Best price I can get to the UK is £439 each for the 1200s and then they will mark the item value lower to pay less import duty?? I still think that £1350 is a bit excessive for just 3 LED lights lol but maybe convinced in time while I save up.

As regards duty I've bought two of these mars 2 900w lights from china wont say the name but only one place sells them on ebay. Both arrived in three days by fedex first one there was no duty second one there was. The duty plus handling charge on the second light was £29 as the seller put the item value down as only £80.
Personally I wouln'd buy an led light less than 600W unless just for vegging. I prefer the 900W ones close to the tops you can touch the glass on them. The new ones are now square and have excellent coverage and penetration. If you go for the 1200 even better good thing about the lights is they have exactly the correct spectrum the plants need for growing some blue but mostly red spectrum. I find they grow healthier in veg and flower.
There even supposedly a 3 year warranty on all parts which are surprisingly easy to change once you look into it. Will post some pics up off current grow and some different led lights.

after doing more research i shouldnt be really comparing lumens as alot of the lumens from hps is unavailable to the plant

i should be looking at power consumption so 3 of the 1200w mars2 units are roughly the same as 2000w of hps

looking forward to the pics dirk

I find this statement interesting. You don't get any burn or bleaching? With the 3w'ers you have to keep the light like 16-24" higher to avoid this.

Do you (or anyone else with these lights) have access to a KILL-A-WATT to check the actual power draw? I just can't imagine how you could get such a powerful light so close to the plant and not have " a situation."

Back in the day, on another forum, when LEDS were the NKOTB, some guys realized that the light was actually more powerful if the glass was removed. Apparently, the glass gets dirty or cloudy and limits the amount of light output. I wonder if that still applies today.

Anyways, thank all of you guys for the great info exchange!

Lol so did I want to see this first, but as I am an inpatient barsteward then they got the better of me. Oh well sometimes you need to take risks in life to acheive results, and I like the thought of reduced power costs, no ballasts needed and lower temps. If this works by next year we will be millionaires Rodders :tiphat:

No mate dont have a meter.

Hope so mate :)
The lights are only 460 x 460mm so not that big as my space is long rather than wide and I am not concerned to much about penertration as running a perpetual 3 light SOG with 9 plants per light.

Yep I chose the 1200w version of the mars 2 and I can only see the difference being 300 watts on the 900 per light which is 900 watts over all better? If a gpw is possible then I would be happy with the extra wattage. We will soon see the results as I will run my first diary on here using them. :tiphat::ying:

do these lights not hurt your eyes? also will you have to get use to looking at the plants looking kinda purple in colour? lot of love in this thread! my big venture into led ended after 2 days when i knocked the light and it never came back on . . . ever! even after i tried to bypass the burnt out led line.i did learn not to buy second hand shit from china though ! also think they run at 66% plus the cooling fans ?
