100% germ rate and growing but i suck at getting any seedlings through the first 2 wks.

i have some environmental issue b/c on some seedlings the stem near the medium goes funky and doesnt grow and they die.

ive changed medium / water / checked for any bugs or anything that just doesnt look right but im stumped at the moment.

as far as the 10 or so growing they look healthy, green and happy and keeps me scratching my head as to what I am doing since this has plagued me ever since i started growing.

i have clones rooting also w/no issues and i always get 98% success on cloning so i hope to find the problem.

The "WAR On the WHITFLY" (anyone remember the Med fly, and the aerial goodness sprayed all over our homes fighting it?) is on going, But getting better everyday! I've applied the Azamax for the third time.

  • Veg Box's; No fliers, very few flies found.
  • Flower; Very few Fliers, only when shaken or disturbed, noticeably fewer then before. Some fungus flies.
Like I said, this has been an ongoing fight, so I wasn't over run...just couldn't get ride of them. I'm going for complete eradication:mopper:!

When I have issues, I try to go back to basics. From time to time I have to work my ass off to get health clone, sometime it's just to easy.

With seeds I almost always use a rapid rooter plug and then in place that in a plug tray, no dome ass close to the light as possible without burning it or drying the plug out before I can water it again. I keep the plug looking like "chocolate cake" in color, if they look like a "milk chocolate cake" they are to dry.

The nice thing about the plug and the plug tray is I can set up support for the little fucker if it falls over! Plastic tooth pics work wonders.

Anytime , we all need a sounding board!

Here's my current head scratcher, though sitting here smoking some, it sure gets rid of any itches you have, is WTF is this girl?
I mean I just don't think she is a C99xBX1 , she just to fucking different. Now I'm no expert, but I read enough to know something, and also enough to know I know shit...if that makes any sense. ( like I said I'm pretty high)

This is the #5 pheno I found in a 10pk of C99xBX1. I first went with the #2 pheno, it had what seemed to be all the right things. Big fat cola, strength , without to much stretch.
The #5 didn't seems as nice, and deffantly need attention during flowering or you end u with a bit ball of gooo.

Like this one.

Unlike #2 she'll take all the nutes you throw at her with minimal burn (#3 would have been a cinder and #2 would be not far behind) she will do just fine on weak sauce...and still keep a dark green leaf. The fan leaf grow on long stems that are covered in sticky trics. I cut the first one (above) to early and like I said "she endured some neglect.....(the worse form of abuse...n/m), she turned our nice. Something told be she wasn't done, like the microscope, a real "dooohh" moment.
So I cut clones and took better care of the the three in the flower box. Trimming the fan leafs made all the difference in the world.

This one below is (9.5 weeks), this one didn't look ready but the other two check out fine with the scope, so I cut those and left this one .....till she looks done.

I haven't said shit about the smell, it's always smelled much different the the others, more like the two "kushes" I've had then any of her "sisters".
The uncured, can't wait, fuck it so fucking wet that it's taking for ever to dry smoke report is , holy shit I can't wait till I've got some cured! Oh, yeah the , smell, it over welmed my oder control, and at this point I know why but I haven't have any problems before. I will make corrections ....especially with bubba come down the pike.

Here's the #2 Pheno, not lookin' to bad.

OK CHEEB,no problems bro,do what ya can!

The thing with babies is,THEY NEED STRONG LIGHT.
The stronger the lights, the shorter they stay, you never wanna
see babies get any bigger than 2 inches....after they pop an stop
stretchin in the first week, max 3 inches.....then they start putting out leaf,
use soil for better germ health also less stretching, plugs work with good lighting
but can rot or dampen off quickly or get to tall an fall over....a shure stunter when small.
Having to stake up an support babies means not enuff light strenght,a newbies most
prevelant mistakes in growing....getting passed the 2 weeks an hardening them up.......
Babies need moister in the air,the more the better as in our FL humidity!!!!!!!!
PLANTS LOVE IT,buds dont.....give them LIGHT,let them BREATH,an its a go.....
people dont realize how important that first 2 weeks is,the faster you get them hardened
off an running the better your yields will be at the end!!!
DONT feed them to much,or anything really until hard enuff, they lock up easy, another
shure fired stunter that babies HATE,an a newbies other mistakes with babies......Less moister in soil/mediums is one
thing that helps NOT damping off, water sparingly for 2 weeks
and water away from stalk at the edge of your pots/cups.....
Good luck,an show us some pics CHEEB!!!

LG,

thx 4 the info. i am going to bump up my veg wattage and go to led's to stop stretching.

i dont feed anything except ph'd tap water for the first few weeks and this round i reduced it to an initial soaking of the fine coco and i water by bottom feed. i was trying to prevent excess moisture around the stem.

too little light is probably my biggest issue so ill add extra today.

the first 2 weeks is my weak area so all input from experienced growers is appreciated more than you know.

pics comming and have a great 4th all.

damn dude, is that bug damage or one hell of a flush? I know back when I had them they ate my yield, if I remember I had 6 plants that yeilded 6 zips under 1k,horrible. that was my only run in with pests (so far) and also the only time I neglected putting no pest strips in my areas. I ended up using the bayer systemic to get rid of them also. that is some strong rugged smelling shit

Flushing... she blushes and purples nicely with a good flush and cooler temps...can go almost solid purple with enough love:tiphat:

i get this too. i think it has to do with some sort of nematodes in the water, or just too much moisture in general. i water only drops around the base to keep it moist the first week. i want it to not be soggy, they seems to make it that way. if it's too soggy the stem rots and then they fall over and die.

I think your on to something with "to much moisture", I've noticed that it seems to be harder to clone when it's real humid.
What I mean is I have to be real careful or the little growing tips rot on me. From that point it takes a clone for ever to get any kind of growth again, unless I really need the clone I just dump them a that point.
