Hello all,

The clones look great for one week (6 days for about half of them) in the soil:
attachment.php

Feel free to check in in a couple of months folks....we are in for the long haul.

I have bumped the light up to 80% power and it is on 7/24 now.
I am thinking of going full power ($'s being the only holdup) tonight
and flipping to 12/12 at two weeks.

Take care,

JD

Im not understanding your on/off times at all.
You keep them off for 7 hours and on for 24 hours?
Or.... are you saying that they get 7 hours of darkness and 17 hours of light?
This would make more sense.

I think he meant 24/7.

for example, no dark periods... full light 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

J

Javadog

LOL....is that that preferred order?

Thank you SS, yes, I am "always on" right now,
but will flip to 12/12 at two weeks.

Thank you all for attending.

Hey folks,

We are two days from the flip and things look good:
attachment.php

I have turned on the Kessils and am running 20/4 as of today.

I am enjoying the Somango very much:
attachment.php

The AKs are still in the jars. My early impression is that they are
even stickier that the Somangos (getting them out of the
jar is hilarious) but until the cure is complete I will not know for
sure about taste.....but I expect Somango to hold the hill.

I expect that this grow will move fast for some nice photos for
a few weeks before it slows during the ripening phase.
Then Harvest!

Take care all,

JD

Nice grow! I picked up a six-pack of deadhead OG myself. The sample bud I got with the clones was fantastic and a bit stronger than the xxx og I just finished. I look forward to the deadhead. Thanks for sharing. Anyone with any success with it outdoors?

J

Javadog

Yes, I hear very good things about Deadhead. The Chem and Cheese should both be
very stinky too. The Purpleberry and Qrazy Train are kinda dark horses...they might
do anything.

Thanks for stopping in.

JD

P.S. I flipped on Wednesday, at two weeks, on schedule. I will likely be quiet until
the photo at the end of the official week one.

wow, nice work Java! very informative and thanks a bunch for the close up shots!
can stop lookin at this thread!

question- i see you pack that tent to the edges,
when that tent gets nice and full,
how are you keeping the humidty under control?

J

Javadog

Thank you. Very nice of you to stop by.

We are approaching one week from flip.

I have moved to the HPS bulb.

Things are looking healthy, I may post a photo later,
but there is not all that much change yet.

I did super-crop several of the Deadheads. They were
getting tall already and have a long inter-node length.
It was funny because they bounced right back with the
main top already the tallest part of the plant again, but
off to the side. That plant will get good lower bud growth.

Take care all,

JD

Javadog

Well, thank you for checking in.

Tomorrow is the end of week one, as day zero, the flip day,
was last Wednesday.

I switched to the HPS bulb.

I am still trying to get a feel for this grow, as the soil change
has affected much else. I am watering, just a few cups each,
every few days. FFOF I could drench and go for 7-10 days.
The Kelloggs Patio Plus seems to be doing well otherwise. It
does seem to have attracted gnats where FFOF did not (it did
smell much more of the manure that it contains).

I am looking into a nematode treatment. The gnats are not harmful
that I can tell, yet.

Take care,

JD

I am still thinking of flowering my mothers next round.

I did terrible job of Bonsai'ing them :0)

Here is the Chem 4 OG mother:

Here is the mothers area:

(this is four full length T-8s attached to a board that I can raise and lower)

Before I flipped, I took clones from the one Hawaiian Snow plant:

That is all for now....this seems like it is going to take forever, at this point! :0)

Take care,

JD

Hello all,

I took a photo yesterday of one of the PurpleBerrys, as they are starting
to show a little purple already. It is starting in the veins of the top leaves.

attachment.php

I will be posting week 2 update photos tonight.

BTW, I found my gnat problem to be annoying and to be
get worse, so I tried to get some nematodes. My local sources
and grow shops could only order them and they were pretty expensive,
so I bought a bottle of 35% H2O2 and fed my ladies with 2 ml added
per gallon. I also put diatomaceous earth on the surface of each
pot's soil as well. It seems to be working well so far.

Take care,

JD

Hello all,

I have a Week 2 update, if a couple of days late.
(the photos were taken on time)

I only took a few photos before the lights came on,
and the HPS makes distinguishing one plant from another
difficult, but things really are doing very well.

I did not move fast enough when some gnats showed up
and had a fair little mess when I acted. I tried to get the
right nematodes, but failed when I looked locally (I will
try again).

So I added 2 ml 35% H2O2 per gallon to my next feed and
then dressed my plants with food grade diatomaceous earth.
Things are already looking much better. The last few stragglers
and I am done with them.

Lights off, a day earlier:
attachment.php

Lights on, today:
attachment.php

Check out the crazy structure on this Blue Cheese in the corner:
attachment.php

I supercropped it because it was getting too far ahead of the rest of the canopy.

Note:I took growth from the plants of my last crops SOG high enough to have
gotten those long branches coming up from below. This time, I decided to test
the no-defoliation way for this grow.

....I am growing such a fun bag of breeds that I will be happy for whatever I get.

Here is a very lovely Chem 4 OG:

I have been banging on the Deadhead OGs, supercropping them,
but they are still among the tallest:

The small amount of extra Veg time is still giving the Hawaiian Snow
a strong advantage. Here is the HS, after lights out, and lights on.

Note that this plant has two tops, but I bent them over and the result
looks a lot like an 8-topper with two extra buds which are the tops
that have grown back to join the new canopy:

Last word for now....here is a shot a Somango bud....not the largest
that I have, but a pretty picture before the grinder. Also the mothers
are recovering from a hard trim where I culled weaker growth. They
will have two months to recover.

LOL, so I am playing for an audience of myself....no worries.

This is the slow part of the grow. The pr0n might get a burp outta someone. :0)

It is three weeks since the flip.

This has been a challenging grow so far. I blame the soil change.
I have been dealing with a breed specific low-N issue, and have
a fairly involved gnat infestation.

I am not going to knock Kelloggs Patio Plus, but when I use it again
I will make a point of mixing in FFOF or some other garden soil.

After trying drying them out, and diatomaceous earth, I decided to
feed them using water in which I crumbled and soaked a mosquito
dunk (BT toxin), one dunk per 5 gallons.

I also top-dressed the ladies with some EWC (a blend with ground kelp
and volcanic earth) too.

I am hoping that these two actions together will get me back on course.

Now, I write all this even though things are really going pretty well.

All breeds are flowering nicely, though I am sure that they would be
a bit bigger if things were optimal.

I am also having to admit that a 36 plant SOG sucks ass when one has
to visit each bag like this. It can take a couple of days unless I can
completely devote a day to doing it.

All I have to add are a couple shots of one of the Chem 4 OGs
and one of the Purpleberrys, with a nice closeup:

Thank you for the good word.

This Crop is a struggle compared to the last, but I am sure
that this is part the soil change and part the genetics of my
current breeds.

More updates soon.
