??/

doesnt seem to hurt them does it?

Do you know what EC you are feeding at?

I feed from 1.9-2.2 EC and get minimal tip burn.

Yea I got nothing there... I feed organically and brew 90%... so ph and ppm isn't something I've looked at in a while since I've been on this mix a bit now and have a good feel for it for the most part...
Looks like I need to start paying more attention lol

***it does seem however whenever i see it is when growth rates are at their peak.. or thats what it seems like for me... would u say thats true that you dont really see it in presence of deficiency or problems?

ive had it on several strains now that all turned out nice... heres a snoman/diesel pheno of grape stomper bx2

Fucking rats! Just lost 1/3 of my veg tent and 1/4 of my flower in a single night due to the vermin finding their way in and deciding the bark of my favorite strains was a delicacy.

if you "Push" a plant too late it will throw new pistols and those are new growth, so it fucks the whole thing up, they never finish and you are stuck with buds that look like beasters

this is why folks looked into products like megaton and bushmaster

phunk that BS

If you are using a good base soil with a decent buffet of amendments in it...and you are using a well made activated compost tea, your micro herd should keep the ph in check for you. I have been running organic soil since late 2005 and have never even given a second thought to ph. It's just not an issue in an organic setup.

This is, of course, just my opinion. Bt it's an opinion formed from 8 years of trial and error.

yea thats basically why its not something i look at... in order for my herd to multiply to mega status the ph has to be in range.... so if i see that lofty head on my brew i know im good;)

omri everything... i really dont think it correlates to deficiency...

rather i think of it like a human thats in great shape that runs 20 miles a day.... they are in hella good shape but your damn sure they got some hurting callouses on their feet... like stress as side effect of being so healthy/active....

this is a stange metaphor but u get the idea...

I'd have to differ that tip burn caused from misapplication is nothing like a callus that builds up with normal use. I have no doubt from your pics that your smoke is fire with lots of appeal but I'd be willing to bet it could be even better if you get that issue under control. IME whenever you eliminate a particular stress no matter how small the results are always positive

I've run semi organics since the beginning, but have taken a much more simplistic approach in the past year or so. Feed the soil and the soil will nurture the plant. I tossed my pH pen a long time ago. Filter the water straight from the tap and that's it. Well amended soil, teas...things like aloe vera and sprouted tea extracts, occasional compost tea and coconut water, humic acid drench.

20 gallon pots that will be no tilled into the next crop cycle. Just cut finished flowers and insert next plant, top dress with kelp, crab, karanja, comfrey, rock dust, etc. and top with an inch or two of EWC.
