90 + here,ya know I had to walk to school in that stuff everyday.Twenty foot drifts and all.

I'm sure you really like it though in summer?

I love northern Minnesota, actually all of it!I really miss the woods man.

Summer's are short but sweet up here. We rarely have more than a handful of days over 90F, nights are cool enough to light a fire in the fireplace or to gather around one outside, mid to upper 40s sometimes but usually 50s/60s.

One very cold morning in August of '04 I was going to coffee @ 6am in town, while driving past I looked at the bank clock to see it was 33F, sorta crazy cold for late August. I know I've told that story in here before but you tend to remember even the smallest signs of the bitter truth of the weather up here.

Just make sure none of those state birds suck out all your blood!
I'm sure you know what I'm talking about?

My wife made it all of two winters their.Came home shaking and crying, all because she couldn't handle a little white-out. I told her it's no big deal, she didn't agree. So now I live in this place a mile from the sun.:tumbleweed:

We used to cut Oak for heat, now that was some serious work(every year)

Fishing season opened yesterday.

yesterday, 5:30am & fresh snow on the ground, not much but just enough to piss a guy off in mid May.

all of our major lakes still have 15-18 inches of ice on them, not sure if they'll be clear next weekend either. our tourist season is already short enough, take 2 weeks away from that & it spells disaster for some. One large resort reported 29 cancellations on 32 rooms/cabins booked.

and now @ 4:30am it's 19℉, cold enough to make ice, not melt it.

Frost and freeze advisories all across the eastern US tonight and tomorrow night(Sun and Mon), extending down into the sothern Appallachians.

Minnesota and it's weather,it's always a crap shoot. 73 right now, with a high of 97.May is when it starts getting warm here.Usually it hits the century mark in May,sometimes in April.

Next month you can go Pike and Muskie fishing, winnie, leech and the list goes on and on.You can get lost on those two for sure!

Try to avoid the horse fly's and you still have a few weeks till all the tics come out. It's nice to roam the woods when all the bugs are gone.

It was good seeing those photo's you took.:thank you:

when the walleyes are bitin' on Winnie we anchor a few hundred yards up from the spillway and slay them on crawlers & leeches. The late ice out has effected spawning time, we'll be hitting them hard in a few weeks. nothing as tasty as fresh walleye.

weather forecast:
Mon ~ 70F & rain
Tues ~ 80F & rain
Wed & Thurs ~ 70s again

Lakes will be open next weekend I think.

btw, Muskie fishing on Leech Lk has gone ballistic in the last 6-8 years, w/a strong catch & release program anglers are catching them in record numbers reminiscent of the old 50s/60s haydays.

I guess now they can stop calling it the "Dead Sea". It's good to see C&R going on more&more! I've been doing that since the 70"s.

well it's only -12F tonight but heading to -20F tomorrow night, add in the windchill factor and we're being warned of -30/40F temps, not the kind of weather where you can leave pets outside. That and the first foot of snow fell over the last 2 days.

Winter really arrived only a few weeks ago with below freezing nights, right up well into November we enjoyed daily temps in the 40s, October had plenty of 50F days as well.

The cold weather we have up here keeps it tourist country :)
