http://www.abc.net.au/news/2013-05-15/parliamentary-support-for-medical-marijuana-in-nsw/4691108

However, Acting Health Minister Kevin Humphries has indicated it is the issue of supply that is a stumbling block.

He says a medical marijuana trial announced by Labor premier Bob Carr in 2003 fell over because those concerns could not be addressed.

Mr Humphries says the Government will consider the recommendations, but would not agree to anything that will weaken the ability of police to crack down on drugs.

Cos at the end of the day, it's all about power and control and nothing to do with using science or recommendations to guide your decision making principles.

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/br...nnabis-says-eros/story-fni0xqi4-1226660564781

NSW opposition health spokesman Andrew McDonald supports the proposed ban saying it's the government's responsibility to make sure more people aren't harmed by the unregulated products.

"These drugs will kill young people if they take them," Dr McDonald told reporters on Saturday.

He said the campaign by Eros was a waste of money as the drugs were dangerous and should be outlawed.

Again, where's the science? The TGA hasn't even had the time to examine these substances. Just a knee jerk action to an instance where gravity appeared to be the actual cause of death, not a drug.

And no media outlets bring up the argument that these supposed dangerous alternatives exist because the fucking government banned the drugs in the first place. No-ones willing to challenge the idea that if you legalise cannabis you remove the need for the alternatives. No-ones sitting around and asking themselves why are people looking for dangerous alternatives, is there a better option?

Honest to god, I'm sick of this country. Born and raised here, but every year I grow more and more despondent with this place. I don't understand how Australia21 can launch their campaign in an election year and whilst in an 8 month election campaign have drugs be non-existent on the political radar.

I don't understand how gay marriage can have greater significance than reforming drug laws with regards to cannabis!! What the fuck are the greens doing!! How much public money would be saved from drug reform? sack the copper drug squads, the dogs, kill the NCPIC and all the other bullshit, start regulating and making money from sales (tax.). Some 50,000 cannabis arrests each year, those are people who are now limited in the career opportunities, which will hurt the governments over time through lower income tax revenue. But nope, it's not about creating a system that actually works and saves tax dollars, having homosexuals declare their love for each other in a church (who just so happen to hate them) is more important.

I'm neither here nor there with regards to gay rights, all I'm saying is that even the political parties way out on the left have set their priorities such that weed is no where near their agenda.

This place is getting more and more backwards. They put 'If you don't like it, leave it' stickers on utes. One day I'm aspiring to take that advice and go somewhere more tolerant.

Sorry for the rant, I just really need to vent

Yep gotta agree with you mwz,
politicians are so out of touch,

i didnt think the med thing had much chance with the government they way they are these days ,
John Howard had a lot to do with things going backwards,
and its not moved forward much since ..

they sure dont listen to public opinion ,
the amount of users and people that have used cannabis could make or break a government ,
problem is youll find half of them at least wont vote ...

cant win yet it seems ...

^^ Here here! You are not alone....By all means mate, rant away! More of us should probably follow suit!

The current state of government and politics in general within Australia at the moment usually leaves me feeling a little sick at times....well, most of the time actually!
The lack of science, logic, common sense or even listening to or giving consideration to popular opinion - as in what the people of Australia actually think or want.....Ha ha ha! You have to be joking!
The things (lets call them 'issues') that our pollies get on their high horses about and use to rally the long suffering masses to their favour I more often than not tend to find them to be either nothing more than banal, self serving, ultimately pointless or just plain downright ignorant...sometimes all of the above!

It really is just generally quite disgusting and at the same time heart breaking to see so many good (if easily led) people just jumping on the bandwagon of these either imagined or at best trivial causes with a complete lack of consideration or regard to the actual effects or eventual outcomes.

Now ya got me ranting! Id better strap one up and chill out a bit!

I have friends who tell me that Finland is nice and sensible....bit cold, But I think I would be quite happy to trade climate for even just a little bit of common sense these days!
One day I may well have to just pack up and go find out for myself.

YEp100% agree boys n gals :(

But i think its also got alot to do with someone owning up as ya might call it......which government do you think will turn around after how every many bloody years it has been and says ok...we will legalize it for medicinal use as it has many many great properties to it......NONE unfortunalty because this will be admiting publicly that for all this time they were wrong...........

And no one in the government IMO will ever or want to take that leap sadly :(

yes our laws do leave a lot to be desired and yes i would dearly love to live in a tolerant and educated environment but it ain't gonna happen any time soon unfortunately. to avoid any real serious outcome from me growing i only put a single plant out these days, just to enough to keep my migraines at bay...but this isn't often enough for others...

laws change when public attitudes change but there is so much misinformation out there that the general public rarely have the facts to make informed decisions. it also takes people to step up mullaway style to bring real education to the masses something that not enough of us can do or are willing to do...

This makes me so angry...... so...... i just wanna drop my elbow in the face of the law..... I have a father that has been diagnosed with cancer... can barely do the usual things he used to do when i was a kid.. these include... gardening, building and construction, fixing anything that needs to be fixed... the list goes on and on.... and at the end of the day I just want to grab everyone against it and shake the DUMB out of them....

:biggrin:I always thought john howard hated his own people, how could ya trust anybody that bowled like him, the so called war rages on.

Hmmm. I used to say, give it time...science and logic will prevail. But it just seems to be getting worse and worse. We're falling further behind the US every single day. I still have hope though, I still think its only a matter of time. Just hoping its a short amount of time. But its not looking good...

i am always mystified how they (the government) can make mother nature illegal in the first place...i mean it's a fucking plant for Christs sake...if they didn't make a big fuss over it then i doubt it would have ever been an issue...what i do on my own land, to my own body is NONE of anyone's fucking business but mine...
