If you want to see what the Lumigrow equipment is capable of with the right strain and a dialed system, check out some of SOTF420's pictures of the Sweet Tooth that he grew under the earlier model Lumi (ES330) in the Survival of the Fittest seed forum. I would assume that they have improved the newer models somewhat over a 5+ year old design. Anyhow, SOTF has numerous pictures where he held gallon milk jugs beside the buds to give a sense of scale. Impressive.

we have to be careful, as he pushed them a little too much for my liking. like if he was a "spokesman" or something.. not sure if he worked at greners or who knows, but I get weary when someone tells someone to buy something in every post they make.

I'm not saying this as I never got that, as I never could ( DJ plants ) so yield discussions I can never join, but if someone wanted a quality light, sure I could recommend them, as you said, the lights have to have improved since the old models..

is the layout the best design? no. but is anyone's I've seen? no. they don't understand you can't pack 300 watts into a little box, middle is blasted while sides get low light, also having to raise the light killing levels once it reaches the leaf.

good to see you around rives, thought you might have left the LED for good..

soooo is a 450 watt LED going to replace my little 400 watt HPS & table? Or no . . .

One wouldn't think it too difficult; I average an ounce or two/plant with 4 or 5 plants . . . is it possible with out hanging 2 lights? to you know get full coverage?

No one seems willing to give this proposition a straight reply . . . it's like it's a shell game?

being Guys, we love math & talking DIY & what not, but let's cut to the chase here

1 400 to 450 wt LED hanging over a table of 3 or 4 plants each should yield 2 ounces indoors . . . that's all I want :)

As Habeeb alluded to above, I'm on a temporary hiatus from flowering under LEDs, but I used both an ES330 and my DIY Hybrid fixture for a combined total of 3 years or so. I almost always averaged between 3-4 oz per plant across a number of varieties. The only exception was Sour Bubble, which is notorious for being a low yielder, and I averaged about 2-1/2 - 2-3/4 zips with it.

Again, as Habeeb mentioned, the biggest problem that most of us have seen with commercial fixtures is the form factor. They put too much power in too small of an area - LEDs do a very poor job of lighting up nooks and crannies, and in my experience, do the best job on a footprint that is about 4" larger than the fixture in each direction. 450w actual watts of LED will kick the bejesus out of a 400w sodium if it is of decent quality. The problem will be in getting the spread to cover your table. My ES330 did a good job in the lengthwise dimension in my 30" x 30" tent, but needed some help on the sides. Power wasn't an issue, coverage was. I think that most of us have come to the conclusion that using multiples of smaller fixtures to get good coverage is the way to go.

Be careful of the cooling fans - some of the commercial fixtures sound like a service station hot-air hand dryer.

lmao! That would not be good!

I am beginning to see the light, truly!

Thanks so much for your input!

perhaps getting 2 slightly smaller units of 200/250 wts & hang over said 2 1/2 X 4 foot table is the way to go . . .

I'll prolly only need them for a few grows, then I'll either be dead of jigger -itis, or be back in Santa Cruz area. Surely they'll dispense my there . . . .

of course this grow your own thing is highly addictive . . .

lucky,

never heard of a table different dimension then 2x4. but anyways, I would shoot for a 2x2 coverage area, split into two. there is many models out there to compliment a 2x2 area. that dimension there is no light of to even coverage it.. none.

now I'm not going to be responsible for what you pick.. just look at the shapes ( square ) to know if it fits a 2x2 area. you can look for rectangle shape to hit your size 2x 1/2 X 2 if you like. I just find that number odd for some reason, so I have something against it...

if your aiming for 2 ounces, hell your in for alot more then that.

good luck

small panels ARE very good

They are positioned at different angle around the plants

thanks for all responses . . . yes the table may be in fact 2 X 4 . . . it's at an undisclosed location, a location so secret I have trouble finding it!

what say you to this model Apollo: 180x3w Apollo Led Grow Light at 540 watts
the light dimensions are 28.25x11x3 . . . very rectangular........

One light still may not offer full coverage, but the part of the plants that are, will they not more than make up for some airy popcorn's that are on the side?

People are growing so much pot this this light they are spitting up & losing their bongs!!
At least that's what I read on the internet! and it's all true right? lol!

Pardon, I'm a feeling a bit silly this morning . . . must be cause tomorrow is my Birthday . . . good news: I'm still here . . . bad news, I'm a year older!

I just went thru Oneshot's journal, nice! The Apllow above is the big bro of the 2 he used to get nearly 1gr/wt . . . . impressive!
