White ash or charred?

A question for you who smoke pipes, bongs etc.: when you smoke a bowl of weed, do you smoke it all the way, until it's reduced to white, or light gray ash, OR do you only char the weed and burn all/most of the trichomes, and toss the rest of the black stuff away?

I know I'm not the only one who does the latter, because I've read a post here on ICMag by someone who does the same. And yes, my weed is properly cured and it does burn to white ash, if I want it to.

I do both, depends on how big I pack the bowl...

I always start with a fresh bowl...Pisses my buddies off, kinda like shaking 1/2 a joints worth of bud on the ground off my rolling magazine...

I mostly just char the buds and toss it after each bowl...I have become wasteful in one sense and healthier on the other as I am not taking in as much burnt hydro-carbons.

Least that's my reasoning.

I just char the buds...after being exposed to flames once or twice, all you are really doing is smoking plant material with no trics left.

If im low on smoke ill smoke it to the finger nail or white ash, if I got plenty usually half a j or charr the top of a bowl, unpack, repack, resmoke and repeat.

what does this mean?

Means he doesnt smoke it all the way to ash, couple hits, little charred and repleace, best way to maintain taste.

i only smoke a bowl(glass)...and my weed generally just gets charred, never totally white ash..I find i suck the ash if I smoke it all the way down to white...and as someone stated all the trichs are gone,,,I basically am done with it...when there is maybe one last haul left...then i take my handy knife and clean her out for the next round...

SO char...never white ash here

Smoke Snaps all day - gandolph pipe only on occassion - smoke the bong snap or big bowl pack to white ash because usually I'm only taking one big hit and I don't want to relight/toke some charred shit like you guys but if its a big bowl - i or we usually smoke it to the point its not completely white - but when ashed its a nice cone of 95% burnt weed.

yeah i know of your mentor. i still maintain that's a huge waste of weed. i smoke the shit till its white ash everytime, blunt/bong/bowl/joint. only exception is vape, and i've been known to burn some vaped weed during the lean times. i'm all about conservation of energy. wasteful to expend all that energy into growing then not converting that energy back into being fucking high as fuck.

I barely even smoke flowers anymore. Almost always smoking on concentrates. But when I do smoke flowers, I only take a few hits and dump the blackness in a designated ashtray. I save all my half joint roaches and give them to my friends as presents- they love it!! When I smoking off other dudes pipes they wanna sit there and smoke ashes, i'm not into that so I turn them down. Plus I think i'm the only one around who flushes his weed. The mass produced shit around here is garbage and won't burn to white. I don't smoke that weed!

A few years ago you might have been. I've seen many a grower spend a lot of money on the right stuff to feed the plants and a lot of extra effort caring for the plants trying to insure they get that white ash even though the stuff that gets you high is long gone before the material it sits on is reduced to white ash.

Other than vaping, I only do one-hitters off a 12" bong with ice water. White ash into the ash catcher.

Usually smoke in paper these days, but when packing my own glass, its nice to pack 1/3 or 1/2 bowl and just pack more often. If smoking without guests, its whatever amount I can snap in one hit. Makes sure that every hit is all green. If smoking with people, I corner pretty aggressively so there's always lots of green left on top. no one wants to hit a charred out bowl.

I smoke it til it's gone. Always have and always will. It's more about the ritual/bonding that comes with cashing out a bowl with a few good friends.

For taste tests, I find good ol joints to be the best.
