ISSUE After HARVESTING

ok so I was over my buddys house this morning.. and we are waiting for his buds to dry.. its been 11 days.. and there still pretty moist.. the issue is.. its been between 80-95 F during the day time.. and 60-70 F at night.. outside.. in the room hes drying in. its 68-72 and he cannot get the humidity in the room below 50% so its literally taking FOREVER to dry.. hes wondering what he can do to get them to dryout faster..

he is using an window AC to cool the room .. hes just drying in his bedroom he has nowere else with an AC and dry at the moment. so anyways. he said wen he puts his dehuey in the bedroom with the AC.. the AC wont cool the room as the dehuey is heating it up? is this normal ? how can he take care of this issue.

anyone have any ideas .. toss them out? I told him to put the dehuey in there and blast the AC.. and try to see were the temps and rh get to and let me know... anyways ..

I cant help him because honestly.. I usually harvest my shit between feb and april.. and then shutdown for summer because its tooo hot to keep the rooms cool....

whats a good temp and rh to try to achive with the dehue and ac working together? or just dehue and say fuck it n let it get up to 80 or higher degrees F but less humid???????

A quality refrigerated A/C unit works also a dehumidifier so I hope "your friend" is not running a evaporation cooler AKA swamp cooler and a dehumidifier as that is not likely to work. Just using a quality refrigerated AC unit will cool and dehumidify the room. Lets see the setup.

How does he have it hanging? Whole plant? How trimmed are the buds? What kind of air movement are we talking about? If he wants to speed up the drying process I'd increase temps slightly and decrease RH. I'd get them down to the smallest "unit" possible, i.e. strip large stems down to small buds and place them on one of those hanging drying racks. Trim them up as much as possible. Make sure you've got plenty of air movement. I'd have an exhaust to outside with a passive intake from a RH and temp controlled room. Unless your A/C and dehuey can keep up.

You are correct in saying that a quality A/C will work as a dehuey, but that's only if your A/C is running constantly. I live in a 700 sq ft apartment and have a badass central heating/cooling unit. That being said it doesn't run constantly because it's quite efficient. I keep my thermostat at 68 religiously and without my 70 pint dehuey running my RH will get up to 75-80% easy. Why? Because the A/C only comes on a few times per day even when it's 90. At night when the tent comes on it's 60 degrees outside so the A/C barely kicks on. Factor in 5 large plants getting constantly drip fed and 2 people showering (plus outside weather) and it's not too hard to understand how an efficient A/C unit may not meet all your dehumidification needs.

If you get a unit, I'm really gay for the one I got from Lowe's. It's got a built in pump so you don't have to be a slave to emptying the bucket. It's really quiet too in the event you have to "live" around it. The 30 pint GE unit I returned made my 6" inline fan sound like a kitten purring.

thanks guys.. so anyways.. he picked me up yesterday.. and we went to homedepot and lowes.. checked out a new 18,000btu ac with a good dehumid mode.. and a nice small great dehumidifier .. .. he spent 900 bucks.. and decided to get both.. we got back to his place and set them up.. we got some hoses for the dehumidifier instead of having to empty it all day. we have the dehumifier 4 feet in the air on a dresser with the hose going into a 30 gallon trash barrel outside of the room.. the trash barrel has a pump to pump the water anywere he wants to put it . and after everything we got the room controlled perfectly.. he can set temps and humidity to whatever he wants and bam the room is controlled to dry.. I convinced him that it was worth the few ozs of bud to buy the equipment so that he doesn't mold his crops ever! .. not to mention.. now once hes done using it for drying.. he will toss it in his grow room . and then all he needs is an environmental controller and hes got everything he needs !..

anyways thanks guys.. Im jealous of his new equipment lol.. within like 10 mins of turning the new AC on the entire room was down to 62 ..and humidity just dropped.. and he turned the dehumid on .. and boom he can drop it down to like 20% if he wants to ...
