Yep, same here.

And crikey, its HOT today. 85 degrees at 4:30 pm in "BridgeTown" (aka, Portland), and its supposed to go higher before evening.

I would bet my farm that those Iranian/Ghost OG BX1s and especially the IR/OG outcrosses would yield hella poundage in those big beds of yours. Food for thought, anyway -- maybe next year.

I've pulled up a comfy chair to keep tabs on your garden so as not to miss the bud and plant PORN.

Super good work you're doing. Your Boost variety sounds wonderful, and of course Blue Magoo is always THE winner. I just lost my Blue Magoo mom in February -- still crying over it.

Some stellar cannabis genetics have come out of Oregon, for sure.

Thanks for coming out fellow Oregonian!! Yes, I have grown many a strain and I tend to lean towards those who have genetics from within oregon for my outdoors. The Blue Magoo Being a DJ Blueberry x Williams wonder BX2 is just a wonderful plant to grow down here, shes hearty, resists mold and pests and finishes "before the deer hunters oil their guns", an old man friend of mine used to say. I know noting of this Ghose OG you speek of, but I do love OG :)

Every time I look in this thread I feel like that kid from a viral video years ago, that was bombed out of his mind on meds in the backseat coming from the dentist....
"Is this real life?"
The trees that are about to grace this thread are the stuff I dream about.
Good Luck & Karma to your garden for 2013.

Classic, thanks dude! I love this spot, ive grown other places but this one is home. Watching the Boost grow will really blow your mind. I honestly didn't know they made weed that could grow like that outside, its as frosty as any weed ive ever grown indoors.

I love when my plants are so happy that they do the "taco leaf" usually happens in the morning through mid day, where they tilt themselves up and in to gather as much sunlight as possible.

Yard Update

Yard Update

So I think Boobs said it over in his thread and the same is true on my farm. The plants have grown since I took these pictures a few days ago, when its hot like this I can notice significant growth every 24-24 hours with enough water. So its almost hard to post these because from where I am sitting I can see they are already bigger than what I'm showing you guys. The Blue Magoo are thriving and throwing up the branches. Boost are just now getting their legs in the new beds and have started to shoot upwards the last day or so, even without topping or training the Boost makes itself into a fabulous bush, I almost just add support and let them do their thing.

Light Dep

Light Dep

SO ive been way off schedule and had some shit go down with my Dep project but things are rolling now. Had some residual broad mites that I needed to kill as well as three of my main plants started to flower hard and had to be removed from the greenhouse, they were also the worst with the BM damage. Then the tarp I ordered never came, then it did and it had pin holes....so I made my own with two home depot 8 mil 20x30 tarps and it seems to be doing the trick. When the BM got controlled the other 5 plants in the greenhouse shot up and started showing violent vertical growth so its almost a good thing in retrospect. Would have been way over crowded.

Looks really good....south a ways in Norcal we had a 106 degree day followed by clouds and some rain today. Makes me glad I haven't transplanted into smarties yet. I lucked into one Alien OG last year and it was the stinkiest greasiest out of them all. Best of luck

Looking real nice up that way. This weather has been GREAT. :)

Yes sir :) and now its raining and thunder and lightening lol when it rains it pours literally. But, truthfully the ground needs it and our well is already getting a little dry, so a summer storm would be welcome here.

We have had a dry spring here, I think -5 inches from last year is what I read. I put mine in right before the heat moved in and watered every day. I think most doubled in size during that time.

This will be my first run with the alien OG. My friend covets this pheno and its smoke it some of the most frosty ive ever come across. We will see if she performs outside!

I make cages out of bamboo and netting and always give each plant a 6-7 foot heavy duty metal or bamboo stake on the main stem. That being said my girls like the rain actually, washes all the dust, crap and pollen off their leaves and gives the soil a nice natural water. But where I am, we get a few summer storms per year and not the steady summer time storm like in the northern part of the state. I would go on ebay and get a cheep greenhouse like the one I am doing light dep in for the fall, mine was $89 bucks and they have bigger ones than that for not that much more $$. Throw a dehumidifier and your good to go.

