Im very interested in using your recipe for aloe/coconut, but Im having trouble finding it where I saw it last, and I for some reason did not write it down in my notebook.
Care to share that with me?
Thanks man!

I use 1/4 cup to a gallon of water on the aloe vera and up to 1/2 cup of green coconut water.

If you have it on hand you could add 1/2 oz. of BioAt Ful-Power (Fulvic acid).

That's pretty much it!

Unfortunately they do not - what were you looking for specifically?

There is another option that might work for you - Naomi's Organic Farm Supply which is also located in SE Portland...

I was curious to do a side by side with the cheaper mix that you posted next to what you might recommend if money is no issue. Just seems like fun to me...

CC, what does the Nutritional information on your coconut water amount to? Are you buying a brand or local ethnic market coconut?

Thanks

The only thing missing from Yelm's is a pair of big red rubber shoes and a snap-on big round clown nose for those guys. The product is sold all over the region...and what a crappy product. Very little actual EWC in this stuff, mostly filler. As is with all the other local EWC suppliers...sand,straw,manure,anything but actual castings.

Gary Kline at Black Lake Organics sells his high dollar 'mineralized' EWC,but no thanks at that price.....so the only real option is to drive 100+ miles to Concentrates and get the Vital Earth brand until I get my beds up and producing. Yes...I have to drive over 100 miles to get affordable high quality EWC in bulk.

I'm looking at making space for eight 6ft x 2ft flow throughs...because someone dropped the ball on EWC in the south Puget Sound and I'm gonna pick it up~

Yelm's...it's funny how they got so far with such crap....I mean it's sold at the co-op and all those 'know better' people buy a product for humic value that contains very little actual worth...wtf...wake up people.

I use both fresh young coconuts and a couple of bottled products:

Coco Libre - one of the few certified organic products available. You can buy this at Costco and the pack is 4 x 1 liter = $11.99 - less than $12.00 per gallon.

Harmless Harvest. This one may be the best one available and that quality comes at a higher price. This is pasteurized not with heat but pressure. It's definitely one of the best tasting.

At the end of the day, fresh coconuts at $2.75 ea. (typical price on the west coast anyway) that will give you 12-14 oz. is a very good deal.

Both of the bottled products have store locators at their respective web sites and both are available at Amazon and other online retailers.

As always, fresh is best plus you get double usage from the gel on the inside of the developing coconut seed which is a good thing to add to your worm bin.

The owner of Yelm Worm Farm should complete the sale of his operation to Aurora Innovations and pick-up a chair at the University of Washington's Business School teaching 'How to Completely & Totally Screw-up Your Business in 2 Years'

Pretty simple really: double your prices, shift from 1 c.f. bags to 12 quarts so that you complicate the assembling of materials for soil mixing as much as possible, i.e. you can't just grab a bag and mark it off your list.

Just another scammer and a complete asshole to do business with. He's been wandering around Portland dropping off sample bags at every grow store that he can find. Good luck with that...

Aloe vera? Absolutely and it is a very good choice to use as a surfactant in neem oil treatments and general health.

1/4 cup aloe vera extract
1 tablespoon kelp meal paste

Fill to one gallon and apply at end of the light cycle.

The "Worm Dude" in Camas sells a yard for $175.00 ($6.48 per c.f.) and a half-yard for $95.00 ($7.03 per c.f.)

I stopped at the farm store yesterday and saw that the pallet of Oly Mtn. fish compost was down to a few bags so I asked the store manager if they were planning on carrying this once current stock is completed. He said that with the volume they're selling this at will insures that it will be a regular stock item. He told me that it's been very popular with home gardeners.

Even the expensive Malibu Biodynamic compost is moving quickly out the door. Marwest (nee GroundUp) is finished on both their woody compost and vermicompost.

The pallet of Yelm's 'potting soil' called Barefeet or something like that sits with the shrink-wrap still intact. Hopefully they got it on a front, i.e. no out-of-pocket monies required to stock & stage it at the front of the store.

I fear that the recent popularity of Oly Mtn may force the hand of the proprietors into keeping up with demand and go the way of Marwest...or something as similarly cheesy.

I saw Malibu dynamic sitting in a hardware store in N. Seattle at like $18 a bag..
$18 a bag...wtf there eh...

I'm finding bits of uncomposted pine in the Oly Mtn lately so I've been screening it and running it through my compost....it's also been burning used as a top dress.
It was much more finished a year ago compared to the product I'm using today.
I eventually found a Bonzai place that gets the Oly Mtn in bulk and makes a bonzai mix...which is basically not much more than the compost and some topsoil...same price as the Oly Mtn.

I have two 6 ft beds basically operational...just have to place an order and take a journey to get the worms....'cause there's no freeking way Yelm's is going to get $25 for a handful of bedding and juvenile red worms...they can get bent. Then I be having my own EWC and selling my own EWC.

If you're interested, Bob's Red Mill (about 250' from Concentrates) has set-up a display for seed sprouters. They carry a dozen or so different organic seeds: Chinese cabbage, radish, alfalfa, mung beans, etc.

They also have sprouting jars and lids that fit Mason (type) jars - the pack where you get 3 different lids with different sized holes.

They also had some of the small hemp sprouting bags - they may be a hemp-cotton blend. They're only $7.50 which is about $3.00 less than online prices and that's before S&H charges are added. I started chia seeds last night and by using a bag you don't get into the mess that you do with jars. Same thing with flax seeds.

Again if you're interested...

Hey CC, just to double check my math on using the 200x Aloe powder; to make a 1/4 cup of aloe juice, mix 1/4 cup water with 1/16th teaspoon of aloe, correct? Then add to finish off the gallon of water.

1/4 cup equals 12 teaspoons
12/199= .06 teaspoons
1/16= .06

Thanks,
Swayze

I know what ya mean....I drive over 200 miles round trip to make it to Concentrates. There price for Vitals Worm Castings is cheaper than I can get through any of the Distributors I know in the state. I am use to paying wholesale plus 10-15% at the stores in my area.

When I added the yelms to the soil I was mixing I freaked out for a second...

"Why did I buy bagged manure?"

Thats what it looked like to me some dry manure....
