Got a new portable vape today; The Da Vinci

got to say i am pretty impressed. for a portable this thing is slick. i own a magic flight launch box and have vaped from iolites. the da vinci gives a better cloud hit than either the iolite or mflb. haven't vaped from any other portables so i can't compare to others.

it definately turns the AVB a darker shade of brown than either the mflb or iolite, meaning it's getting more goodies from the plant material. this is not burning at all either. you can get a burn from the mflb.


features:
* runs of rechargeable batteries. wall wort and/or car charger.
* has temp control @ 1 degree F intervals
* has automatic shutoff after 10 mins
* dual switches to turn on to prevent butt (pocket) vaping
* looks like a small radio or walkie talkie
* has on board storage compartment that holds 3 more sessions
* has on board stirrer/brush

the only con i see with it thus far is the unit heating up a bit. for those familiar with the iolite and how it will warm up a bit, this unit is similiar. not a big issue, just making people aware.

the only other comment i have is the vapor is a bit warm as the standard Flexi-Straw mouthpiece (radio antenna look-a-like) is only a few inches long. there is an optional part called the snorkel which extends this antenna/mouthpiece and cools the vapor a bit more.

they sell for up to $350, but i snagged mine on ebay for $128

every bit worth the $128.

i would definitely recommend this portable. i am still playing with things and dialing it in, but i am getting 15-20 pulls per bowl or roughly 80 hits if you count the stash compartment.

thats the magic flight launch box. i own one. it works pretty well, but not as well as the da vinci.

it's not that big. 1/4" x 1/2" x maybe 1" deep.

do you use the mini bowl for grinds? so far i have just loaded mine in the bare bowl.

on the oil recipe, i found gray wolf's recipe and a few others. looks interesting. and with a nice tincture looks like an e-cig can also be used.

All I use is the mini can for my personal use. I am looking at those recipies the hole in the bottom is my issue trying to keep it as clean as I can. When I am out and about I will use the herb bowl part to sample what friends have.

i just searched on ebay for 'da vinci vaporizer' and they can be had all day long for $120-$130.



on the a side note, i tried the mini can for my grinds. it seemed to vape up more quickly and it had little to no vapor. i realize seeing a vapor is not necessary to achieve one's goal, but it is much more satisfying, at least to me, to see that nice vapor exhale

i guess i just need to learn how to clean this thing and clean it often, because the grinds just loose in the bowl works best.

still wanna try some oil in the future however

trying to learn more about tincture oils.

stopped by a vapor store today that sells a bunch of e-cigs. need to figure out which one would work well with an oil i can use in it and this da vinci.

really liking this thing. such flavors. i smoked late last night after vaping most of the evening. the taste of the smoked bud was just not there anymore after vaping. mostly all i tasted was burnt bud (and i know it tastes great even when smoking). but after vaping all evening the smoked bud suddenly tasted way different.

ok, so after trying to clean the bud chamber today i decided to give the bud canister another try. (just noticed i have 70% rubbing alcohol, need to get somthing stronger.) anyway, the chamber is tough to clean up. you wouldn't wanna wait too long. i would say a little 90 something % alcohol every few days.

but before i did (since i didn't like the base canister design), i took a 3/16" drill bit and drill the hole in the canister to that diameter. i then took one of the small screens that comes with the unit and dropped it into the canister.



i loaded up, popped on the silcone rubber cap with hole in it and started to vape.

no visible vapor and a small amount of flavor. obviously still air flow restricted. so fuck it, i just took off the silcone cap. that's not gonna get things any more dirty anyway.

bingo, hitting like a champ again, although i did bump my heat up a little to get the same vapor cloud. this is a convection/conduction unit so obviously the conduction takes a bit longer with more metal between the heat and the bud.

i think i am off to order a few extra canisters. if your gonna be out and about it would be much easier to pop out a used canister and pop in a fresh one then dumping it out and loading more grinded buds. not to mention the wear and tear getting caused to the canister and not the heating chamber.

just drop in a fresh canister and VAPE !!!
