mmar and mortgage/insurance issues

I recently got a dr signature for my mmar papers and am waiting for them to come back from health Canada. I am new to this and have a few questions regarding insurance. Do you need to tell the insurance company that you have a legal grow? will anyone insure the house if I do? Also do you have to disclose there was a legal grow when you sell your house? Will this make the house impossible to sell without going through allot of bs?

It is my understanding, based on what I've read of the experiences of others, that yes, you do absolutely need to talk to your insurance company (or a MMAR-friendly insurance company) about this and purchase supplemental/different house insurance. If your house burns down and you are not specifically insured for your grow, then your insurance won't cover anything (even if the fire isn't caused by your grow equipment).

As for your other questions, I haven't read anything one way or the other about needing to disclose that information when selling your house - sorry.

in my policy its worded illegal or commercial activity. which your mmar would be neither. so read your policy.

essentially an insurance company can fuck you out of your money if they feel so thats why the policy is 20 pages

In the personal anecdotes I've read, people have explicitly stated that even with this sort of wording in their policy, they had to get supplemental insurance.

If your policy really is different, then that's great! Personally, I'd rather take the safe route and confirm with the insurance company that you'd be covered than find out after the fact that you're totally screwed.

Good luck getting insurance also...legit or not, I got more...sorry NO thanks than anything while trying to get new insurance.

I checked my policy and it says they don't cover damage caused by the manufacture or cultivation of illegal substances or result of any activity that would constitute a criminal offence. So I guess I'm all good. People use HID lighting over saltwater fish tanks all the time. Seems if insurance covers them it would have to cover us as well.