Hey Samson,

I've been a long time lurker and was drawn to this site by the Tom Hill "growing large plants outdoors thread" and I've gotta say I'm enjoying this one too.

Your girls look to be around 3' already. Based on this years progress, how tall/wide would you estimate them getting? I'm looking at a bunch of old DJ Blueberry clones that are all around 2'/2', planted on 7' centers and I'm wondering if they are planted too close together...

Also, have you ever used Actinovate as a botrytis preventative? It sounds like you are more south and don't encounter much humidity, but up at 45 degrees anything that doesn't finish by Oct 1 is at risk. This stuff worked very well last year and didn't stink like Serenade so I thought I'd throw it out there if you wanted to try it for the OG that might run into mid Oct.

Peace

Thanks for stopping by good sir. Yes I got out the tape and the magoo are all around 2 1/2 feet tall and the TW, Alien OG and GSC are all pushing 3 feet and growing every day. The Boost and the blue magoo, which are the majority of my garden start to flower the last few days of july and harvest the first few days of October, so they will shoot up and be taller than the rest for a second, but the rest of the pack soon catch up and surpass the rest. I spray greencure once a week from the very beginning for PM, and mrs samson starts to do heavy big leafing weekly to increase air flow and decrease the chances of PM. We are surrounded by vineyards down here and they all have PM I hear/see so its just a shitty fact of life.

I grew DJ bluberry first year at this spot and they are a very wide plant, more wide than tall for sure.

But very worth it, best outdoor plant ive ever grown, next to my boost

Vineyards are breeding grounds. I don't know if this is practiced here but some growers in Europe deliberately infect their grapes with botrytis to up the sugar content in the must. This is for those sweet dinner type wines though (known as noble rot). If your neighbors are growing reds then that wouldn't be happening.

What kind of yield are you pulling off a bush like that?

Ours are similar for sure. Yours has better stacking in the colas however. Whats the finish time? Mine come down Sep. 25th and they are heavy for their frame.

I'm running the Magoo clone this year as well. When does it finish for you?

Thanks for the show.

.... I spray greencure once a week from the very beginning for PM [/URL]

FWIW you might be able to save a few bucks by using Earth Juice natural ph up which is potassium bicarbonate, costs a little under $8lb, just add a surfactant and spray it(use slightly less per gal than greencure since its a more pure potass.bicarb). Greencure is primarily potassium bicarb with a surfactant added, costs over $20lb. If anyone has a source of potassium bicarbonate cheaper than $8lb please post your source. thanks

Excellent, Blueberry being an Oregon strain tends to do well when grown in her own state. Yes Mine may be fatter but shes easily 3 weeks longer than yours, 15-20th of October to get her to look like that.

Magoo tends to lean more towards the Willys mom in her finish time. Last week of September/first week of October depending on how you like it. Leave her longer to really get the blue and reds to come out and the thrichs to amber up.

For sure, I have a couple of the 5 lb cans already for this season, but I will keep that trick in mind.

Thank you, I gave a good friend that blueberry pheno hoping it would make it as a mom and it did not....so I need to search another pack or two of DJ to find one again.

Been 2 years since I had luck with DJ gear and honestly, they came from JD, DJs kid when he was in Eugene a few years ago. My friend knows him and got the beans directly. This was right before or after whiticar blues came out.

Tea Time

Tea Time

Ladies have been in the ground two weeks and were a little bit pissed because of the cold nights so I decided to brew up a veg tea a few days ago. Super simple recipe I make it up in a 55 gallon blue barrel

6 Cups 10-2-1 Bat Guano
1 Cup liquid karma
2 cups hummus

Fill the barrel about half full, dump the ingredients in and finishing filling it up. Then I have my trusty pump circulate it until everything is well mixed and dissolved.

Brew for 48 hours in the sun

picture.php

After 48 Hours I pump it into buckets and hand feed each plant 2-3 gallons of this stuff straight, we then water it in with a splash of PHed water to make sure this stuff gets all the way to the roots.
