Happens on the way in at agricultural stops too, maybe i'm paranoid but it seems like a revenue motivated act, trying to keep people buying the expensive CA club cannabis on tourist licenses, as well as giving the state more citations to collect on.

That makes more sense to have agriculture stops, but to fly you already have to go through security at least once....driving is the opposite. I've never driven into California and had to go through one of those stops, so I have little knowledge on those.

IDK, I don't really believe in coincidences in life...so 2 people I know getting searched makes me hella sketched out, but i'm not doing anything that would warrant any level of attention, shit neither of them were explicitely coming to see me or anything...but I just flew the other day and I fly semi-occasionally for work and family-related matters, and i've never ever ever ever had any sort of issue, and I smoke a fuck ton more than my friends do so if anyone should be getting hits from dogs, it's me.

Dogs are trained to hit on a variety of substances- drugs, explosives, whatever, and they only give one indication, regardless of what it is that they smell. They can smell very small residuals of most anything, and will hit on a bag that held an oz a week ago the same as they'll hit on one holding a bale or a kilo of explosives.

What it means is that the WoT is really about the WoD more than anything else. It's an excuse to search for materials unrelated to the WoT.

Anybody actually surprised?

Well I don't see why you would be so paranoid if they were just flying with nothing, pretty standard airport protocol to have your bag checked.

Maybe your friends gave off some sketchy vibes and they felt complied to search a little more.

back before 9/11 i used to listen to the dea with a scanner and they were always talking about giving skycaps and ticket sellers cash rewards for turning in sketchy passengers that they (dea) got a hit on
paying cash for your ticket or traveling without luggage will surely get you the wrong type of attention...

Yeah, not suprised. I figured as much, just wanted someone who sounded like they knew what they were talking about to say something lol

Duh, get your bag checked once. At security. Not twice, the second time being outside in plain sight...I don't want people seeing what kind of underwear I wear, not very polite.

My friend is a pretty standard individual, doesn't stick out...they knew his name before approaching him, cause they found his bag out back and it smelt like something. There's a lil more to it

They were going after cash coming back in. They get a mil+ every week coming back
to Nor Cal through Sac.

Damn...i'd be doing the same if I were them then lol

this
the only good news is that they missed a few bundles while bothering the wrong guy

Yeah, my friend's moving here, he had a few grand on him, but he said they kept asking him about weapons more than anything. Not sure if that was their honest inquiry or deflection.

actually, they dont use the same dogs for bombs and shit as they do drugs. it would "dilute" their pallet too much. its pretty much drugs or bombs.
they were most likely using drugs dogs, and good ones, that picked up on the smell in clothing or baggage. once the dog hits that, then they can confront. i would imagine if it happened to 2 acquaintances you know, it has happened to thousands more.

Police dogs will alert to a lot of shit, but the craziest is human blood. The use of drug canines is obtrusive and unconstitutional.

Don't even get me started.

Well they do. Happened to me.

It was the only thing that was foreign to the rental car. No contraband was ever near the car.

^huh?

It was a rental car. Who's to say what scents were in it.

Dogs can easily be trained to hit on ques from their handlers. For this reason alone they should not be used for such type of searches. I think the local nitwits around here just teach their K-9s to pull on the leash, sit, and bark.

they are looking for cash coming back into CA, because they know people are going out of town with herbs and coming back with $$..

i know 2 people that have been stopped at CA airports by DEA looking for cash in the past few years, one at LAX and the other at SFO.....pretty shitty to be profiled like that. they might have had some marijuana residue on their checked luggage or something like that....just rollin up a joint and the weed particles got on their bags and BOOM....

both of my friends were clean and had no $$ on them so they are straight...but still pretty scary for them to go through.
