Any experience with Integrated LEDs?

Been keeping an eye on the forum for a while now, but have had nothing to contribute so far.
I want to upgrade from cheap 90W, tri-band UFO, for something else, also cheap but with more power for my closet grow hobby. Have been looking around and found these:
http://www.vanqled.com/ledgrowlight/index_xx.asp?id=465

and these:
http://www.ledaquagrow.com/products.asp?bid=17

Both offer custom spectrum's, at an extra cost...

The Ledaquagrow look a lot like the HyrdoGrowLed Sol lights that start shipping 20 April.

I'm contact both companies to get some pricing.

Has anyone used these lights that are made up of these integrated chips before?

I've dealt with VanQ. Nice guys over there. Have yet to complete the spotlight, so no personal experience with performance, but I mean... they should work.

A downside to these multichip LED's is it's expensive to selectively coat dice with phosphor, so you're looking at either all chips or no chips covered with phosphor. People are getting away from Blue LED's more and more and using White for their Blue/Green/Yellow/Amber needs, but it's hard to incorporate White's of any CCT into your mix.

Another downside would be efficiency. They're not as efficient as name brand, top bin LED's.

Plus side? They really pack a punch. You can fit about 100W of LED into the same surface area as you could a couple 1-5W units like you see on most panels. Spectral mixing is also very high. Your entire tent should see very homogenous light qualities with very little shift from one spot on a plant to another.

The Vanqled looks very interesting. Price?

Reading up on their marketing info, you only want/need ~ 10% 410 & 660 during mid-late flower. If they put that in the center (on a separate o/o switch) they would have something really good.

If the Ledaquas had ~70% NW (and only ~ 10% 410-430) it would be very good

I received an offer from them and the prices were more than affordable. Unfortunayelly I lost the document somewhere but if I will find it I'll share that info with you guys.

Have got some pricing from both:
LedAqua price for 200W unit -> USD158 plus $77 shipping
Spectrum but not the proportions though is: 630nm red+660nm dark-red+460nmblue+610nmorange+ 440nmblue+740nm IR

Vanqled price for 200W unit -> USD250 plus $90 shipping
That's for standard colour spectrum: 4:1, red blue

The question now is, I'm immediately drawn to the cheaper one, as I'm on a budget and it's only a hobby grow for me. Last time I bought the cheap ebay 90W UFO which..do I shell out for the more expensive model with a glass lens or the cheap one, they have the same type of chips it seems, plus the cheap one has an nice looking heatsink, sunflower type that I have seen on the new LED down lights I put in my house. They look like they will be better a drawing the heat away from the center than the standard heatsinks that are just straight fins. Plus they look a lot like the HydrGrowLed ones, just not with the same marketing shpeel about copper cores etc.. at almost half the price though..will it just be shit like my UFO?

Totally concur. I'd give you some rep but it says I have to spread it around some.

Save your money or build your own. You can build a top quality fixture - cree or phillips top bin LEDs, with quality, efficient drivers and excellent heatsink for about $3 per real watt. Unknown brand, unknown bin chips are hardly worth their solder for the most part.

Interesting that you mention 'solder'. It's the weakest link in any multi-diode solder design.

MChipsets are more likely to have press fit connections, or at most only 2 solder joints

i dont think they are cheaper because with personal custom i've paid'em 295 $ x 2 plus 130 $ of shipping plus 80 $ of fees so it's like to buy from a seller ! those are my 2 cents ;)

@jeans91: Did the custom officers asked you to open the packages to inspect them ? Or you had to pay just a % from the declared value ?

yeah ive been looking at those 50-500w led's but those seem to be an array of led diodes on one die (if i have the terminology correct?).

What happens if one burns out?
a. do they all quit lighting up?
b. if it still lights up: does it pull less current, or are the others overdriven?

I bought the cheaper LedAqua model, with their standard colour range COB. It works really well, fans much quiet than the 90W ebay UFO I had before. Much less stretch during first weeks of flower. Don't have access to a killawatt meter so don't know true power draw but it produces much more heat than the UFO and CFL combination I had before. That tells me it's closer to the 200w rating on the label.

So far the buds are looking good, even after I overdosed them on the nutes and had to flush several times to aid in recovery.

For the money I paid well work the upgrade from CFL and UFO.

Good luck with your integrated led!
I got something similar going...hope these things flower well
I noticed a heat increase too, I'm about to switch out the fans on mine to try and cool it down
The fans from china really are a piece...
I noticed yours has sunflower heatsinks probably runs cooler then mine
