hey all im looking for a good quality grow tent that 8x4. I know there are a lot of ones on ebay but I don't want to buy a piece of crap that the zippers will rip off in a months usage.

I was looking at agromax tent that htg sells.. but Ive came across on ebay.. one of there stores is near me so I figured I would go check if it has good reviews. my only concern is that I had read some post on line about off gassing.. so I figured I would ask on here if anybody knows about this brand?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/4-x-8-GROW-T...item256c69a5b0

also if anybody knows of any other good quality around this price range I would be interested..

I was also looking at this one http://www.ebay.com/itm/281046625537...84.m1423.l2649

and I found this guy that looks good and is on sale for 188 http://www.gothamhydroponics.com/gro...grow-tent.html

Hi there!

I use an agromax for my veg tent. It's pretty nice for the $$. They've come a long way with the design, as I had to trash a 4'x8' agromax recently for light leaks and shoddy tent material that was prone to ripping. It also couldn't handle a tear-down, re-set. The one I use now is has much better zippers and venting holes with drawstrings, an improvement to their old tents.

My first tent was the blue lighthouse in your last link. Bought it on ebay. The tent material itself is really sturdy. The plastic corners are not. They are prone to break and shatter, as I've since discovered.

Right now I use a secret jardin dr120, and while it does have some small light leak issues(that are totally fixable with some gorilla tape and a tapestry) the construction and design are top-notch. Bought it on ebay for around $220.00

P.S.

Don't go too cheap on your tent. Cheap tents are a nightmare. Nothing is more of a pain in the ass than switching tents mid-grow, especially if you're in a confined space.

just wondering how old was the 4x8 agromax tent that you trashed? was it a newer tent or older? in reference to them coming a long way with the design is that referring to after the tent your threw away or the tent you threw away?

the tent that you are talking about with better zippers and venting holes is that a agromax tent or the secret jardin?

I just went cheap on a 4x4 ebay tent, company is called aviditi... and I kind of wish I would have spent more and got the secret jardin dr120. The one I got is fine, it will work for my purposes, but the quality is totally subpar. I absolutely plan on eventually replacing it with a dr120.

I have a dr60 (2x2) tent, for my 400w, and it rocks. 99.9% light proof, better exhaust port options, stronger seams, stronger support beams, better zippers, etc. Go with a dark room, for sure.

Gotta second or third Secret Jardin here. If the 4x8's are as good as the 4x4 (DR120) you'll be a happy grower. Thick material, quality seams and zipper. I've been happy with it for over three years now.

I'd had the big agromax for about a year and a half. I had to take it down twice and it didn't survive long after the second takedown. Shoddy/cheap material and the vents and zippers were terrible. Threw it away a few months ago. It was probably about two years old.

BUT,

About 2 months ago I bought a little 2'x4'x5'tall agromax from htgsupply for veg purposes, and I must say that the quality is much, much better. Better zippers and ducting holes, and more features. Looks a lot like the secret jardin design, actually.

So I now run an agromax for veg and a secret jardin dr120 4x4 for flower. Both have been great so far. The Jardin is definitely nicer/hardier but the agromax isn't that far behind.

Sorry if my 1st post was a little confusing. I've used a lot of tents! :D

kool thanks for the info.. now do seeing the price for a 4x8 tent a secret jardin is deffently up there.. now I really cant afford to 600-700 for a tent .. would you say the new htg agromax tents are good for the job? or would you recommend to use a different brand for something that is in the around the price range of the agromax?

Honestly if you're gonna go that size the only tent I can recommend is the jardin. Here's one for $490 w/ free shipping on ebay.

I looked at the pics and specs of the agromax 4x8 and while it looks ok, it IS NOT the same design as the little agromax that I use in veg. Mine has drawstring vent ports. It looks like they went the cheap route on the 4x8 and didn't include them. This leads me to ask myself, "where else did they cut corners?"

For $259 the agromax sounds like a great deal. However, I would rather have a tent that's built to last than one that uses cheaper materials and could potentially cause problems. If you're running a 4x8 grow than getting the "baller" tent should pay for itself and reward you with years of use. Like I said in an earlier post, switching out tents really sucks and is something I would rather not do.

Having an entire crop get pollinated from a hermi caused from light leaks from a crappy tent also really sucks.

i have a 4'x4' SJ bought 2 yrs ago and a a few months back i got a 5'x5' from gothamhydropinics and the zipper quality are the same but the gothamhydro tent has thicker canvas, extra light hanger pole, extra corner connector, deeper spill pan, bigger exhaust ports w/velcro covers for when not in use.......the ports have double socks like my SJ.

gothanhydro tent was $220 to my house

both are equally light tight but the yellow seams and stitching glow where the black seams of the SJ do not.

peace

ok thanks for the input on the sj tents.. but those are out of my price rang with having to buy 2 ballast right now..

I used to have a hole grow room with rooms I built and all that but someone broke into my place stole my 12 plants((wich were my 1st set of plants I ever started to grow)) that were half way threw flowering that were all 5feet tall.. and stole my 4 ballast.. two solis tek matrix ballast and 2 solis tek 400w ballast and 1 of my hoods with the light bulb in it and about $400 worth of nutrients.

so im going to be growing at a buddies places but I just don't have the cash to spend 400 or more on that with having to get a couple more ballast cause money is really tight now cause when I built my grown room I put in about 5k into remodling my basement and building a veg and flower room.

.. so would anybody know a next best grow tent to go with that is no more then 300-350 range.. or less would love to find something around 250 range if possible that is a good quality.
