The CAGE growing system.

I am really interested to see this thing finish up. Nice grow keef.

I think I remember talking to someone about lower plants not growing at the same rate as the top ones. I think they figured out that they were not watering long enough and the nutes were not flowing down to the lower plants. With a heavier watering it cleared things up. I could be thinking of another system, but check to see how much runoff you are getting.

how much is one of these?

SCF - Thank you. I am honored.

I still use the snow machine to get the water really cold (probably not necessary), but now I use cubed ice too, and a bubbleator for the stirring, and then run it through the bubble bag set. More grades than what come with the bubbleator bags.

Then take the 73 and work it and work it and work it. That's Dante's words, and his MFT hash at the new Santa Cruz store is great. Strain is also a big factor. I'm still working on that, though I've found some I like. Diesel for one. Wow! Not FMCD, but nice hit.

But right now I'm concentrating on the growing. It's not easy for me, and it barely keeps me in hash so far. I'd like to build up a little stash for the bad times.

Dude i saw that bubbleater in Heads magazine!!! And i wondered if it worked as good as they say it does!! i tell ya what this can save me and my arm a lot of pain!!! i will buy one for sure.

I totaly understand about not being able to keep the stash going. Probably because a strain worth keeping is usually not very great on yield. But hey! quality over quanity any day baby!! I hope to get my hands on diesel!!!! All about the A++++ strains!

Keep up the great grow my friend and good luck to you. Thanks so much for sharing. People like you who inspire folks to try crazy shit :D . ANd thats how you get the Best stuff :)

Take Care

The cage is making BUDS ! !

The cage is making BUDS ! !

Pico - thanks for following the thread.

Interesting, I came to the same conclusion, and turned up the watering time from 5 minutes to 10 minutes. The bottom plants perked right up, and I will definately get something there. I thought they were lost. I learned. :chin: I'm now seeing more runoff at the lower pots, so I suspect that was the problem. Thanks for the suggestion.

The cage runs about $1,500.00 depending on your source, and there are two versions. The deluxe version comes with a pump, and I didn't use it. I prefer the submersible. A lot quieter and easier to use. I figure the price is reasonable considering it will raise 72 plants with relative ease, should keep me in hash......

SCF - The bubbleator is great, but for the best stuff its still a wooden spoon. The bubbleator gives some great hash though. Just use the full bubblebag set and not the sparse bags that come with the bubbleator. They only provide one grade, from 220 to 73 inclusive. Too much garbage for me. Quality over quantity, like you said. And the new bubbleman 8-bag set will give you quality you only see in pictures. With the right strain of course.

I wish y'all green grows an' great smoke.

Wow u two definitly got it going on here. Nice Cages Keefhead I was reading the whole thread and at first was wondering why the lowers were smaller as well I mean I knew the system had two lights in it so that was odd...Good Eye pico on the watering! Glad to see that promoted more growth. your omega gardens are insane too man Good luck on getting those going..
Highly highly recommend The bubblebags its gotta have the BEST RESULTS period!
out of all the process out there and products the BAGS may be involved and a little work but the RESULTS are insanely Stoney..

I think I will try out some of those bags when I get my first crop done. It would be pretty sweet to get the 20 gallon bags but they are like $600. what size bags do you use, and how much material can you process at once?

I agree with UNREGISTRD and the bubblebags. I usually run 8 oz of prime popcorn/lower bud in my 5-gallon set. I do smaller runs in a 1 gallon set.

If you're considering the 20 gal set, you're over my head.

By the way, did you know that if yer a medical user, you check the little box and the price changes? Yep! Ya gotta fax em a copy of yer card to show it, but that's no biggie. Worth some real change. I guess FreshHeadies is the only site that does it. Worked for me.

It's a work in progress while the grow is going on. Nature abhors an empty cage.

Well, that's all for now. Not a whole lot of action during this phase, just grow, grow, grow.

LOL, my works in progress sometimes stay that way. Then by the time i get to them i forgot where i left off. Looks real nice Keefhead.

Hey Keefhead

nice to see your Cage doing well. shit man i should have thought of the watering thing. it's kind of logical that if they are not getting enough food from the left over water from on top, then just give more so they have some left over which is still full of goodnes? just an idea, but the main thing is that you found a solution.

anyway man, great work, i can't wait to see the buds developing.

peace

Chiefsmokingbud - ROFL, you come over and finish my work in progresses, and I'll go finish yours. :biglaugh:

gaiusmarius - nice to see you here on the thread. You said "i can't wait to see the buds developing" and to that comment I provide the following pictures, taken about 5 minutes ago, of my developing buds.

This one is of one of the bud sites. Looking good so far as I can tell.

This other one is sort of artsy-fartsy. Instead of taking bud shots from the top or side, I took this from the bottom. Not great art, I know, but I just hadta.

Well folks. That's it for tonight. Gotta go change the nutes.

