When do they start to smell?

When do your plants normally start having a strong odor? I just saw my first pistils and they are autos. They smell pretty strong when i put my nose in em but they don't smell out yet.

depends on the strain, they can start smelling from seedling stage. just get your carbon filter in place. you won't like it when you come home one day and surprise your house smells like fucking weed all over.

With any luck, not until after they're cured! There are plenty of strains around that don't smell enough during flowering to be a security concern and yet after curing they smell oh so good and the potency is up there also!

This. Absolutely. As I understand it (very limited experience) some strains are low odor or have a non-MJ odor even when flowering, some reek insanely, some fall in between.

Best to be prepared, particularly when growing something unfamiliar.

Depending on the strain, they can sometimes be pretty stinky while vegging.

But most of the time it's not too noticeable until you start to see trichomes forming.

However i would recommend carbon filtration during all stages of growth, just to be safe.

In my experience most plants start to smell in veg. The smell is subtle and you may not notice it when you're next to them but you(or somebody else) will get a whiff when you're outside of the room or in another part of the house..

And contrary to marketing, I've yet to run a strain that doesn't smell like weed. Sure, there'll be different smells and odors for each strain and some will be more pungent or floral than others but when you get down to brass tacks...

THEY ALL SMELL LIKE WEED!

Carbon filters are a must at all times.

Like it has already been said,it depends on the strain.I have seven different strains going at the moment, and none are noticable smell wise until I chop, then all bets are off.Satori,North London Church,White Jones,Grandoggy Purps,Deep Strawberry Deisel,Rainbow Jones and White Jones.Bob

About 3 weeks in you'll start to smell the goodness at your front door if it's a semi pungent stain, if not sooner. Like some have said vegging plants can smell up the place pretty good. A carbon filter will work wonders. And like i8 said harvest time is the stinkiest well especially if your having a trim party with a couple trimmers and a few plants hanging the oder really travels.

I haven't, but Big Bang has Skunk in its ancestry. There's a reason they call it "Skunk Weed". You likely need a filter. I like the Phat brand, haven't used anything else yet. Obviously, some other brands are also good.

Equipment is usually cheaper online, but it takes awhile to arrive. You probably don't want to come home someday soon and suddenly realize that you needed a filter yesterday. My limited experience is that odor can increase dramatically in just a few days as the plants mature.

never ran either of them. never even heard of green label.

more important than when these will start smelling is why you want to know.

if it's because they're not stinking enough, try a sweetener. there are a dozen different ones.

if it's a security concern, don't wait. get a good scrubber. walk around outside regularly and make sure you're good.

did i miss anything?

After 2 days in the heat my nuts smell like a mofo. It may differ for you though. :)

My outdoors plants get pretty stinky when the flower buds show. Some varieties are worse than others. Last summer the AC installer could smell my MMJ garden from the porch. He is cool with it as he just installed a huge industrial grade AC for a commercial MMJ operation.
