New generation of LED's. 5W chipsets.

D

DirkDiggla

The new Led's are now using 5w chipsets. Just bought a mars 2 900w led light. They really are the business. They also do a 1200w version. Alot of people were put of LED's in the old days when the technology was new. Claims were made about low wattage leds ie 180w being equal to a 600w hid which just wasnt true. But the technology has moved on a long way since then. The first led's were only 1w then they upped it to 3w and now there up to 5w. The latest lights i.e 900w and 1200w are definitely a lot better than hids. I'm getting bigger yields of healthier higher quality bud. Plus virtually no heat perfect over the hotter summer months. There a little expensive the new 5w chip 900w mars 2 is £400. But the extra yield would pay that back plus more in one grow. Cant emphasise enough they are the way of the future.

Can't wait to see these in action. My mate has been using a 300w LED for veg and it's been quite a revelation.

Keep up the march of progress Dirk!

I'm gonna bump this for DD. He says that the 5w units are expensive but judging by the wattage/prices that he's quoted, it seems a LOT cheaper than many others that aren't as strong.
Also, I did check his thread with the CJ under LED. Was that grown under this Mars light? I'd love to hear more info about it and hear more of your thoughts. Thanks for sharing and looking forward to any other insight you provide!

wouldnt mind some pics too esp if they help with temps you could take down the hps in the summer and run leds

i would want to replace 1k hps for 1200w led though, winter yields in summer would be great

whats the quality of the buds like do they rival hps grown herb?

peace

Nice to see more people running led's,am more than happy with mine so far.Am running 300w in a meter tent(between 4 seperate fixtures).Newer 1's don't have any problems with light penetration that the old ones had.

Nice, I can't imagine a 1200W LED light! I use little LED bulbs with plant specific wavelengths in red and blue (2W and 3W emitters). Wish I had 5W emitters!

ive only seen them on ebay too

i would run 3 1200w instead of the 2 1k bulbs as the current draw per unit is 720w for 1200w of light the amount of electric would be allmost the same

3 1200w leds vs 2 1000hps

led 227k lumens little heat vs hps 260k lumens lots of heat

jaded what units are you using ? so you think the penetration is on par with hps then is that comparing to a 600w hps?

Anyone have any idea on the customs fees, import taxes, etc on these fixtures to the US?

VAT (value added tax ) is added for the UK
Apparantly Pot Luck.!?
E.G DD Bought a/the LEDs from Hong Kong ?,and Paid Nothing Extra
I bought something Recently from Japan/Hongkong? And I had to Pay an Extra £37.??
Item was £400

..and then. I bought something from Poland that Cost £260 and paid Nothing Extra. !

So is Pot luck true Or is it Country Specific !?
Free in the EU ?

Both, luck and country specific. Within Europe you aren't paying tax, but if it's from HK/Japan you might have to.

For the price of what I want, I wouldn't mind paying an extra $60-75 but damn that if I gotta pay over $100. Guess I'll let my fingers do some googling and see what I can come up with.
