Too late to top?

I just flipped over to 12/12 a couple days ago and tossed out all the males and moved the ladies into larger pots. They had a couple months veg time from seed and are about 18" tall, I want to get them into scrog for the flowering period but their height is making it a little awkward. My question is; is the first week of flowering too late in the cycle to top the plant? It'd sure be nice to keep it shorter an bushier to fill the scrog in better. Any help would be appreciated, thanks

You should really train your plants to the screen before you flip. The screen should be about 80 percent full before flipping. You might be able to bend the plants over to help fill the screen but I wouldn't top them after the flip

It is stressful for your plants. However, I have topped as late as. 3.weeks into flower due to space restrictions, with no noticeable I'll effects. If you are doing a scrog you could also just weave the top into the screen.

One thing I noticed in your post though is that you said you just transplanted them. I always wait for the roots to adjust to the container before flipping to 12/12. This usually takes a week or two. If it were me, I would go back to veg lighting cycle until you can see roots coming out the bottom of the pots and then go back to flower. You will get a much better yield. Good luck!

Thanks for the input guys, I really wish I had had the chance to train them to the screen before the flip but the seeds were straight run and I didn't want to have an entire screen filled up with male plants.

FJ- You haven't had any issues with putting plants back into veg lighting after a few days of 12/12?
