A short smoke report on the quick dried small bottom buds from the Liamba.
Smoked a pinner of the #5 this morning and it is very strong high, flavor to be investigated further, not the woody flavors that are the usual. Nice buds, not a big producer but lots of trichomes.

I just find out today that I have a place to grow a few of these lovely ladies out in the open sun as they should be. So soon I hope to post outdoor pictures.
This one is really different. She went into flower with the first batch and is still going strong at 11+ weeks. She also stands out because of the alternatively stacked calyx's. Every other Angola I've grown had the tufted buds at the nodes and this one is different. I wonder where that comes from?
I just smoked a quick dried sample of the lower branches and it's at least as strong as the others. The flavor was pretty green because of the way it was dried and the amount of leaf in the joint. I hope these next couple of weeks she puts on more resin and flavor. But a very nice clear ride to go with this mornings coffee.

I remember having two different types of seeds from LMN some were labled Verde and sone Rojo, are they all the same and he kept separate the ones that showed red pistils and bred it into another line? My memory is not all it used to be.
Where is Raco, Master of all Ancient Texts and photo's? I'm sure he remebers.

This year I will grow some Angolas X Meao Thai for sure and maybe in the future, after some projects I have going on, I will sprout some seeds from a different angolese line brought from Malanje village by someone and shared some time ago. I would like to compare them with the ones from LMN and Congolese lines. But there are too many strains to be grown and reproduced before they get too old! Someday in the future I will love to have the oportunity to run a full african grow and be able to compare side by side Malawis, Angola, Ghana, Congolese, Ethiopian Highland, Zamal... and make some "afrohybrids" too with them to spread the love!! Same with SE Asia and India some day! Let's keep on dreaming, it's a long term project!
As far as I know and others said, you are pretty right Randy... he bred both lines separately although the original seeds came all from the same liamba angolese seeds shared by a friend who later died in hands of the angolese guerrilla! Greens are stronger as well, right?

I am growing some Angola Thai now too, my last seeds and using the males to reproduce and keep the Angola going for my stash.
It's been a real long time since I've grown the Roja or the Congo, I can't remember which one is stronger, but the Verde is very nice, especially after is cured for a while. I have such a hard time not breaking into it early though, that earthy with a side of exotic spices flavor is always calling me.
It would be exciting to see some different plants from Angola, these are the only ones I have ever seen. I'll be watching for sure.
Man I dream of having a huge climate controlled greenhouse dedicated to saving land race lines and being able to have enough light and room to move around the plants freely without having to try to squeeze another plant in or limiting pot size, height and width.
I was just working with some old LMN Kota Kota seeds trying to pop them, they were from a friends collection, which he hadn't kept refrigerated, none popped, what a dissapointment. Lesson for everyone, KEEP YOUR SEEDS REFRIGERATED, in case you don't know, they remain viable wayyy longer. My friend only had the seeds for about 6 years and they went bad.

Yeah you are so right! I try to keep all the seeds in the fridge, stored in a dark tupper in individual zipbags or vials with rice, I was even thinking in dividing the stash and freezing some of them too for even longer storaging and having two sources of the same seeds just in case! It's the way to keep them viable and maximize the chances of getting them sprouting.
Never seen "Kotakota" plants but I've read in the old Mozambique post from LMN that they were some of the strains they received from that region: Maconde, Kotakota and Shuruma. He also said that Kotakota were somehow similar to Malawis, not like the Macondes. It's a shame that no one survived. Some Maconde pics here:

Thank you Shokdee. I did not make this cross myself but am crossing it to the Angola female's I have, so next round it will be 3/4 Angola.
Weather it's crossed with the Thai or not it's a nice smoke. I have had great luck with the Angola Thai but even better is the bag seeds I found in the last run of Angola and Angola Thai.