Grow well

5 minutes? Why you always giving us old news? :)

So keef, how are those bottom plants doing after changing the watering schedule? I am really interested to see this thing pan out. Shit if you had an extra one right now I would do a temporary trade for an omega. I am truckin to SF probably tomorrow.

I think one of these would be easier to deal with. Less plants and no spinning parts.

Well, I just found out I have a problem. PM. So far just on a few spots, but it will spread quick.

I got a sulfur burner, but I don't know how long to burn, or how much. I've never used it. Never had to, till now.

Any help?

Damn man just when everything was going well!

Here's the OG FAQ on PM, has a lil info on burn times for the sulphur... hope it helps some mate...

http://www.drugs-forum.com/growfaq/1259.htm

I am looking at a few of the verticle systems at the moment and keep coming back to the cage because of the nice additions it has over most other systems.

Only thing that I don't like the sound of is cleaning all that hydroton in teh beginnign and then getting it out in the end! Can't wait for uknown stoners hints 'n' tips for that one!

Apart from the PM I thought everything was going pretty well mate, hope this lil hurdle dont get ya down mate :joint: < one of them and all should become a lil clearer :D

Good luck with the PM.

CiaO!

Thanks Mampi for that FAQ. It did indeed help.

Well, only a few leaves in one area seem to have anything on them. But some of them are in the inside of the cage where I can't get to them. I can't move the cage, and it's too near the wall. (I'll move it for the next time.)

I can't figure out why. RH at 45%, temps in low 80s, enough air circulation to keep all the leaves moving, it just don't figure none. :chin:

Grumble :badday: :badday: :badday: :badday: :badday:

Sulfer is stinky.

Burn it for 3 to 4 hours once a week. Make sure it coats the leaves with residue. That should take care of it... after you do that spray them down after a few weeks to get rid of the sulfer on the plant if any is left.

Good luck PM sucks. i normaly cut off all infected parts and remove them from grow area asap!

SCF - Thanks a bunch, that's just what I was looking for. Uhh, how soon up to harvest can I do this? I can't have that taste either.

With the cage it's difficult to get into the inside growth to spray it off, but a bit of ghetto engineering and I'll find a way.

ya i wouldn't do it past 4 weeks of flowering, i think your somewhere from 2 to 3 weeks into flowering?

Better than PM! Since they wont start to put on the pounds into the later weeks, now would be a good time for a 3 to 4 hour time period. Maybe repeat if needed in a week just to be sure,.. or a few days..

That contraption you have there is crazy. Does it spin like the price is right wheel? LOL "Price is Wrong Biatch" LOL quote from a movie im sure you have heard it.

Wel if it does spray it from the back end of teh plant.. when lights are off.

Also i wouldn't use the sulfer in a room less than 10x10 due to the high levels of sulfer. And if its in your house. cover up the cracks under the door, and anything else so it does not travel into the rest of the house.. turn off vents too..

Good luck. PM sucks.

Edit: Be carefull around any CO2 units or tempermental equepment as this can mess with it! And you can do 1 hour burns for a couple of days straight.. this might be the best way for scent! Cuz its stinks! And for coverage! Sulphur vapors change the pH on the leaves of the plant. This makes the surface unsuitable for fungus or mold growth. It will also significantly slow the reproduction of pests, acting as an effective means of pest control. It is very effective on powdery mildew, thrips and spider mites.

Cheers

1. Put that thing on wheels next time..

2. get some Sernade (sp) you can spray that all you want. Wont burn.

Sweet suggestions LEGION... wheels on the cage would make it freaking rawk!

Glad it helped a lil keefhead.... You know medical grade right, he had some PM problems a couple crops ago, seemed to try everything in the book before getting it under control.... ask him wat he done too just for a range of experiences... SCF sounds like he knows a thing or 3 about PM too..

good luck!

Sulfer works great but... I wouldn't use it in flower. Serenade is cool up to day of harvast they say. (I'd wait two weeks)

Legion - I'm glad you saw this thread. Welcome.

1. I've thought about it, but there are problems. It would lift the cage, and I have a height issue now, no more headroom for the lights. Also, I'd have to use a hefty platform, as the cage weighs over 750 lbs full. I could use piano casters, but how to attach them. And the wheels would press into the linoleum floor and would be difficult to roll out of the rut. :chin: Suggestions? I've been thinking about it, but I haven't figured out the answer.

2. I'll be going down to my favorite hydro store Monday morning so I can get a gallon of that stuff. Serenade has been recommended by a lot of folks everywhere. Sounds like a staple in my growing arsenal of hydro goodies. It'll be difficult to apply in the cage, but I'll figure out a way, if I have to pour it from a bucket from above. :pointlaug

Or does Home Despot or OSH carry it? Hmmmm

SCF and Mampi - thanks for all your input. This is my first cage grow, or anything of this size, and I'm just sick that it may be lost. :badday:
