Could Marijuana Help in Weight Loss?

Some more anecdotal evidence to ponder...
My wife and I started using cannabis daily in 2010. I got my recommendation for the intense arthritis pain in my lower back, her, for migraines that would require a trip to the ER, and a shot of Demerol that never really worked.
At first, I was worried about gaining weight. I was a product of the 80's, when we'd pool our allowances, and buy a pinched gram from some douchebag in a beat up, primer gray Nova, at the local 7-11.
I clearly remembered the uncontrollable munchies we'd get.
Surprise, surprise... Almost 4 years later, and I have lost 25lbs, and kept it off. (I drink a six pack per night of crappy light beer, also!)
My wife has lost 55 pounds, and looks fantastic.
We both have to "Remind" ourselves to eat, and when we do, it's usually half of what we ate a few years ago.
Two people does not make a case study, but I don't care. It works well for us.
Another interesting aspect of using daily, is my attitude change regarding food.
We just don't go out to eat big meals anymore. I stop at a burger drive through 2 or 3 times a week, but I only order from the "value" menu. Just one tiny burger, and a handful of fries. Hold the mayo, hold the cheese, and a water with that, please.
I believe cannabis has altered my perception of food. I now look at a big plate of Mexican food at a restaurant, that I used to gobble up, as disgusting over-indulgence. Same with Olive Garden, or any other fatty-fatterson restaurant you can name.
Ditto for wifey.
We often comment "Can you BELIVE how much of that crap we used to eat", and shake our heads.
Dessert has been replaced with a bowl of bran flakes, with 1% milk. No more ice cream. The thought of it makes me wanna puke. That's fat people food.
Don't misinterpret my statements, I still love good food, it's just that I tend to make it at home now, and eat much, much smaller portions.
We didn't read a motivational book, or sign on to some new fad diet. The only thing that has changed, is our cannabis use, and our attitudes towards food in general.
As for the blood sugar effects now being studied, that makes sense to me. If I wait too long to eat, I feel pretty sick and NEED to eat. Kinda like my friend, who's been diabetic since age 7.
I don't consider this bad, as it encourages me to eat 5 or 6 small meals a day, which is not only proven healthier, but also to aid weight loss immensely.
As a final aside, it also works wonders on my back. It still hurts, daily, but I have not been buckled to the floor, gasping for breath, and unable to get up like I used to, in years.
My wife can stop a migraine that would have laid her up for a full day, in 5 minutes. No Demerol, no ER, no BS.
I'm sold.
Be well!

For me personally I think smoking has taught me a lot about my own personal gluttony. Sure I can eat half a pizza, smoke a joint and be hungry again, but it's just my brain being a god damn liar. I've learned to become a lot more satisfied by eating a meal that doesn't leave me feeling bound up internally. I keep exorbitant feasts to once or twice a week now and eat smaller portions the rest of the time that leave me full but not stuffed. Unless I'm out hiking or something I usually limit myself to 1 meal a day.

Johnny Rotten unless you were a huge boredom eater (I am) and marijuana helps with that I bet most of your weight loss has come from not drinking so many calories. You were probably only eating 1000-1500 calories a day and drinking 1000 or more. I did the same thing with pop and other sugary beverages. When you stop and actually count the calories you drink it's insane.

I've also got some issues that make it difficult to do any strenuous physical activity. I get to jog a few times a week and I don't know if I could do it without a prolonged stretching routine and a few dabs of BHO. It's like part of my brain just shuts down and I can ignore my pain and just jog like a robot.

I can vouch for heavy use and weight loss.

In high doses i think that cannabis has great potential as an appetite suppressant and for treating alcohol problems.

Sativas especially for alcohol problems. I drank way too much, my Sugar Punch very much helped me quit. Haven't had a drink in almost half a year now.

i have some sats that shut down my hunger and i have indicas that make me eat everything i see

Absolutely. Afghani Bullrider (BC Clone) just makes me want to eat the entire house.

My Sugar Punch really didn't give me the munchies and often would suppress my appetite if I was hungry before I smoked.

It's all in the chemotype.

What an incredible plant though, no?

Good for you OGE, for dropping the booze. I quit for 5 months, and foolishly went back to it. I had the devil on the ropes, and let him get up. Vaping more really helps me keep the drinking limited, at least, until I can get back to where you are!
Be well!

I have definitely had urges since. But, it's something a good medible or vape session doesn't take care of.

Medibles helped a fair bit too I'd say, but it was more the Sugar Punch. Good luck with your battle.

It most defenetly help with getting rid of alcho, i used to drink quite a lot and had a great deal of trouble stoping with alcho, i aswell couldnt loose weight, as soon as i started smoking weed regulary, i managed to break loose from alcho and aswell lost a weight, even tho i was never fat, but i wanted to loose couple killos, than another problem happened, i lost too much weight ! and i wanted to get my killos up and i had to strugle really hard force myself to eat and do gym even tho i had no appetite, and i somehow managed to gain some weight back :) but as soon as i stoped gym, i started eating less and down it went :>

so yeah my conclusion you can most defenetly loose weight(smoke every day) and it helps for sure if you are addicted to alcho !
