a little something extra about dry ice hash-
when i use my 120u bag i only shake it for about 1-2 min...
when you shake to long you flash freeze the green material causing it to shatter into tric sized bits and into your dry ice hash-
so shake for 60 seconds- give it a good look- then shake for 15 second intervals- soon as you start seeing a greener darker material stop!

compression-

they sell tube based compressors online that even have stamps in them etc- perfect for dry ice-

if you have a vacuum sealer(works best imho)
you can press the dry ice into a block, seal it then set it in about 150 degree water for a few minutes to get a solid perfect block of hash-

it will look more like a block of bubble and have more of the same texture-

you can also make highly potent oil from the dry ice keef-
using alcohol like ever clear-
basically you distill it-
makes nice phoenix tears oil-

on BHO- im still new to the dab scene myself-
so im learning as i go but have some runs under my belt already so all this info that got kickstarted and contributions by gray wolf are welcomed and appreciated!

its to bad.. some1 should start a company that u send ur trim into or they come and pick it up.. and they make ur BHO or hash.. and make a contract to take a certain % for doing the work. and instead of a bunch of growers trying to make a good concentrate we could have a dude that's the concentrate guru..

there are now one or two in Colorado that use co2 to make wax etc-
you can take em your product and they make wax, comb with pure co2 extraction machines for dispensaries-

with oil you are speaking about, by distill do you just mean burn off the everclear with a double boiler?

For extracting kif with butane, you might consider the thermos method. Kif doesn't immediately dissolve in the butane, so more residence time is needed for complete extraction, than you would typically get in a single pass column.

A column will also clog easily with kif, so if you are using one, you might try mixing it with herb or inert material to add porosity, and keep the column short. You can use wadded coffee filters as fillers for the empty space.

If you are running a Terpenator, try a 6" column.

PS: Since most of the water solubles and chlorophyll has already been removed by the time you have kif, you can also use long soaks in a polar solvent like ethanol to dissolve the kif, without danger of unwanted pickup.

tell a newb about the thermos method. just letting it soak in a thermos, then filter?

It's a great process. I'm a total newb to concentrates, so I wanted something with as few variables as possible and the thermos method is perfect. I do two extractions,a 30 minute soak, then do a 90-120 minute soak of the same material. Very different qualities to the two products but both clean and delicious.

BUUUUT now that we are talking about dry ice it gets my mind working in different ways..... the guy i bought the bags from is half owner of the kanga can. and when i took a look at it, it lookes like an aluminum can with an insulated bubble bag around it...... so it got me wondering...... with a 5 gal bucket ( maybe a lil smaller if i can find it ) cant i just throw the trim and dry ice in there, pull a few bags of various grades over it and do the whole shake thing for a min or 2 and carefully pull the bags and harvest the various grades of keef? so instead of just ONE size of dry ice hash ill have several grades?
