Atlanta-based rapper 2 Chainz, also known as Tauheed Epps and formerly as Tity Boi, was reportedly robbed at gunpoint in broad daylight in front of a San Francisco medical marijuana dispensary on Sunday, police said early Monday, although later in the day, 2 Chains denied the incident on Twitter.
The rapper and his entourage of five people were reportedly walking along the 800 block of Howard Street about 4:36 p.m. when they were approached by three Hispanic men, police Sgt. Dennis Toomer said.
One of the Hispanic men had a handgun and fired a shot, Toomer said. 2 Chainz' wallet, which contained his cash and credit cards, was reportedly taken from him by the suspects.
On Monday afternoon, 2 Chainz denied on Twitter that he was robbed. He tweeted, under his former name Tity Boi, "Rule #1 if a rapper gets robbed people usually post items that has been taken. Rings, chains, watch , money etc. 2 answer that question," and "Rule#2 if a rapper gets shot he usually go to hospital or dies," before complimenting San Francisco's marijuana supply with "Rule# 3 we definitely got geeked up in San Fran , best smoke in the world. 2 blessed 2 stress." The incident allegedly occurred outside the Green Door medical marijuana dispensary on Howard Street.
The shooter was described by police as a Hispanic man, 20 to 30 years of age, with short cropped hair, wearing a black sweatshirt and blue jeans, Toomer said. The crooks fled in what police believe was a gray-colored sedan. The investigation is ongoing.
No one was struck by gunfire during the robbery, Toomer said. 2 Chainz and his entourage were uncooperative with police, however, saying that they would like to handle the problem themselves, according to TMZ.
Police also told TMZ that when the incident went down, 2 Chainz and his entourage "all ran away from the incident like cockroaches running from a flashlight."
According to the website Consequence of Sound, 2 Chainz was in town to play KMEL Summer Jam, where he "reportedly killed" it.
