Hey guys - I was talking with an old friend, and he was trying to tell me about an organic Spray you can buy that tricks the plant into thinking its getting attacked by BUGS specifically, and in turn pumping out more trichs!

Has anyone heard of it? My google skillz can't seem to pull this one off
:tiphat:

On a more serious note, wouldn't an even more organic way to be to
use maybe a hole puncher, and punch a few holes here and there in the leaves,
Mimicking bugs eating the plant! Whoda thunk!

Have you tried treating them to a fancy dinner and asking them nicely? :peacock:

Seriously, I'm thinking that if such a product exists, and actually works, you would have no trouble googling it.

Us pink monkeys just can not keep a secret.

Aloha,

The process your buddy is speaking of was recently on pbs... a nova on the way plants communicate... anyway they showed a direct relation between bug activities an increased trike production... they studied the wild desert tobacco, but found that yes there is an increase in the plant being attacked aswell as plants nearby that heard that plants distress... as far as a product that does that on market, prolly worthless... but a true scientific grower could find the pharamoan needed to do this.... Try cranking the AC. Colder temperatures definitely help pack on the resin.

Why try to trick the plants? Just put some real bugs on them and watch them thrive.

Hes talking about jazz rose spray, imo. Its mdhj as opposed to meja, but the belief is that it does the same thing. The beautiful thing about using jasmonates is wether natural or synthetic, they are cancer killers.

I used to trick my plants into doing all sorts of crazy things but as time went on I realized in essence I was only making them stupider.
I am now focusing all of my energy on intimidation tactics.

Your friend is talking about chitin. It comes from crustacean shells and mealworm and cricket castings. It's no snake oil, it's also not magic. It makes the plant think its being attatched by insects, so it fortifies itself with more foliage, larger stems, and theoretically more potency. I have seen awesome results using herbivorous insect castings, but have not really seen a dramatic increase in potency.

Please link some scholastic articles. I didnt find any corroboration, in regard to increased trichome production.
