Hey man! I'm with lyryc. If you have a smartphone, I really recommend getting one of the microscope attachments. I have an iPhone, and bought a doodad off eBay which is a slip-on case into which screws a microscope attachment over the iPhone camera. It does 60x, and is good for being able to take close up shots of things. It was cheap - like $30 or so, from memory. Going by trich color is the best way to know when to pull them I think. A jeweller's loupe can be bought pretty cheap also.

Thanks Man. Got a 60x scope now. Like $15 cos I lack haggling skills and the lady knew I needed it!

Want to get a macro attachment for my camera. It is on my list of things to do. Talking of which....

Gotta get ready for harvest. Gave the PS her final flush today. Will let her dry out for a couple of days then chop, dry and trim. Might pre trim a little before hanging to dry.I like to do a rough trim before the dry just to make the job a little less overbearing afterwards. :)

The other plants are still being fed and still putting on weight allbeit not as hungrily. I figure the OG kush might have had it's final feed today before it begins flush but I'm just going to watch it a little longer.

Getting a little 'drying corner' going in a well ventilated but badly lit area of my small grow room. Will be low light and RH plus temps can be kept within acceptable limits. Since both my boxes are in use it happens to be the next best option.

Will chop just b4 lights on Sat or Sun, rough trim and hang branch by branch, hooking them over a clothes drier in the 'drying corner'

The last 2 pics are PS buds. The first, OG Kush. Yield is going to be shite all round it seems but just hoping for some decent bud at this stage.

The orange hairs are coming out on all 3 plants now. Gives them a lovely amber tinge in the 2700k cfl light. Getting worried about chopping the PS as it is showing absolutely no N def whatsoever. It is still as green as ever despite the tric's telling me it is perfect to chop it is nagging me I am chopping too early.

We will see...

So, after checking tric's in several spots across the PS I decided to run it for another 1-2 weeks.
Also researched how long my plant had ben in flower vs other PS grows and what is recommended. It all pointed to keeping the plant going for another couple weeks. In fact I'm going to run all 3 plants as long as possible then chop at the same time and use the vacant tent as a safe environment for drying. Cool and dark in there. The only worry is the RH being too high if I leave the extraction fan off and too low if I keep it on.

If there is time I will test a timing method. Like one hour one then one hour off for the extraction fan. Hope that might keep RH acceptable and airflow constant enough for the drying process to take place without the possibility of mold.

You see circumstances may dictate leaving the buds while they dry. The process must be smooth and even and take a minimum of 5 days. Six or longer would be better.
Going to research ideal RH and temps in the drying environment for a nice slow even dry over the next couple of weeks. In the meantime I have gone back to feeding daily all 5 plants small amounts in the 2.0-2.2 EC range PH 5.7-5.9 going in.
Not sure what the effect will be of a full flush then back to feed on the PS but we will see. The way I see it I'm feeding for another 10-15 days then flushing for a week.

Will post up pics in the next few days as things develop.

You won't regret that extra time, I don't think. Good on you. You could always progressively harvest too if you are getting antsy and take notes on the smoke and use that data for next time.

Hi Man - good suggestions and I agree I think I'm doing the right thing. Tric's were 50/50 clear/cloudy. Still has a bit left in it.

OG Kush day

OG Kush day

So was in the cab today checking tric's from 3 different places from each plant.
The Pineapple Skunk showed almost perfect tric's all locations. Just a couple more days then flush again. She does appear to be fattening up a little still.
This time going to do a shorter flush cycle as I can just put the shower head into the pot and leave it on so thoroghly flushing, especially in coco should be quick. Double quick since I already flushed 3x last week!
Got a big surprise when checking OG Kush - tric's were mostly cloudy with a few less cloudy and the odd amber or white one too.
The fan leaves however were a concern. They appeared overly dark and bending in and down instead of up or straight. As a safety precaution I removed them all as close to the stem as possible. Ended up giving her a rough trim as most leaves like this looked like they might go bad soon.
Worryingly the Kandy Kush is beginning to exhibit the same hooked over eagles claw type deal on some of the bigger leaves. May have to give that plant a real trimming too soon although she prolly needs another week at least. KK trim coming out 50% clear and 50% cloudy tric's seem to bear that out.
The PS looks very happy and healthy after its flush week. Maybe I should flush the KK as well. After all the OG Kush runoff was 7.2 EC before I flushed. Could just be a build up from letting them sit in their own runoff. Perhaps with this system regular flushing is required to stop build ups in EC.
So, going to flush the KK tomorrow thoroughly and give it a light trim of the most suspect looking leaves. It is a bit 'leafy' still anyway.
The up side of all this sudden trimming is my HQ bubble hash bag will expand a lot and I have high hopes that the bubble from this batch will be pretty good.

Pics today are OG Kush posing in front of my humble DS60 tent. Just a great intro into tent growing but I'm gonna need a bigger boat! I realize now there are real limits to growing in such a small space.
Anyone renting out Spanish farms these days? :prettyplease:

KK trim

KK trim

So I had the KK out of the cab for her final trim before chop. There were a lot of leaves beginning to bend in and down which I removed.
The plant now looks very different. Gave a flush too and will wait a few days for her to dry out before final chop.
The plan for today is to give the PS a flush. May get a light trim as well.
Today I chopped the OG Kush and it is now drying. The pic below shows the temp and RH in the drying area which is a clothes stand wedged against the wall and something else with a couple of pieces of light cardboard on top and a towel covering the side.
The idea is to make it a low light area with good airflow and reasonable temp/RH range.
Am hanging the whole plant too.

