Sam what kind of material u using in the cat box? Sounds like a big cat is the cat box roomy?
Do u brush the cat?
I give our 2 cats a top of the line dry food which has no fillers they get a endless bowl they never over eat and only poop once a day.
Funny one of our cats goes outside like 6 am spends ALL day outside comes in to poop or pee go figure.
Good Luck

oh, wow, I missed a bunch of posts in here

greenlung- yes its a female cat, she certainly is

Nitetiger- she does have claws and without ovaries. the place I live in now is not set up very well for hanging out outside. there are no porches or patios, the back is a one car length driveway beside a patch of grass and the front is front door, sidewalk, small patch of grass, busy street.

hammerhead- permenant outdoor cat I wouldn't mind, but she would always be begging to come in and end up in the garage every time I open it. she is very scared of the outside when she is by herself, when I'm with her, not as much.

supermanlives- I still have the cat, she is still shitting wherever she wants, mainly by the front door and in the upstairs bathroom by her food. She has started using the litter box sporadically now that I put it in the shower in the upstairs bathroom.

she is still a bitch cat, she knows I want her to piss in the litter box but she just won't do it often. As of now, she has ruined the carpet and padding downstairs in the living room and I plan on replacing it before I move. She won't be around to ruin anymore carpet after that. I got a UV light to help me find the spots she pisses on in the living room and I soak them with peroxide straight out of the bottle and no more smell.

not sure what brand, nothing special though, just a clumping kind. She can fit in the box just fine, it is one of the bigger ones. Right now, I have about only 1/3 of the box with litter, pushed over to one side because she doesn't like the feel of the litter when she steps on it. So when she peas, it flows downhill into the litter. I feed her blue buffalo food, no corn or grain fillers. My cat wakes up every hour or so and munches some of her food during the day, but she eats most of it at night time. I do brush her a few times a week, until she either starts biting my hand or the brush.

Sam, you're a good man for putting up with that routine.

OUT! Pet Stain & Odor Remover is sold @ Wal-Mart and online, it has a true professional odor modifier agent in it. I have no other advice as I'm a dog owner.

The corm meal type liter is the best imo. doesnt smell bad like the clay based stuff.

Maybe try feeding her 1 time a day, or twice?

I have to feed my cat only 1 time a day because he eats everything in the bowl no matter what and gets fat.

Cats are just like dogs, different personality tendencies ect.

outdoor cat sam

some cats are , just like humans , retarded

we also have a female cat here that will pee right in front of me

she will look me right in the eyes meow and then she starts peeing against the curtains

some cats should just stay outdoors

i had a male cat once that learned howto use the human toilet all by himself

now THAT was a smart cat and no pain in the ass with cleaning litter boxes

only downside is that sometimes when you had to pee real bad in the morning , you had to wait in line sometimes as mister cat had to go first

I honestly think Male cats are better than females just from my experience.

Female cats that I had and family had always seemed a little off in their behavior.

anybody else have this experience?

I been mixing "cat attract" litter in with her regular cat litter and now she pisses in the box 95% of the time. The other 5% its just too dirty for her. She doesn't like getting the litter on her feet so the litter is on one side of the pan and she pisses on the other side, so I have to move the litter over her piss because she won't piss on the litter.

She still won't shit in the litter box though.

I also have to block her off from the living room where she used to piss all over the carpet in there.

Green lung- I agree, the male cats I've been around have always been a bit better behaved than female cats, although a bit more agressive.

hey Sam, have you tried using a covered litter box? this might give her a more secure feeling having a roof over her head.

wonder why we don't have a Cat Whisperer reality TV show.......

Mrs Ahab brought a farm cat home one time. She thought it was "cute". Sure, it was cute till it decided that it didnt need to go outside to have a leak. It decided that going into the closet where I keep my boots and shoes and pissing on them was a good idea. I tried everything. That damn cat decided it would piss wherever it wanted to.
One morning I caught the bastard doing his business on my hunting boots. It was like he choose them just to piss me off. He was looking at me all squatted up,pissing on my boots with this "whatcha gonna do about it sucka" look on his face. He was taunting me. Daring me to do something about it. He thought Mrs. Ahab was gonna protect his pissy ass no matter what. Well, guess what you effing piss puss, you thought wrong.
I took him outside and put two in his hat. Sent him to the big catnip farm in the sky. Piss heaven. No regrets.

I've read that when they don't use their litter box, that is supposed to mean there is something wrong with their health. Especially if they do it when they see you watching them.

But say they get sick or don't feel well and piss on your boots once, then they get better on their own. The piss smell on your boots will then attract them to keep pissing on them.

I was considering following your lead Capt.Ahab. A few nights ago this little bitch's shit stunk so bad it woke me up at 4:30 in the morning, and my nose was about 25 feet away from it too. She still won't shit in her box and when she pisses in her box, its not on the litter. So if I smell piss, I know to go cover it up in her box. She won't get in the box if she gets litter on her feet, so all the litter is pushed to one side of the box.

Whenever I move, that will be the end of this cats days, I won't be tolerating this bull shit for the rest of her natural days.

Well, today was Carmen's last day with us here.

She had eaten a dead lizard/salamander about 2.5 weeks ago and started loosing weight and was sporadically eating. Last weekend she started walking funny so I brought her to the vet this morning and he called me to say she had passed away.

I'm really sad, she was my only pet. She had been using the litter box for pissing but still shitting right beside the box in the floor.

May she rest in peace. I'll always remember what a beautiful cat she was with her dark chocolate long haired persian appeal.

Sorry to hear of Carmen's passing Sam, you were generous and patient with her no doubt. I realized a long time ago that it was easy enough to dislike your pets behavior w/o loving your pet any less, they're animals that mostly operate in the environment that we guide & provide for them, but surely we don't/can't control their every behavior.

Miway, fred del gato, gooey, S4L, thanks ya'll.

I really did try to give her a good life while I had her. She would have been just fine sitting inside all the time, but I insisted in letting her go outside to play and hear the birds and smell around a bit. She was so bored inside, life is for living, no wasting it away doing nothing. If she died because I let her out to see the world and explore a bit, then so be it, nothing wrong in that.

I'm hesitant about getting another pet at the moment. I know I'd enjoy having another one. I'll get one soon enough.
