hi everyone, I've just started growing in a closet with cfl's, i'm crazy into it and want to get a bigger grow going soon, I've got my hands on a good quality 8ft x 4ft grow tent and i'm gonna purchase two 600 hps, i'm obviously gonna use air cooled hoods with a good extractor but I live in northern Ireland and theres more cops in the f*&^**g sky than on the roads, basically i'm paranoid to death about those infra red cameras that hang from the bottom of those choppers, are air cooled hoods enough to save my front door coming in on top of me and if not what else can I do to prevent this, any info greatly appreciated guys. cheers and goodluck,, al

You can get tents with IR shielding built in to the roof of the tent. Otherwise, you can just but the IR shielding and fit it yourself. They claim to block 97% of the IR. I don't know how well they work in the real world though.

Infrared will only show the police, where and how much, heat is leaving your house. Two 600 watt lights isn't a huge amount of heat. If your operation isn't creating an unusual hot spot in a wall or roof, or an out of the ordinary plume of hot exhaust somewhere, then you should be OK. FLIR technology doesn't see through walls. It only shows the heat emitted from the wall to the outside. FLIR cannot see a hot grow tent through a wall. It can only show where and how much the outside wall has been heated. Your problem won't be radiant heat from the tent material, but the hot air from your grow heating up the room and then the exterior wall.

The supreme court ruled that infrared detectors are illegal searches unless done with a warrant. A friend has a house next to an airport where the sherriff lands his copter and it has been glowing with a lot more wattage then you are talking for over ten years.

The US Supreme Court has no say over what police do in N Ireland.

I would be surprised if police aren't running the device as they fly over neighborhoods to and from a warranted search. Once they have a location then it would be time to visit the site and keep an eye out for any evidence that could be used to obtain a warrant.

Pretty soon the helicopters will be sending out tiny drones to spy in the woods and into windows and places the copter is to big to get too.
If they see a good spot outdoors for MJ grows, but its too hidden from the copter, they will send off a tiny drone from the copter into the area to check it out, then back to the helicopter.

vent out of a dryer vent or chimney. Heat is supposed to come out of those. Not out of a bedroom window or roof vent. They can see the hot air cloud as it expands and cools outside of a vent with FLIR. So make sure it's something that would normally put out a lot of volume.

Run your lights during the day time, FLIR apparently doesn't work during the light hours as well.

Do what I used to do, run outside and stare at the fuckers when they fly over then run in the house, smoke a joint and get all wigged out and then, order china takeout.

Good luck.

I do that all the time here. And it's an international site, hosted in UK, with servers in Holland.

yeah they serve more to make you paranoid than anything man, i "know" from a pretty good source that only blatant factory grows are ever what they are even looking for anyway, they don't care much about your level of growin. they're looking for some factory glowing white at 3 in the morning lol..

Try to use the heat to heat the house or vent out a chimney ...

THANKS VOSTOK, I COULD DO THAT BUT MY CHIMNEY IS ABOUT 10 YARDS FROM WHERE I'M GOING TO PLACE THE TENT AND I'M LED TO BELIEVE THAT THE LONGER THE EXHAUST, THE LESS EFFECTIVE, MAYBE A BIGGER / STRONGER FAN ????

Why is it that people from the UK always associate drone use with America? Just kiddin'!
I was talking about all helicopters using remote controlled drones.
Its like a smaller boat off a big ship. Same thing.
A smaller helicopter drone off the main helicopter. Its coming soon.
But yes.....venting the heat is where you can play it safe. Cycle the cool air in the room through the stink filter and through the lights and out. This will cool off some of the heat associated with exhausting HID lamps.
