Is Down to Earth a good brand?

I'm looking at switching to organic and was wondering if their products were quality. I didn't see any other brands at the shop that were just blood, bone, or kelp meal. All the other products were a liquid or mix of something else.

Down to Earth has great stuff, I like their Pro Organic Mix for a soil (OMRI listed), their ultrafine Endo mycorrhizae, Fish Bone Meal, Liquid Bone Meal all are great...good company, quality products.

Hey queso.

Excellent choice in switching to organics. It's so freaking cheap and easy to produce the best buds you've ever grown. Seriously easy. Congrats.

Yes, DTE is good. Not the best but definitely good. I use a bunch myself because that's what I find locally. Lots of folks around here use it with good results.

Next, instead of blood and bone I'd suggest FTI's thread Making Organic Potting Soil 101. Much better and you're not dealing with nasty remains from the slaughter house.

Lots of knowledgeable people around here willing to help so ask anything you feel like. Best of luck.

One of my favorite brands, and I have been growing for over half my life. Good luck.

I'm a big fan of their Vegan Mix blend. No animal byproducts in it, and a great selection of amendments IMO!

They are certainly not the cheapest brand but honestly everything I have ever had of theirs has been of good quality.

i feel more confident about DTE than whitney or fox farms ~but for neem i do believe the ahimsa is better

as far as humic/fulvic products i would buy the bio-ag and ignore the DTE

Try your local farm/feed store first. That's going to be the cheapest. DTE just repackages a lot of those ingredients into smaller containers and then ups the price dramatically. You may even find better deals online for a lot of the amendments.

I have used several of their products and had great results. What I like is that you can start small and try something out before buying larger quantities. Most of their stuff you can also get in 50lb bags. Yes you can go to a feed store, but it depends on what you are getting. I've checked recently and even the small DTE boxes are pretty reasonable in comparison.

Yet another great Oregon company doing big things in the ag world.

DTE is an all around great product line. I use them exclusively for purchased amendments.

The only issue I have had was with 2 bags of shrimp meal. Both bags had a winged insect crawling around in them. Lots of them too. They disappeared after it was out of the bag for a few days. Thought I would at least mention that...

All in all good stuff.

What NWNR says....

Good stuff, but check out feedstores for some of the meals--half price.

I would give DTE a 10 out of 10. Love their products for cannabis. I love the box it comes in versus the shitty plastic bags Espoma uses.

They are the best readily available mass marketed amendments

definitely use them in a pinch or for convenience (i've done both)

better sources are regional or local and availability can be seasonal

neptune's harvest doesn't have the same array of product but I like their product better

agree Neptune is another great one, that is my backyard here in Mass., I just starting using their kelp meal. Their liquid nutes are excellent if your plants need a quick boost, better than top-dressing.

Coast of Maine here in New England is another excellent local company for those in the northeast. If you want to save money or keep it simple you can't go wrong with Espoma either, it's great stuff. Any of these will give you herb that blows away the typically commercial stuff.