Some before and after pics on te Kandy Kush as well as a close up on one of the buds. Going to give the KK a little longer to dry as the coco from the OG Kush pot was still very damp when I inspected the rootball earlier.

and finally...

and finally...

So, after a false start my gf trimmed the pineapple skunk. She did a great job and very fast. I look forward to next harvest a little more now.

The 2 remaining plants have now been flushed and are drying awaiting final chop.

The plants are taking on a more bud like appearance as I finished the rough trim on the KK. Had to do the trim a little early to guard against rot. Right thing to do I think and by stretching dry out a little I think I give the buds a little chance to mature.

Small yield I think as predicted early on in the grow. Nothing to be done but carry on sometimes. Have learned a lot more from this one and have a plan and direction for the next time too.

I might go quiet for a while soon. Once things are done here. Have a new plan to execute but will be running silent from now on. There will still be activity but in a new location.

So the curing process begins soon. Checked some smaller buds off the bottom of the OG in a jar with hydrometer. RH swiftly rose to 70% even with a small number of small buds in a big jar.
So onto a screen and back into the drying area for another 24 hours.

RH of drying area remains around 50% plus or minus a few points and the temp is 22-28 degree range from day to night. The area is nice and dim whilst retaining good airflow.

Hoping that the next time I post up on this thread I'll have some bud porn in a jar to show off.

Peace.

Chop!

Chop!

So the OG Kush is in the jar. Curing at 58-64% RH range. Currently 60%. I am encouraged actually as the OG was my 'worst' plant in that she was so stressed for so long as a seedling/veg that I was afraid to stress her further by topping/fim/etc. Dry yield on her will be north of 20g which means most likely I'll exceed my personal target yield wise for this grow.

The final 2 plants are now flushed, trimmed and chopped. I chopped the entire plants and hung them upside down in my (now) dark tent.

The KK is a significantly bigger yielder than anything else in my cabinet. I can see why folks like to grow it now.

Pics tell the story best - pic 1 the drying set up with the wire being the RH/Temp gauge extension. The wire then comes out of the tent so I can monitor RH/temps from outside.
pic 2 - temp and RH inside the tent.

Good luck keeping the humidity down at 49%, hee hee. How long you keep them hanging, and then how will you cure them? Great job and enjoy your smoke.

The RH in my tent fluctuates but funnily enough within a fairly even 40-60% range.
In the daytime I run my mister in the room outside to increase ambient RH as sometime it can drop as low as 30% without some assistance. At night the RH goes up to 60% on its own so need for the mister. Right now the OG is in the jar in first stages of curing.

Started it a bit early so goes over 70% RH in jar if left for a while. Took the buds out and into the net this morning for a few hours. Hopefully get the buds down a little bit more they need.

Once the OG has stabilized it is on to the PS and finally KK

Well done, Reg. A smooth sea never made a skilled sailor, so the odd bump is just a step closer to excellence. But don't undervalue what you've achieved. Some lovely times ahead with some good looking smoke, I reckon!

Thanks Man. Appreciate the positivity. The pic shows all the bud is now at various stages of curing in jars.

The OG Kush yield was only 22g but it is very potent, heady, little ride through euphoria to hunger and eventually sleep. It is already beginning to smell better as it is now in the cure zone. I check it daily.

The KK was the best yield of the three at 44g. Just been testing a little and it is a creepy, happy stone so far. Functional but pretty intense.

The PS is the one I've not properly tested yet but made a mix of the 3 last night and felt the warm stone of the PS in there and it felt promising. Have 25g of that to test.

So I didn't break the 100g barrier in this tent and the buds don't look the best but first indications are they will be potent and hopefully cure well.

There will be smoke reports down the line hopefully as well as bud porn. Cannot be bothered right now. Maybe in 6 weeks or so when they have cured to my satisfaction.

Nice.. very well done.
Meh, so you didn't break the 100g barrier and the buds won't make the cover of High Times Magazine, at least (I hope) you had fun, learned along the way, and in a bit will be enjoying the kindness of your labor.
Happy farming...

so the weed it curing and I got to taking a pic of a couple of OG Kush nuggets.
Good weed. Getting smoother with the cure although curiously not stronger yet.

Well done sir! Glad the scope helped. Don't let one grow bring ya down :) Whats the plans for the next spot and starting from clone or seed?

Thanks LyryC. The results were patchy but I was prepared for disappointment with this grow. In the end it came out even for the stress the seedlings got.
Annoyingly enough the smoke on the OG Kush is developing into something pretty special. I see why the strain is popular. So little of it means I have to be use it only on special occasions.

Next time will be seed again. 5x5x6 tent with 600w- 1000w HID and 6-9 plants. C99 from female seeds and Strawberry Sour Diesel from Devils Harvest are looking like the faves right now. Might throw a couple of random ones in there too like a heavy indica like Great White Shark or White Rhino to balance out the high from the C99

Good work, Reg! Mate, you're being sensible and serious about it, so things are just going to get better and better. Enjoy the smoke. Beats the shite out of what you can get on the streets these days, hey? You mentioned going silent on the next run. Look, no need really if you're smart. Use a VPN so your Internet footprint is masked (I use Private Internet Access) and an image site like Imgur that strips all the metadata out of the pics. Growing for personal use and not dealing, even if illegal like here, combined with those measures should make you of very low interest to anyone. Being (relatively) secure on the Internet is much easier than being secure in the physical location you are growing in. That's a long winded way of saying I hope you don't vanish from the site altogether.
