lol ok i will stop beating up on the sun...lol but come on if not growing outside,,cloudy cool weather in our grow rooms,,so much easier to control especially for us who dont have built in air con [my moby air -con is rubbish for using in the grow,,at full power will only take the room down a degree or two],,s2

People here [spain] with indoors run Cheese during Summer, the Exodus clone deals with an environment higher than 30 degrees better than most, plus, adding CO2 can also help gardens deal with higher temps.

Also, it is the last 2 or 3 weeks when high temps cook your terpenes, if you raise your lights and turn half of them off for the last weeks, you hardly loose any yield, the plants have made all their calyxs, they are just fattening them out by then, cut the light and heat, loose hardly any yield, but get a good quality crop, not a Summer Schwaggly half arsed thing.

Another mate is staggering his start, only firing up 2 out of 4 lights initially at 8pm, the other 2 at 10 or 11pm, ... doing this at 8pm stops the 4 lights whacking up the temps all night long. Likewise, shading the area you draw air in from makes a massive difference, especially as hot surfaces retain heat and continue to warm the garden when you want it as cool as possible.

thanks chaosc for sharing that,,i have often wondered how people in very hot countrys deal with the heat when growing indoors not including those with built in air-con systems,,was debating knocking a lamp out if temps get silly hot in the last few weeks before harvest,,,been very lucky so far in the uk with very cool weather but i dont think it will last especially now i am about to put a crop outside lol thanks again chaoscat,,peace and regards to barcelona,,,stiges,, and anywhere else in catalan....944s2

Temps here in 30s its hard to breath let alone grow lol, sweat just pours out of you all day and grow turned almost tits up but I turned off the lights and they pirked up, but now I have to get a qualified a/c engineer up there to fit the a/c unit then need to hide all evidence of growing including taking mylar down. But will be up and better in no time. :tiphat:

HEAT - The Red Bitch.

HEAT - The Red Bitch.

Hi Folks,
Jeez its been hot here in the UK the last couple of days. My loftie's got up to 31 yesterday! I'm growing at night but the day temps are getting higher & higher. I turned off one of the input fans as it was drawing hot air into the room and fighting the A/C. Once I had done this and turned the exhaust fan down, the temps dropped to about 27. Still too hot for the rest period and I know they will have been held back by this heat, so the motivation to sort it is strong. :dance013:
I've got some more work to do on the ducting layout to my room, as it's not running at max efficiency at the moment. Need another 6" hole in the chimney, a task which I almost completed today. I have a couple more bricks and stuff to drill out tomorrow & it will be ready for the ducting. As the pipe goes in quite close to the chimney top, I've attached a length of flexi-ducting to the 'inside' of the pipe, that will hang down the chimney and expel the exhaust downwards. This will stop the 'air' noise at the chimney.
So about an hours work getting the ducting in to the chimney, then re-arrange the fans & ducting inside the growroom. I really must finish the job tomorrow as the heat is only gonna get worse.
However, the up-side is that the res chiller is working like a charm. As long as the roots stay cool, the canopy can respirate to keep itself cool and so far everything looks peachy.
Stay safe people & happy growing :tiphat:

hiya,,well timed harry! good luck once its sorted,,
dank d,,nice one getting proper air-con fitted,,,,,,,, good luck iffy,
no-can do where i am as conservation area so only have a mobile air-con unit which is useless and only brings temps down a degree or so,,89deg last night but plants seem to be ok ,,having more of a problem with hotspots from diamond reflectors so have moved them a full 18inches from the canopy,,less power down but bigger footprint,,swings and roundabouts really but dont want my girls getting burned badly,,,,,,,s2

Have 12 feet of chimney above an upstairs fireplace , and use the old coal flue for venting.

Did not expect condensation to be a problem , but it caused substantial and uninsured damage in one cold winter to floor and ceiling joists and wrecked old plaster and lath ceilings on two floors.

Cheap offcut /remnant off fleabay of twinwall flexible flue liner with a sump to catch condensation runback sorted it , looks identical at night to burning coal or wood .
