Oh yeah, forgot to mention the changes on the technical side. Got a 12-24V Pulse Width Modulator to dim the lights. I am using a laptop battery charger 19V 3.42Mah about 63W to drive the 5 (Yes I wired em all up already!) 10w Diode's. Quick story, night I got the P.W.M., wired her up (With the laptop brick, 63W mind you...), set her nice and bright (Like 75%) ta let the babies enjoy the extra light for the night. Woke up this morn to this...

Despite all the chaos that appears to have gone on, the Emitter still shines pretty damn bright. Noticeably different by eye (Kinda see it in the following pic, far left Diode.), probably because the lens cracked (Sink is intact, line in pic is a scratch). Funny thing the lens, after cooling and all, was kinda jelly like in texture compared to the others acrylic like hardness. I have 3 theories, probably a combination of em all, as to why it failed. A) They were guaranteed over-driven, but the room it's in is a cool 68-70 degrees A/C'ed at night (That night...). B) Emitter was the farthest from the intake fan, the main cooling source. And C) As you can see in the second pic above, the layer of thermal paste was too thick, allowing the adhesive combination used to lift the emitter enough to cause failure. Again it could be a faulty emitter, seeing as the drivers were complete garbage, I know the QC in most factory's is probably non existent... But aye, the bastards can churn out a $3 bulb that can handle burning out, being 26% over-driven, and STILL run nearly as bright as new... L.E.D.'s or Die man, stuff truly is the future. For under $30 I am pretty happy...

You need glue which itself is thermoconducting, like SKU 37514 on DX. Otherwise you are effectively insulating the diode.
When using thermo paste, the layer must be as thin as possible and there should be pressure applied at all times in order for the thermo paste to stay in good contact with both surfaces. If no pressure (via fixing the diode with screws), then thermoconducting adhesive is the way.

I understand the principle, but seeing as this is for shit's and giggle's, never thoroughly designed anything on the cab. I have seen another guy use just straight super-glue to fix diode's, and his panel lasted over 2 years. I really would heed your advice the first time, but another 30-day DX wait is not for me lol. Looking back at old pics, the burn victim was about 1mm lifted from the sink (Not sitting flush.). I remember it being in the back of my mind, but I said the hell with it. Ladies ain't complaining, and even if they do, daddy ain't renovating, Imma just cop a new home ! Next cab will be having a bigger Veg area, with a separate, partitioned flower side. Flower side gonna be near P.C. dimensions... Thanks for the input Yossy! :tiphat:

Forgot to add these to the above updates... All 5 diodes mounted ("Burned" emitter in the center.), and the P.W.M. (Volt regulator) mounted on the back near exhausts.

6/20 Update

6/20 Update

We are slowly creeping towards the case's goal of clone's!!! The surviving contender's are quite a beaut if I do say so myself. Lush, dark green Indica's, already showing their unique trait's and flavors. In comparison to the other seed-stock (A friend's crosses of bag-seed and Nirvana lineage's), the California gene pool (I am assuming, a majority of the island i am on's bud that i am acquiring is from there... Check This.) is quite robust and vigorous. I am hoping this doesn't follow my luck with lush Indie's, I had a beautiful Dutch White Widow, only to grow balls and fuck my hopes lol... I plan to top these babies soon, so I better order some Olivia's, anybody got an opinion, or should I just use plain water and the Rock-wool? Might let em lanky on up a bit, seeing as the O.G. is laggin behind on the nodes and got little stretch ta her...

Here's a new batch o' seedlin's I am cracking. 2 more 805 O.G.'s, and a coupla other AK/48xSuperSkunk S1's (Mix it up a bit).

Side view. Lanky arse nodes...

picture.php

Blueberry top. Lush, and has almost no chlorophyll/green smell, only a very light kind must. First leaves have a slight "curl", not tryna say anything, but hoping.

picture.php

Side view. Working on it's 6th node, with nice side branching.

picture.php

"RTSD" Top. Nice and lush as well. Smells very lightly of fresh scratched lime peel at the moment. Leaves have more pronounced serration tips, with them curling up towards the light a great deal.

picture.php

Here's the side. Working on 5 nodes, with the most pronounced side-branching of the lot.

picture.php

All in all, quite allot of progress for just short of 2 weeks. Not the largest growth, but on par with what I have experienced with C.F.L.'s, but without as much heat and clearance issues. Thx foe lookin'!

Oh yeah, said to hell with anymore electrical, when I can pay $20 more ($130USD total) shipped to my door. So one of these should be dropping down from space soon... :abduct:

After waiting the weekend, The "U.F.O." has arrived.

After tinkering around this morning (Foil tapes a bitch...) I arrived at this. A "Plastic Storage Bin" with 1 DC intake fan and, 1 DC exhaust fan. Light is cool to the touch and, since it is outside the main chamber, the warm air from the sink fan isn't a concern.

Light is 4-6" from canopy, and I am worried their gonna bleach before I can find a matching container for the top. I am guessing "Merry Gardener's" cab's light efficiency (based on reflectivity...) is half this cab's, being painted flat white. The light reflecting back off the walls is burning my eyes... I cannot wait to get this thing flowering!!!

Quick re-cap on plan's as well. Plan to veg until my Olivia's get's here. Then pull as many small cuts as possible while making them bonsai mum's. Soon as the cuts root, flip them to 12/12 in party cups Dr.Bud style. In the mean time I shall design a carbon filter around 1-2 120mm,73cfm quiet case fan's (2.3mm Static Pressure, anygood? Figure surface area shall make up for it.). Take it easy all :tiphat: !

Im Baaaack! Been a minute since I updated. Olivia's came in the other day, got a cut of each rootin up in some rockwool cubes. Also managed to make the other half of the bin a couple o' days ago. Top portions somewhere around 23"x17"x13" , bottoms same only around 9" tall (about 5 cubic feet altogether). Got lazy so the bottom half was not painted flat white (just foil tape)... On to thee pics...

Same light (and mounting style)...

New exhaust fan (it's got green L.E.D.'s, so I can peek inside during the night cycle when I flip 12/12)...

Clearly the "R T S D" is gonna be a good clone producer, and both the O.G. and Blueberry seem to be good S.O.G. candidates (very little branching), with their own distinction's (O.G.'s lanky...). Also managed to wire my P.C. case back up to bring the poor AK48xSuperSkunk S1's inside (they did nothing but turn pale since putting them outside...). I am now using only the 14w power supply via P.W.M. to drive the 5-10W China Diodes (since switching from the 19v 60W supply there is a lot less ambient heat, and less brightness, but still enough to Veg I assume.

China Case still in action...

Ak48xSuperSkunk S1's still hanging in there...

Dude i have ALOT of respect for your wiring skills, i have rigged a few ac adaptors, maybe soldered a thing or two in an old sega or nintendo but i would not have dreamed of ordering those LEDS from dx (literally was looking last night ) because as i'm looking at it..
I was like, "what do ya even hook this crap up to?!"
But now without having to look it up, i have been blessed with this wealth of info.
Thanks and subbed!
