Hey there.

Thought that this would be the best place to ask. I am flying out to the Bergkirchweih in Erlangen for a long weekend with family. Just wnated to know if anyone had any advice or suggestions as what to look for or which beers more importantly. Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

best advice: have a rich, fat meal before hittin' the steinkrug!
you'll be totally wasted if you'd try all the different beer without such preparation or if you mix it up with the drinking later on ;)

if you come across some dark brewed, strong beer (starkbier, bockbier, schwarzbier) you could give it a try and compare their malty taste to the dark beers from the uk. but beware of their alcohol strength!
also, chances might be high that there are some "limited" beers in some of the cellars, brewed in small batches just for those festivities :)

some wheat beer/top-fermentation beer (weizenbier, esp. the smooth & creamy hefe-weizen) is always a good choice to get "rooted" now and then; served in glas not in stone btw

cheers to you fuzzy wuzzy & enjoy your stay with your family!

Thanks guys. That is just what I was looking for.

@Wizzo: Definitely will be eating well. My auntie is German and always puts on a great spread of food no matter what time of the day.
